¹Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

¹După patrusprezece ani, m'am suit din nou la Ierusalim împreună cu Barnaba; şi am luat cu mine şi pe Tit.

²And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

²M'am suit, în urma unei descoperiri, şi le-am arătat Evanghelia, pe care o propovăduiesc eu între Neamuri, în deosebi celor mai cu vază, ca nu cumva să alerg sau să fi alergat în zădar.

³But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:

³Nici chiar Tit, care era cu mine, măcar că era Grec, n'a fost silit să se taie împrejur,

⁴And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

⁴din pricina fraţilor mincinoşi, furişaţi şi strecuraţi printre noi, ca să pîndească slobozenia, pe care o avem în Hristos Isus, cu gînd să ne aducă la robie;

⁵To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

⁵noi nu ne-am supus şi nu ne-am potrivit lor nicio clipă măcar, pentruca adevărul Evangheliei să rămînă cu voi.

⁶But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

⁶Cei ce sînt socotiţi ca fiind ceva-orice ar fi fost ei, nu-mi pasă: Dumnezeu nu caută la faţa oamenilor-aceştia, zic, ei cei cu vază nu mi-au adaus nimic.

⁷But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

⁷Ba dimpotrivă, cînd au văzut că mie îmi fusese încredinţată Evanghelia pentru cei netăiaţi împrejur, după cum lui Petru îi fusese încredinţată Evanghelia pentru cei tăiaţi împrejur, -

⁸(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

⁸căci Cel ce făcuse din Petru apostolul celor tăiaţi împrejur, făcuse şi din mine apostolul Neamurilor-

⁹And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

⁹şi cînd au cunoscut harul, care-mi fusese dat, Iacov, Chifa şi Ioan, cari sînt priviţi ca stîlpi, mi-au dat mie şi lui Barnaba, mîna dreaptă de însoţire, ca să mergem să propovăduim: noi la Neamuri, iar ei la cei tăiaţi împrejur.

¹⁰Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

¹⁰Ne-au spus numai să ne aducem aminte de cei săraci, şi chiar aşa am şi căutat să fac.

¹¹But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

¹¹Dar cînd a venit Chifa în Antiohia, i-am stătut împotrivă în faţă, căci era de osîndit.

¹²For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

¹²În adevăr, înainte de venirea unora dela Iacov, el mînca împreună cu Neamurile; dar cînd au venit ei, s'a ferit şi a stat deoparte, de teama celor tăiaţi împrejur.

¹³And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

¹³Împreună cu el au început să se prefacă şi ceilalţi Iudei, aşa că pînă şi Barnaba a fost prins în laţul făţărniciei lor.

¹⁴But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

¹⁴Cînd i-am văzut eu că nu umblă drept după adevărul Evangheliei, am spus lui Chifa în faţa tuturor: ,,Dacă tu, care eşti Iudeu, trăieşti ca Neamurile, şi nu ca Iudeii, cum sileşti pe Neamuri să trăiască în felul Iudeilor?``

¹⁵We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

¹⁵Noi sîntem Iudei din fire, iar nu păcătoşi dintre Neamuri.

¹⁶Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

¹⁶Totuş, fiindcă ştim că omul nu este socotit neprihănit, prin faptele Legii, ci numai prin credinţa în Isus Hristos, am crezut şi noi în Hristos Isus, ca să fim socotiţi neprihăniţi prin credinţa în Hristos, iar nu prin faptele Legii; pentrucă nimeni nu va fi socotit neprihănit prin faptele Legii.

¹⁷But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

¹⁷Dar dacă, în timp ce căutăm să fim socotiţi neprihăniţi în Hristos, şi noi înşine am fi găsiţi ca păcătoşi, este oare Hristos un slujitor al păcatului? Nicidecum!

¹⁸For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

¹⁸Căci, dacă zidesc iarăş lucrurile, pe cari le-am stricat, mă arăt ca un călcător de lege.

¹⁹For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

¹⁹Căci eu, prin Lege, am murit faţă de Lege, ca să trăiesc pentru Dumnezeu.

²⁰I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

²⁰Am fost răstignit împreună cu Hristos, şi trăiesc... dar nu mai trăiesc eu, ci Hristos trăieşte în mine. Şi viaţa, pe care o trăiesc acum în trup, o trăiesc în credinţa în Fiul lui Dumnezeu, care m'a iubit şi S'a dat pe Sine însuş pentru mine.

²¹I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

²¹Nu vreau să fac zădarnic harul lui Dumnezeu; căci dacă neprihănirea se capătă prin Lege, degeaba a murit Hristos.
