¹Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

¹Fraţilor, voim să vă aducem la cunoştinţă harul, pe care l -a dat Dumnezeu în Bisericile Macedoniei.

²How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

²În mijlocul multelor necazuri prin cari au trecut, bucuria lor peste măsură de mare şi sărăcia lor lucie, au dat naştere la un belşug de dărnicie din partea lor.

³For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

³Vă mărturisesc că au dat de bună voie, după puterea lor, şi chiar peste puterile lor.

⁴Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

⁴Şi ne-au rugat cu mari stăruinţe pentru harul şi părtăşia la această strîngere de ajutoare pentru sfinţi.

⁵And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

⁵Şi au făcut aceasta nu numai cum nădăjduisem, dar s'au dat mai întîi pe ei înşişi Domnului, şi apoi nouă, prin voia lui Dumnezeu.

⁶Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.

⁶Noi dar, am rugat pe Tit să isprăvească această strîngere de ajutoare, pe care o începuse.

⁷Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

⁷După cum sporiţi în toate lucrurile: în credinţă, în cuvînt, în cunoştinţă, în orice rîvnă, şi în dragostea voastră pentru noi, căutaţi să sporiţi şi în această binefacere.

⁸I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

⁸Nu spun lucrul acesta ca să vă dau o poruncă; ci pentru rîvna altora, şi ca să pun la încercare curăţia dragostei voastre.

⁹For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

⁹Căci cunoaşteţi harul Domnului nostru Isus Hristos. El, măcar că era bogat, s'a făcut sărac pentru voi, pentruca prin sărăcia Lui, voi să vă îmbogăţiţi.

¹⁰And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.

¹⁰În această privinţă vă dau un sfat. Şi sfatul acesta vă este de folos vouă, cari, de acum un an, cei dintîi aţi început nu numai să faceţi, ci să şi voiţi.

¹¹Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.

¹¹Isprăviţi dar acum de făcut; pentruca, după graba voinţei să fie şi înfăptuirea, potrivit cu mijloacele voastre.

¹²For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

¹²Pentrucă, dacă este bunăvoinţă, darul este primit, avîndu-se în vedere ce are cineva, nu ce n'are.

¹³For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:

¹³Aici nu este vorba ca alţii să fie uşuraţi, iar voi strîmtoraţi;

¹⁴But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:

¹⁴ci este vorba de o potrivire: în împrejurarea de acum, prisosul vostru să acopere nevoile lor, pentruca şi prisosul lor să acopere, la rîndul lui, nevoile voastre, aşa ca să fie o potrivire;

¹⁵As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

¹⁵după cum este scris: ,,Cel ce strînsese mult, n'avea nimic de prisos, şi cel ce strînsese puţin, nu ducea lipsă.``

¹⁶But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.

¹⁶Mulţămiri fie aduse lui Dumnezeu, care a pus în inima lui Tit aceeaş rîvnă pentru voi.

¹⁷For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.

¹⁷Căci el a primit îndemnul nostru; ba încă, stăpînit de o rîvnă arzătoare, a pornit de bună voie spre voi.

¹⁸And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;

¹⁸Am trimes cu el şi pe fratele a cărui laudă în Evanghelie este răspîndită prin toate Bisericile.

¹⁹And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:

¹⁹Mai mult, el a fost ales de Biserici să meargă împreună cu noi în această lucrare de binefacere, pe care o săvîrşim spre slava Domnului şi ca o dovadă de bunăvoinţa noastră.

²⁰Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:

²⁰În chipul acesta, vrem ca nimeni să nu ne defaime cu privire la acest belşug de ajutoare, de care îngrijim.

²¹Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

²¹Căci căutăm să lucrăm cinstit nu numai înaintea Domnului, ci şi înaintea oamenilor.

²²And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.

²²Am trimes cu ei pe fratele nostru, a cărui rîvnă am încercat -o de atîtea ori în multe împrejurări, şi care, de data aceasta, arată mult mai multă rîvnă, din pricina marei lui încrederi în voi.

²³Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

²³Astfel, fie avînd în vedere pe Tit, care este părtaşul şi tovarăşul meu de lucru în mijlocul vostru; fie avînd în vedere pe fraţii noştri, cari sînt trimeşii Bisericilor şi fala lui Hristos:

²⁴Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

²⁴daţi-le înaintea Bisericilor dovadă de dragostea voastră, şi arătaţi-le că avem dreptul să ne lăudăm cu voi.
