¹My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

¹Copilaşilor, vă scriu aceste lucruri, ca să nu păcătuiţi. Dar dacă cineva a păcătuit, avem la Tatăl un Mijlocitor (Sau Advocat. Greceşte: Paraclet, adică apărător, ajutor.), pe Isus Hristos, Cel neprihănit.

²And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

²El este jertfa de ispăşire pentru păcatele noastre; şi nu numai pentru ale noastre, ci pentru ale întregei lumi.

³And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

³Şi prin aceasta ştim că Îl cunoaştem, dacă păzim poruncile Lui.

⁴He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

⁴Cine zice: ,,Îl cunosc``, şi nu păzeşte poruncile Lui, este un mincinos, şi adevărul nu este în el.

⁵But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

⁵Dar cine păzeşte Cuvîntul Lui, în el dragostea lui Dumnezeu a ajuns desăvîrşită; prin aceasta ştim că sîntem în El.

⁶He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

⁶Cine zice că rămîne în El, trebuie să trăiască şi el cum a trăit Isus.

⁷Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

⁷Prea iubiţilor nu vă scriu o poruncă nouă, ci o poruncă veche, pe care aţi avut -o dela început. Porunca aceasta veche este Cuvîntul, pe care l-aţi auzit.

⁸Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

⁸Totuş vă scriu o poruncă nouă, lucru care este adevărat atît cu privire la El, cît şi cu privire la voi; căci întunerecul se împrăştie, şi lumina adevărată şi răsare chiar.

⁹He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

⁹Cine zice că este în lumină, şi urăşte pe fratele său, este încă în întunerec pînă acum.

¹⁰He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

¹⁰Cine iubeşte pe fratele său, rămîne în lumină, şi în el nu este niciun prilej de poticnire.

¹¹But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

¹¹Dar cine urăşte pe fratele său, este în întunerec, umblă în întunerec, şi nu ştie încotro merge, pentrucă întunerecul i -a orbit ochii.

¹²I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

¹²Vă scriu, copilaşilor, fiindcă păcatele vă sînt iertate pentru Numele Lui.

¹³I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

¹³Vă scriu, părinţilor, fiindcă aţi cunoscut pe Cel ce este dela început. Vă scriu, tinerilor, fiindcă aţi biruit pe cel rău. V'am scris, copilaşilor, fiindcă aţi cunoscut pe Tatăl.

¹⁴I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

¹⁴V'am scris, părinţilor, fiindcă aţi cunoscut pe Cel ce este dela început. V'am scris, tinerilor, fiindcă sînteţi tari, şi Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu rămîne în voi, şi aţi biruit pe cel rău.

¹⁵Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

¹⁵Nu iubiţi lumea, nici lucrurile din lume. Dacă iubeşte cineva lumea, dragostea Tatălui nu este în El.

¹⁶For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

¹⁶Căci tot ce este în lume: pofta firii pămînteşti, pofta ochilor şi lăudăroşia vieţii, nu este dela Tatăl, ci din lume.

¹⁷And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

¹⁷Şi lumea şi pofta ei trece; dar cine face voia lui Dumnezeu, rămîne în veac.

¹⁸Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

¹⁸Copilaşilor, este ceasul cel de pe urmă. Şi, după cum aţi auzit că are să vină anticrist, să ştiţi că acum s'au ridicat mulţi anticrişti: prin aceasta cunoaştem că este ceasul de pe urmă.

¹⁹They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

¹⁹Ei au ieşit din mijlocul nostru, dar nu erau dintre ai noştri. Căci dacă ar fi fost dintre ai noştri, ar fi rămas cu noi; ci au ieşit, ca să se arate că nu toţi sînt dintre ai noştri.

²⁰But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

²⁰Dar voi aţi primit ungerea din partea Celui sfînt, şi ştiţi orice lucru.

²¹I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

²¹V'am scris nu că n'aţi cunoaşte adevărul, ci pentrucă îl cunoaşteţi, şi ştiţi că nicio minciună nu vine din adevăr.

²²Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

²²Cine este mincinosul, dacă nu cel ce tăgăduieşte că Isus este Hristosul? Acela este Anticristul, care tăgăduieşte pe Tatăl şi pe Fiul.

²³Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

²³Oricine tăgăduieşte pe Fiul, n'are pe Tatăl. Oricine mărturiseşte pe Fiul, are şi pe Tatăl.

²⁴Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

²⁴Ce aţi auzit dela început, aceea să rămînă în voi. Dacă rămîne în voi ce aţi auzit dela început, şi voi veţi rămînea în Fiul şi în Tatăl.

²⁵And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

²⁵Şi făgăduinţa, pe care ne -a făcut -o El, este aceasta: viaţa vecinică.

²⁶These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

²⁶V'am scris aceste lucruri în vederea celor ce caută să vă rătăcească.

²⁷But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

²⁷Cît despre voi, ungerea, pe care aţi primit -o dela El, rămîne în voi, şi n'aveţi trebuinţă să vă înveţe cineva; ci, după cum ungerea Lui vă învaţă despre toate lucrurile şi este adevărată, şi nu este o minciună, rămîneţi în El, după cum v'a învăţat ea.

²⁸And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

²⁸Şi acum, copilaşilor, rămîneţi în El, pentruca atunci cînd Se va arăta El, să avem îndrăsneală, şi, la venirea Lui, să nu rămînem de ruşine şi depărtaţi de El.

²⁹If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

²⁹Dacă ştiţi că El este neprihănit, să ştiţi şi că oricine trăieşte în neprihănire este născut din El.
