¹Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

¹Avraam a mai luat o nevastă, numită Chetura.

²And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

²Ea i -a născut pe Zimran, pe Iocşan, pe Medan, pe Madian, pe Işbac şi Şuah.

³And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

³Iocşan a născut pe Seba şi pe Dedan. Fiii lui Dedan au fost Aşurimii, Letuşimii şi Leumimii. -

⁴And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

⁴Fiii lui Madian au fost: Efa, Efer, Enoh, Abida şi Eldaa. Toţi aceştia sînt fiii Cheturei.

⁵And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

⁵Avraam a dat lui Isaac toate averile sale.

⁶But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

⁶Dar a dat daruri fiilor ţiitoarelor sale; şi, pe cînd era încă în viaţă, i -a îndepărtat de lîngă fiul său Isaac înspre răsărit, în ţara Răsăritului.

⁷And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

⁷Iată zilele anilor vieţii lui Avraam: el a trăit o sută şaptezeci şi cinci de ani.

⁸Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

⁸Avraam şi -a dat duhul, şi a murit, după o bătrîneţă fericită, înaintat în vîrstă şi sătul de zile; şi a fost adăugat la poporul său.

⁹And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

⁹Isaac şi Ismael, fiii săi, l-au îngropat în peştera Macpela, în ogorul lui Efron, fiul lui Ţohar, Hetitul, care este faţă în faţă cu Mamre.

¹⁰The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

¹⁰Acesta este ogorul, pe care -l cumpărase Avraam dela fiii lui Het. Acolo au fost îngropaţi Avraam şi nevastă-sa Sara.

¹¹And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.

¹¹După moartea lui Avraam, Dumnezeu a binecuvîntat pe fiul său Isaac. El locuia lîngă fîntîna ,,Lahai-Roi.``

¹²Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

¹²Iată spiţa neamului lui Ismael, fiul lui Avraam, pe care -l născuse lui Avraam Egipteanca Agar, roaba Sarei.

¹³And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

¹³Iată numele fiilor lui Ismael, după numele lor, după neamurile lor: Nebaiot, întîiul născut al lui Ismael; Chedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

¹⁴And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

¹⁴Mişma, Duma, Masa;

¹⁵Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

¹⁵Hadad, Tema, Ietur, Nafiş şi Chedma.

¹⁶These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

¹⁶Aceştia sînt fiii lui Ismael; acestea sînt numele lor, după satele şi taberele lor. Ei au fost cei doisprezece voievozi, după neamurile lor.

¹⁷And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.

¹⁷Şi iată anii vieţii lui Ismael: o sută treizeci şi şapte de ani. El şi -a dat duhul, şi a murit, şi a fost adăugat la poporul său.

¹⁸And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

¹⁸Fiii lui au locuit dela Havila pînă la Şur, care este în faţa Egiptului, cum mergi spre Asiria. El s'a aşezat în faţa tuturor fraţilor lui.

¹⁹And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:

¹⁹Iată spiţa neamului lui Isaac, fiul lui Avraam. Avraam a născut pe Isaac.

²⁰And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

²⁰Isaac era în vîrstă de patruzeci de ani, cînd a luat de nevastă pe Rebeca, fata lui Betuel, Arameul din Padan-Aram, şi sora lui Laban, Arameul.

²¹And Isaac entreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

²¹Isaac s'a rugat Domnului pentru nevastă-sa, căci era stearpă; şi Domnul l -a ascultat: nevastă-sa Rebeca a rămas însărcinată.

²²And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD.

²²Copiii se băteau în pîntecele ei; şi ea a zis: ,,Dacă -i aşa, pentru ce mai sînt însărcinată?`` S'a dus să întrebe pe Domnul.

²³And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

²³Şi Domnul i -a zis: ,,Două neamuri sînt în pîntecele tău, Şi două noroade se vor despărţi la ieşirea din pîntecele tău. Unul din noroadele acestea va fi mai tare decît celalt. Şi cel mai mare va sluji celui mai mic.``

²⁴And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

²⁴S'au împlinit zilele cînd avea să nască; şi iată că în pîntecele ei erau doi gemeni.

²⁵And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

²⁵Cel dintîi a ieşit roş de tot: ca o manta de păr, şi de aceea i-au pus numele Esau.

²⁶And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

²⁶Apoi a ieşit fratele său, care ţinea cu mîna de călcîi pe Esau; şi deaceea i-au pus numele Iacov. Isaac era în vîrstă de şasezeci de ani, cînd s'au născut ei.

²⁷And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

²⁷Băieţii aceştia s'au făcut mari. Esau a ajuns un vînător îndemînatic, un om care îşi petrecea vremea mai mult pe cîmp; dar Iacov era un om liniştit, care stătea acasă în corturi.

²⁸And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

²⁸Isaac iubea pe Esau, pentrucă mînca din vînatul lui; Rebeca însă iubea mai mult pe Iacov.

²⁹And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

²⁹Odată, pe cînd ferbea Iacov o ciorbă, Esau s'a întors dela cîmp, rupt de oboseală.

³⁰And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

³⁰Şi Esau a zis lui Iacov: ,,Dă-mi, te rog, să mănînc din ciorba aceasta roşiatică, fiindcă sînt rupt de oboseală.`` Pentru aceea s'a dat lui Esau numele Edom.

³¹And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

³¹Iacov a zis: ,,Vinde-mi azi dreptul tău de întîi născut!``

³²And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

³²Esau a răspuns: ,,Iată-mă, sînt pe moarte; la ce-mi slujeşte dreptul acesta de întîi născut?``

³³And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

³³Şi Iacov a zis: ,,Jură-mi întîi.`` Esau i -a jurat, şi astfel şi -a vîndut dreptul de întîi născut lui Iacov.

³⁴Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

³⁴Atunci Iacov a dat lui Esau pîne şi ciorbă de linte. El a mîncat şi a băut; apoi s'a sculat şi a plecat. Astfel şi -a nesocotit Esau dreptul de întîi născut.
