¹And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

¹În locul lui a domnit fiul său Iosafat. El s'a întărit împotriva lui Israel:

²And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

²a pus oşti în toate cetăţile întărite ale lui Iuda, şi a rînduit căpetenii în ţara lui Iuda şi în cetăţile lui Efraim, pe cari le luase tatăl său Asa.

³And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

³Domnul a fost cu Iosafat, pentrucă a umblat în cele dintîi căi ale tatălui său David, şi n'a căutat pe Baali;

⁴But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

⁴căci a alergat la Dumnezeul tatălui său, şi a urmat poruncile Lui, fără să facă ce făcea Israel.

⁵Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honor in abundance.

⁵Domnul a întărit domnia în mînile lui Iosafat, căruia tot Iuda îi aducea daruri. Şi a avut o mulţime de bogăţii şi slavă.

⁶And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

⁶Inima lui s'a întărit din ce în ce în căile Domnului, şi a îndepărtat din Iuda chiar şi înălţimile şi idolii.

⁷Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

⁷În al treilea an al domniei lui, a însărcinat pe căpeteniile sale Ben-Hail, Obadia, Zaharia, Netaneel şi Mica, să se ducă să înveţe pe oameni în cetăţile lui Iuda.

⁸And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.

⁸A trimes cu ei pe Leviţii Şemaia, Netania, Zebadia, Asael, Şemiramot, Ionatan, Adonia, Tobia şi Tob-Adonia, Leviţi, şi pe preoţii Elişama şi Ioram.

⁹And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

⁹Ei au învăţat pe oameni în Iuda, avînd cu ei cartea legii Domnului. Au străbătut toate cetăţile lui Iuda, şi au învăţat pe oameni în mijlocul poporului.

¹⁰And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

¹⁰Groaza Domnului a apucat toate împărăţiile ţărilor dimprejurul lui Iuda, şi n'au făcut război împotriva lui Iosafat.

¹¹Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.

¹¹Nişte Filisteni au adus lui Iosafat daruri şi un bir în argint; şi Arabii i-au adus şi ei vite, şapte mii şapte sute de berbeci şi şapte mii şapte sute de ţapi.

¹²And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.

¹²Iosafat se ridicase la cea mai înaltă treaptă de mărire. A zidit în Iuda cetăţui şi cetăţi pentru merinde.

¹³And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem.

¹³A strîns merinde în cetăţile lui Iuda, şi avea la Ierusalim o ceată de oameni viteji ca ostaşi.

¹⁴And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand.

¹⁴Iată numărul lor, după casele părinţilor lor. Din Iuda, căpetenii peste o mie: Adna, căpetenia, cu trei sute de mii de viteji;

¹⁵And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.

¹⁵după el, Iohanan, căpetenia, cu două sute optzeci de mii de oameni;

¹⁶And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

¹⁶după el, Amasia, fiul lui Zicri, care se predase de bunăvoie Domnului, cu două sute de mii de viteji.

¹⁷And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.

¹⁷Din Beniamin: Eliada, om viteaz, cu două sute de mii de oameni înarmaţi cu arc şi cu scut,

¹⁸And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.

¹⁸şi după el, Zozabad, cu o sută optzeci de mii de oameni înarmaţi pentru război.

¹⁹These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.

¹⁹Aceştia sînt cei ce erau în slujba împăratului, afară de aceia pe cari îi pusese împăratul în toate cetăţile întărite ale lui Iuda.
