¹The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

¹A palavra que falou o Senhor acerca de Babilônia, acerca da terra dos caldeus, por intermédio de Jeremias o profeta.

²Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.

²Anunciai entre as nações e publicai, arvorando um estandarte; sim publicai, não encubrais; dizei: Tomada está Babilônia, confundido está Bel, caído está Merodaque, confundidos estão os seus ídolos, e caídos estão os seus deuses.

³For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.

³Pois do Norte sobe contra ela uma nação que fará da sua terra uma desolação, e não haverá quem nela habite; tanto os homens como os animais já fugiram e se foram.

⁴In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

⁴Naqueles dias, e naquele tempo, diz o Senhor, os filhos de Israel virão, eles e os filhos de Judá juntamente; andando e chorando virão, e buscarão ao Senhor seu Deus.

⁵They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

⁵Acerca de Sião indagarão, tendo os seus rostos voltados para lá e dizendo: Vinde e uni-vos ao Senhor num pacto eterno que nunca será esquecido.

⁶My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

⁶Ovelhas perdidas têm sido o meu povo; os seus pastores as fizeram errar, e voltar aos montes; de monte para outeiro andaram, esqueceram-se do lugar de seu repouso.

⁷All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.

⁷Todos os que as achavam as devoraram, e os seus adversários diziam: Culpa nenhuma teremos; porque pecaram contra o Senhor, a morada da justiça, sim, o Senhor, a esperança de seus pais.

⁸Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.

⁸Fugi do meio de Babilônia, e saí da terra dos caldeus, e sede como os bodes diante do rebanho.

⁹For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.

⁹Pois eis que eu suscitarei e farei subir contra Babilônia uma companhia de grandes nações da terra do Norte; e por-se-ão em ordem contra ela; dali será ela tomada. As suas flechas serão como as de valente herói; nenhuma tornará sem efeito.

¹⁰And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.

¹⁰E Caldéia servirá de presa; todos os que a saquearem ficarão fartos, diz o Senhor.

¹¹Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;

¹¹Embora vos alegreis e vos regozijeis, ó saqueadores da minha herança, embora andeis soltos como novilha que pisa a erva, e rincheis como cavalos vigorosos,

¹²Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

¹²muito envergonhada será vossa mãe, ficará humilhada a que vos deu � luz; eis que ela será a última das nações, um deserto, uma terra seca e uma solidão.

¹³Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

¹³Por causa da ira do Senhor não será habitada, antes se tornará em total desolação; qualquer que passar por Babilônia se espantará, e assobiará por causa de todas as suas pragas.

¹⁴Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.

¹⁴Ponde-vos em ordem para cercar Babilônia, todos os que armais arcos; atirai-lhe, não poupeis as flechas, porque ela tem pecado contra o Senhor.

¹⁵Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.

¹⁵Gritai contra ela rodeando-a; ela já se submeteu; caíram seus baluartes, estão derribados os seus muros. Pois esta é a vingança do Senhor; vingai-vos dela; conforme o que ela fez, assim lhe fazei a ela.

¹⁶Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.

¹⁶Cortai de Babilônia o que semeia, e o que maneja a foice no tempo da sega; por causa da espada do opressor virar-se-á cada um para o seu povo, e fugirá cada qual para a sua terra.

¹⁷Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.

¹⁷Cordeiro desgarrado é Israel, os leões o afugentaram; o primeiro a devorá-lo foi o rei da Assíria, e agora por último Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, lhe quebrou os ossos.

¹⁸Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

¹⁸Portanto, assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que castigarei o rei de Babilônia e a sua terra, como castiguei o rei da Assíria.

¹⁹And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.

¹⁹E farei voltar Israel para a sua morada, e ele pastará no Carmelo e em Basã, e se fartará nos outeiros de Efraim e em Gileade.

²⁰In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.

²⁰Naqueles dias, e naquele tempo, diz o Senhor, buscar-se-á a iniqüidade em Israel, e não haverá; e o pecado em Judá, e não se achará; pois perdoarei aos que eu deixar de resto.

²¹Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.

²¹Sobe contra a terra de Merataim, sim, contra ela, e contra os moradores de Pecode; mata e inteiramente destrói tudo após eles, diz o Senhor, e faze conforme tudo o que te ordenei.

²²A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

²²Na terra há estrondo de batalha, e de grande destruição.

²³How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!

²³Como foi cortado e quebrado o martelo de toda a terra! como se tornou Babilônia em objeto de espanto entre as nações!

²⁴I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.

²⁴Laços te armei, e também foste presa, ó Babilônia, e tu não o soubeste; foste achada, e também apanhada, porque contra o Senhor te entremeteste.

²⁵The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

²⁵O Senhor abriu o seu arsenal, e tirou os instrumentos da sua indignação; porque o senhor Deus dos exércitos tem uma obra a realizar na terra dos caldeus.

²⁶Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.

²⁶Vinde contra ela dos confins da terra, abri os seus celeiros; fazei dela montões, e destruí-a de todo; nada lhe fique de resto.

²⁷Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.

²⁷Matai a todos os seus novilhos, desçam ao degoladouro; ai deles! porque é chegado o seu dia, o tempo da sua punição.

²⁸The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.

²⁸Eis a voz dos que fogem e escapam da terra de Babilônia para anunciarem em Sião a vingança do Senhor nosso Deus, a vingança do seu templo.

²⁹Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

²⁹Convocai contra Babilônia os flecheiros, todos os que armam arcos; acampai-vos contra ela em redor, ninguém escape dela. Pagai-lhe conforme a sua obra; conforme tudo o que ela fez, assim lhe fazei a ela; porque se houve arrogantemente contra o Senhor, contra o Santo de Israel.

³⁰Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.

³⁰Portanto cairão os seus jovens nas suas praças, e todos os seus homens de guerra serão destruídos naquele dia, diz o Senhor.

³¹Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.

³¹Eis que eu sou contra ti, ó soberbo, diz o Senhor Deus dos exércitos; pois o teu dia é chegado, o tempo em que te hei de punir?

³²And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

³²Então tropeçará o soberbo, e cairá, e ninguém haverá que o levante; e porei fogo �s suas cidades, o qual consumirá tudo o que está ao seu redor.

³³Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.

³³Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá são juntamente oprimidos; e todos os que os levaram cativos os retêm, recusam soltá-los.

³⁴Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

³⁴Mas o seu Redentor é forte; o Senhor dos exércitos é o seu nome. Certamente defenderá em juízo a causa deles, para dar descanso � terra, e inquietar os moradores de Babilônia.

³⁵A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

³⁵A espada virá sobre os caldeus, diz o senhor, e sobre os moradores de Babilônia, e sobre os seus príncipes, e sobre os seus sábios.

³⁶A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.

³⁶A espada virá sobre os paroleiros, e eles ficarão insensatos; a espada virá sobre os seus valentes, e eles desfalecerão.

³⁷A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.

³⁷A espada virá sobre os seus cavalos, e sobre os seus carros, e sobre todo o povo misto, que se acha no meio dela, e eles se tornarão como mulheres; a espada virá sobre os seus tesouros, e estes serão saqueados.

³⁸A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.

³⁸Cairá a seca sobre as suas águas, e elas secarão; pois é uma terra de imagens esculpidas, e eles pelos seus ídolos fazem-se loucos.

³⁹Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.

³⁹Por isso feras do deserto juntamente com lobos habitarão ali; também habitarão nela avestruzes; e nunca mais será povoada, nem será habitada de geração em geração.

⁴⁰As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

⁴⁰Como quando Deus subverteu a Sodoma e a Gomorra, e �s suas cidades vizinhas, diz o Senhor, assim ninguém habitará ali, nem peregrinará nela filho de homem.

⁴¹Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

⁴¹Eis que um povo vem do norte; e uma grande nação e muitos reis se levantam das extremidades da terra.

⁴²They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

⁴²Armam-se de arco e lança; são cruéis, e não têm piedade; a sua voz brama como o mar, e em cavalos vêm montados, dispostos como homens para a batalha, contra ti, ó filha de Babilônia.

⁴³The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

⁴³O rei de Babilônia ouviu a fama deles, e desfaleceram as suas mãos; a angústia se apoderou dele, dores, como da que está de parto.

⁴⁴Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

⁴⁴Eis que como leão subirá das margens do Jordão um inimigo contra a morada forte, mas de repente o farei correr dali; e ao escolhido, pô-lo-ei sobre ela. Pois quem é semelhante a mim? e quem me fixará um prazo? Quem é o pastor que me poderá resistir?

⁴⁵Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.

⁴⁵Portanto ouvi o conselho que o Senhor decretou contra Babilônia, e o propósito que formou contra a terra dos caldeus: Certamente eles, os pequenos do rebanho, serão arrastados; certamente o aprisco ficará apavorado por causa deles.

⁴⁶At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.

⁴⁶Ao estrondo da tomada de Babilônia estremece a terra; e o grito se ouve entre as nações.
