¹Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.

¹Ne-am întors, şi am plecat în pustie, pe drumul care duce la marea Roşie, cum îmi poruncise Domnul; şi am ocolit multă vreme munte Seir.

²And the LORD spake unto me, saying,

²Domnul mi -a zis:

³Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

³,,Vă ajunge de cînd ocoliţi muntele acesta. Întoarceţi-vă spre miazănoapte.

⁴And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

⁴Dă următoarea poruncă poporului: ,,Acum aveţi să treceţi prin hotarele fraţilor voştri, copiii lui Esau, cari locuiesc în Seir. Ei se vor teme de voi; dar să vă păziţi bine.

⁵Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

⁵Să nu vă încăieraţi cu ei; căci nu vă voi da în ţara lor nici măcar o palmă de loc: muntele Seir l-am dat în stăpînire lui Esau.

⁶Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

⁶Să cumpăraţi de la ei cu preţ de argint, hrana pe care o veţi mînca, şi să cumpăraţi dela ei cu preţ de argint, chiar şi apa pe care o veţi bea.

⁷For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

⁷Căci Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, te -a binecuvîntat în tot lucrul mîinilor tale şi ţi -a cunoscut călătoria în această mare pustie. Iată, de patruzeci de ani de cînd Domnul Dumnezeul tău este cu tine, şi n'ai dus lipsă de nimic.``

⁸And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

⁸Am trecut pe departe de fraţii noştri, copiii lui Esau, cari locuiesc în Seir, şi pe departe de drumul care duce în cîmpie, departe de Elat şi de Eţion-Gheber; apoi ne-am întors şi am apucat spre pustia Moabului.

⁹And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

⁹Domnul mi -a zis: ,,Nu face război cu Moab, şi nu te apuca la luptă cu el; căci nu-ţi voi da nimic să stăpîneşti în ţara lui: ,Arul l-am dat în stăpînire copiilor lui Lot.

¹⁰The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

¹⁰(Mai înainte aici locuiau Emimii: un popor mare, mult la număr şi de statură înaltă, ca Anachimii.

¹¹Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.

¹¹Ei treceau drept Refaimiţi, ca şi Anachimii; dar Moabiţii îi numeau Emimi.

¹²The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.

¹²Seir era locuit altă dată de Horiţi; copiii lui Esau i-au izgonit, i-au nimicit dinaintea lor, şi s'au aşezat în ţara pe care o stăpîneşte şi pe care i -a dat -o Domnul.)

¹³Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

¹³Acum sculaţi-vă şi treceţi pîrîul Zered.`` Am trecut pîrîul Zered.

¹⁴And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

¹⁴Vremea cît au ţinut călătoriile noastre dela Cades-Barnea pînă la trecerea pîrîului Zered a fost de treizeci şi opt de ani, pînă a perit din mijlocul taberei tot neamul oamenilor de război, cum le jurase Domnul.

¹⁵For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

¹⁵Mîna Domnului a fost împotriva lor ca să -i nimicească din mijlocul taberei, pînă ce au perit.

¹⁶So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

¹⁶După ce au perit toţi bărbaţii de război, murind în mijlocul poporului,

¹⁷That the LORD spake unto me, saying,

¹⁷Domnul mi -a vorbit şi a zis:

¹⁸Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:

¹⁸,,Să treci azi hotarul Moabului, la cetatea Ar,

¹⁹And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

¹⁹şi să te apropii de copiii lui Amon. Să nu faci război cu ei, şi să nu te iei la luptă cu ei; căci nu-ţi voi da nimic de stăpînit în ţara copiilor lui Amon: am dat -o în stăpînire copiilor lui Lot.

²⁰(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

²⁰Ţara aceasta trecea deasemenea ca o ţară a lui Refaim; mai înainte locuiau în ea Refaimiţii; şi Amoniţii îi numeau Zamzumimi:

²¹A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

²¹un popor mare, mult la număr şi de statură înaltă, ca Anachimii. Domnul i -a nimicit dinaintea Amoniţilor, cari i-au izgonit şi s'au aşezat în locul lor.

²²As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

²²(Aşa a făcut Domnul şi pentru copiii lui Esau cari locuiesc în Seir, cînd a nimicit pe Horiţi dinaintea lor; ei i-au izgonit şi s'au aşezat în locul lor, pînă în ziua de azi.

²³And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

²³Deasemenea, Aviţii, cari locuiau în sate pînă la Gaza, au fost nimiciţi de Caftoriţi, ieşiţi din Caftor, cari s'au aşezat în locul lor.)

²⁴Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

²⁴Sculaţi-vă, plecaţi, şi treceţi pîrîul Arnon. Iată, îţi dau în mîini pe Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului, Amoritul, şi ţara lui. Începe cucerirea, fă război cu el!

²⁵This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

²⁵De azi încolo voi băga groaza şi frica de tine în toate popoarele de subt cer; şi, la auzul faimei tale, vor tremura şi se vor îngrozi de tine.``

²⁶And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

²⁶Din pustia Chedemot, am trimes soli la Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului, cu vorbe de pace. Am trimes să -i spună:

²⁷Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

²⁷,,Lasă-mă să trec prin ţara ta; voi ţinea drumul mare, fără să mă abat nici la dreapta nici la stînga.

²⁸Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;

²⁸Să-mi vinzi pe preţ de argint hrana pe care o voi mînca, şi să-mi dai cu preţ de argint apa de care o voi bea; nu voi face altceva decît să trec cu piciorul, -

²⁹(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.

²⁹lucru pe care mi l-au îngăduit copiii lui Esau cari locuiesc în Seir, şi Moabiţii cari locuiesc în Ar-îngăduieşte-mi şi tu lucrul acesta, pînă voi trece Iordanul ca să intru în ţara pe care ne -o dă Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru.``

³⁰But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

³⁰Dar Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului, n'a vrut să ne lase să trecem pela el; căci Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, i -a făcut duhul neînduplecat, şi i -a împietrit inima, ca să -l dea în mîinile tale, cum vezi azi.

³¹And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

³¹Domnul mi -a zis: ,,Vezi, acum încep să-ţi dau pe Sihon şi ţara lui; începe şi tu dar să -i iei în stăpînire ţara ca s'o moşteneşti.``

³²Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

³²Sihon ne -a ieşit înainte, cu tot poporul lui, ca să lupte împotriva noastră, la Iahaţ.

³³And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

³³Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, ni l -a dat în mîni, şi l-am bătut, pe el, şi pe fiii lui, şi pe tot poporul lui.

³⁴And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

³⁴I-am luat atunci toate cetăţile, şi le-am nimicit cu desăvîrşire: bărbaţi, femei şi prunci i-am nimicit cu desăvîrşire, şi n'am lăsat să scape niciunul măcar.

³⁵Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

³⁵Numai vitele le-am răpit pentru noi, precum şi prada din cetăţile pe cari le luaserăm.

³⁶From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:

³⁶Dela Aroer, care este pe malurile pîrîului Arnon, şi dela cetatea care este în vale, pînă la Galaad, n'a fost nici o cetate prea tare pentru noi: Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, ni le -a dat pe toate în mînă.

³⁷Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbade us.

³⁷Dar de ţara copiilor lui Amon nu te-ai apropiat, de toate malurile pîrîului Iaboc, de cetăţile dela munte, şi de toate locurile pe cari te -a oprit Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, să le loveşti.
