¹So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

¹David, fiind bătrîn şi sătul de zile, a pus pe fiul său Solomon împărat peste Israel.

²And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

²El a strîns pe toate căpeteniile lui Israel, pe preoţi şi pe Leviţi.

³Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

³Au făcut numărătoarea Leviţilor, dela vîrsta de treizeci de ani în sus; socotiţi pe cap şi pe bărbaţi, s'au găsit în număr de treizeci şi opt de mii.

⁴Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:

⁴Şi David a zis: ,,Douăzeci şi patru de mii dintre ei să vegheze asupra slujbelor din Casa Domnului, şase mii să fie dregători şi judecători,

⁵Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

⁵patru mii să fie portari, şi patru mii să fie însărcinaţi să laude pe Domnul cu instrumentele pe cari le-am făcut ca să -L prea mărim.``

⁶And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

⁶David i -a împărţit în cete după fiii lui Levi: Gherşon, Chehat şi Merari.

⁷Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.

⁷Din Gherşoniţi: Laedan şi Şimei. -

⁸The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

⁸Fiii lui Laedan: căpetenia Iehiel, Zetam şi Ioel, trei.

⁹The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.

⁹Fiii lui Şimei: Şelomit, Haziel şi Haran, trei. Aceştia erau capii caselor părinteşti ale familiei lui Laedan. -

¹⁰And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

¹⁰Fiii lui Şimei: Iahat, Zina, Ieuş şi Beria. Aceştia sînt cei patru fii ai lui Şimei.

¹¹And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father's house.

¹¹Iahat era căpetenia, şi Zina al doilea; Ieuş şi Beria n'au avut mulţi fii, şi au alcătuit o singură casă părintească la numărătoare.

¹²The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

¹²Fiii lui Chehat: Amram, Iţehar, Hebron şi Uziel, patru. -

¹³The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.

¹³Fiii lui Amram: Aaron şi Moise. Aaron a fost pus deoparte să fie sfinţit ca prea sfînt, el şi fiii lui pe vecie, ca să aducă tămîie înaintea Domnului, să -I facă slujba, şi să binecuvinteze pe vecie în Numele Lui.

¹⁴Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

¹⁴Dar fiii lui Moise, omul lui Dumnezeu, au fost număraţi în seminţia lui Levi.

¹⁵The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.

¹⁵Fiii lui Moise: Gherşom şi Eliezer.

¹⁶Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.

¹⁶Fiul lui Gherşom: Şebuel, căpetenia.

¹⁷And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

¹⁷Şi fiii lui Eliezer au fost: Rehabia, căpetenia; Eliezer n'a avut alt fiu, dar fiii lui Rehabia au fost foarte mulţi la număr. -

¹⁸Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.

¹⁸Fiul lui Iţehar: Şelomit, căpetenia. -

¹⁹Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

¹⁹Fiii lui Hebron: Ieria, căpetenia; Amaria, al doilea: Iahaziel, al treilea; şi Iecameam, al patrulea. -

²⁰Of the sons of Uzziel; Micah the first and Jesiah the second.

²⁰Fiii lui Uziel: Mica, căpetenia; şi Işia, al doilea.

²¹The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.

²¹Fiii lui Merari: Mahli şi Muşi. -Fiii lui Mahli: Eleazar şi Chis.

²²And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

²²Eleazar a murit fără să aibă fii; dar a avut fete pe cari le-au luat de neveste fiii lui Chis, fraţii lor. -

²³The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

²³Fiii lui Muşi: Mahli, Eder şi Ieremot, trei.

²⁴These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.

²⁴Aceştia sînt fiii lui Levi, după casele lor părinteşti, capii caselor părinteşti, după numărătoarea făcută numărînd numele pe cap. Ei erau întrebuinţaţi în slujba Casei Domnului, dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus.

²⁵For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:

²⁵Căci David a zis: ,,Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, a dat odihnă poporului Său, şi va locui pe vecie la Ierusalim;

²⁶And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.

²⁶şi Leviţii nu vor mai avea să poarte cortul şi toate uneltele pentru slujba lui.``

²⁷For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:

²⁷După cele din urmă porunci ale lui David, numărătoarea fiilor lui Levi s'a făcut dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus.

²⁸Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

²⁸Puşi lîngă fiii lui Aaron pentru slujba Casei Domnului, ei aveau să îngrijească de curţi şi de odăi, de curăţirea tuturor lucrurilor sfinte, de împlinirea slujbei în Casa lui Dumnezeu,

²⁹Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;

²⁹de pînile pentru punerea înaintea Domnului, de floarea de făină pentru darurile de mîncare, de plăcintele fără aluat, de turtele coapte în tigae şi de turtele prăjite, de toate măsurile de încăpere şi de lungime;

³⁰And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even:

³⁰ei aveau să stea în fiecare dimineaţă şi în fiecare seară, ca să laude şi să mărească pe Domnul,

³¹And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:

³¹şi să aducă neîncetat înaintea Domnului toate arderile de tot Domnului, în zilele de Sabat, de lună nouă şi de sărbători, după numărul şi obiceiurile rînduite.

³²And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.

³²Îngrijeau de cortul întîlnirii, de sfîntul locaş şi de fiii lui Aaron, fraţii lor, pentru slujba Casei Domnului.
