¹And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.

²But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:

²Dar Ionatan, fiul lui Saul, care iubea mult pe David, i -a dat de ştire, şi i -a zis: ,,Tatăl meu Saul caută să te omoare. Păzeşte-te dar mîne dimineaţă, stai într'un loc tăinuit, şi ascunde-te.

³And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.

³Eu voi ieşi şi voi sta lîngă tatăl meu în cîmpul în care vei fi; voi vorbi tatălui mei despre tine, voi vedea ce va zice, şi-ţi voi spune.``

⁴And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:

⁴Ionatan a vorbit bine de David tatălui său Saul: ,,Să nu facă împăratul``, a zis el, ,,un păcat faţă de robul său David, căci el n'a făcut niciun păcat faţă de tine. Dimpotrivă, a lucrat pentru binele tău;

⁵For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

⁵şi -a pus în joc viaţa, a ucis pe Filistean, şi Domnul a dat o mare izbăvire pentru tot Israelul. Tu ai văzut, şi te-ai bucurat. Pentru ce să păcătuieşti împotriva unui sînge nevinovat, şi să omori fără pricină pe David?``

⁶And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.

⁶Saul a ascultat glasul lui Ionatan, şi a jurat, zicînd: ,,Viu este Domnul, că David nu va muri!``

⁷And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

⁷Ionatan a chemat pe David, şi i -a spus toate cuvintele acestea; apoi l -a adus la Saul; şi David a fost înaintea lui ca mai înainte.

⁸And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.

⁸Războiul urma înainte. David a mers împotriva Filistenilor, şi s'a bătut cu ei, le -a pricinuit o mare înfrîngere, şi au fugit dinaintea lui.

⁹And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.

⁹Atunci duhul cel rău, trimes de Domnul, a venit peste Saul, care şedea în casă, cu suliţa în mînă. David cînta,

¹⁰And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin: but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

¹⁰şi Saul a vrut să -l pironească cu suliţa de perete. Dar David s'a ferit de el, şi Saul a lovit cu suliţa în perete. David a fugit, şi a scăpat noaptea.

¹¹Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.

¹¹Saul a trimes nişte oameni acasă la David, ca să -l pîndească şi să -l omoare dimineaţa. Dar Mical, nevasta lui David, i -a dat de ştire şi i -a zis: ,,Dacă nu fugi în noaptea aceasta, mîne vei fi omorît.``

¹²So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

¹²Ea l -a pogorît pe fereastră, şi David a plecat şi a fugit. Aşa a scăpat.

¹³And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.

¹³În urmă Mical a luat terafimul şi l -a pus în pat; i -a pus o piele de capră în jurul capului, şi l -a învelit cu o haină.

¹⁴And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.

¹⁴Cînd a trimes Saul oamenii să ia pe David, ea a zis: ,,Este bolnav.``

¹⁵And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

¹⁵Saul i -a trimes înapoi să -l vadă, şi a zis: ,,Aduceţi -l la mine în patul lui, ca să -l omor.``

¹⁶And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.

¹⁶Oamenii aceia s'au întors, şi iată că terafimul era în pat, şi în jurul capului era o piele de capră.

¹⁷And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

¹⁷Saul a zist către Mical: ,,Pentru ce m'ai înşelat în felul acesta, şi ai dat drumul vrăjmaşului meu, şi a scăpat?`` Mical a răspuns lui Saul: ,,El mi -a zis: ,Lasă-mă să plec, ori te omor!``

¹⁸So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.

¹⁸Aşa a fugit şi a scăpat David. El s'a dus la Samuel la Rama, şi i -a istorisit tot ce -i făcuse Saul. Apoi s'a dus cu Samuel şi a locuit în Naiot.

¹⁹And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.

¹⁹Au spus lucrul acesta lui Saul şi au zis: ,,Iată că David este în Naiot, lîngă Rama.``

²⁰And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

²⁰Saul a trimes nişte oameni să ia pe David. Ei au văzut o adunare de prooroci cari prooroceau, cu Samuel în frunte. Duhul lui Dumnezeu a venit peste trimeşii lui Saul, şi au început şi ei să... proorocească.

²¹And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.

²¹Au spus lui Saul lucrul acesta; el a trimes alţi oameni, şi au proorocit şi ei. A mai trimes alţii a treia oară, şi au proorocit şi ei.

²²Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.

²²Atunci Saul s'a dus el însuş la Rama. Ajungînd la fîntîna cea mare fără apă, care este la Secu, a întrebat: ,,Unde este Samuel şi David?`` I s'a răspuns: ,,Sînt în Naiot, lîngă Rama.``

²³And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

²³Şi s'a îndreptat spre Naiot, lîngă Rama. Duhul lui Dumnezeu a venit şi peste el; şi Saul şi -a văzut de drum proorocind pînă la sosirea lui în Naiot, lîngă Rama.

²⁴And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

²⁴S'a desbrăcat de haine şi a proorocit şi el înaintea lui Samuel; şi s'a aruncat desbrăcat la pămînt toată ziua aceea şi toată noaptea. De aceea se zice: ,,Oare... şi Saul este între prooroci?``
