¹After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

¹După aceea, Pavel a plecat din Atena, şi s'a dus la Corint.

²And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

²Acolo a găsit pe un Iudeu, numit Acuila, de neam din Pont, venit de curînd din Italia, cu nevastă-sa Priscila, de oarece Claudiu poruncise ca toţi Iudeii să plece din Roma. A venit la ei.

³And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

³Şi, fiindcă avea acelaş meşteşug, a rămas la ei, şi lucrau: meseria lor era facerea corturilor.

⁴And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

⁴Pavel vorbea în sinagogă în fiecare zi de Sabat, şi îndupleca pe Iudei şi pe Greci.

⁵And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

⁵Dar cînd au venit Sila şi Timotei din Macedonia, Pavel s'a dedat în totul propovăduirii, şi dovedea Iudeilor că Isus este Hristosul.

⁶And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

⁶Fiindcă Iudeii i se împotriveau şi -l batjocoreau, Pavel şi -a scuturat hainele, şi le -a zis: ,,Sîngele vostru să cadă asupra capului vostru; eu sînt curat. Deacum încolo, mă voi duce la Neamuri.``

⁷And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

⁷Şi după ce a ieşit de acolo, a intrat în casa unui om temător de Dumnezeu, numit Iust, a cărui casă era vecină cu sinagoga.

⁸And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

⁸Dar Crisp, fruntaşul sinagogii, a crezut în Domnul împreună cu toată casa lui. Şi mulţi dintre Corinteni, cari auziseră pe Pavel, au crezut şi ei, şi au fost botezaţi.

⁹Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

⁹Noaptea, Domnul a zis lui Pavel într'o vedenie: ,,Nu te teme; ci vorbeşte şi nu tăcea,

¹⁰For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

¹⁰căci Eu sînt cu tine; şi nimeni nu va pune mîna pe tine, ca să-ţi facă rău: vorbeşte, fiindcă am mult norod în această cetate.``

¹¹And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

¹¹Aici a rămas un an şi şase luni, şi învăţa printre Corinteni Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu.

¹²And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

¹²Pe cînd era Galion cîrmuitor al Ahaiei, Iudeii s'au ridicat cu un gînd împotriva lui Pavel, l-au dus înaintea scaunului de judecată,

¹³Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

¹³şi au zis: ,,Omul acesta aţîţă pe oameni să se închine lui Dumnezeu într'un fel care este împotriva Legii.``

¹⁴And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:

¹⁴Pavel voia să înceapă vorba, cînd Galion a zis Iudeilor: ,,Dacă ar fi vorba de vreo faptă rea sau de vreo blestemăţie, v'aş asculta după cuviinţă, Iudeilor!

¹⁵But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

¹⁵Dar dacă este vorba de neînţelegeri asupra unui cuvînt, asupra unor nume şi asupra Legii voastre, treaba voastră: eu nu vreau să fiu judecător peste aceste lucruri.``

¹⁶And he drave them from the judgment seat.

¹⁶Şi i -a alungat dela scaunul de judecată.

¹⁷Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

¹⁷Atunci au pus toţi mîna pe Sosten, fruntaşul sinagogii, şi -l băteau înaintea scaunului de judecată, fără ca lui Galion să -i pese.

¹⁸And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

¹⁸Pavel a mai rămas destul de multă vreme în Corint. În urmă, şi -a luat ziua bună dela fraţi, şi a plecat cu corabia spre Siria, împreună cu Priscila şi Acuila, după ce şi -a tuns capul în Chencrea, căci făcuse o juruinţă.

¹⁹And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

¹⁹Au ajuns în Efes; şi Pavel a lăsat acolo pe însoţitorii lui. A intrat în sinagogă, şi a stat de vorbă cu Iudeii,

²⁰When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

²⁰cari l-au rugat să rămînă la ei mai multă vreme. El însă n'a voit,

²¹But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

²¹ci şi -a luat rămas bun dela ei, şi a zis: ,,Trebuie numaidecît ca sărbătoarea care vine, s'o fac în Ierusalim. Dacă va voi Dumnezeu, mă voi întoarce iarăş la voi.`` Şi a plecat din Efes.

²²And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.

²²S'a dat jos din corabie în Cezarea, s'a suit la Ierusalim, şi, dupăce a urat de bine Bisericii, s'a pogorît în Antiohia.

²³And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

²³După ce a petrecut cîtăva vreme în Antiohia, Pavel a plecat, şi a străbătut din loc în loc ţinutul Galatiei şi Frigiei, întărind pe toţi ucenicii.

²⁴And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

²⁴La Efes, a venit un Iudeu numit Apolo, de neam din Alexandria. Omul acesta avea darul vorbirii şi era tare în Scripturi.

²⁵This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

²⁵El era învăţat în ce priveşte Calea Domnului, avea un duh înfocat, şi vorbea şi învăţa amănunţit pe oameni despre Isus, măcar că nu cunoştea decît botezul lui Ioan.

²⁶And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

²⁶A început a vorbi cu îndrăzneală în sinagogă. Acuila şi Priscila, cînd l-au auzit, l-au luat la ei, şi i-au arătat mai cu deamăruntul Calea lui Dumnezeu.

²⁷And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

²⁷Fiindcă el voia să treacă în Ahaia, fraţii l-au îmbărbătat să se ducă, şi au scris ucenicilor să -l primească bine. Cînd a ajuns, a ajutat mult, prin harul lui Dumnezeu, pe ceice crezuseră;

²⁸For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

²⁸căci înfrunta cu putere pe Iudei înaintea norodului, şi le dovedea din Scripturi că Isus este Hristosul.
