¹And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

¹Isaac a chemat pe Iacov, l -a binecuvîntat, şi i -a dat porunca aceasta: ,,Să nu-ţi iei nevastă dintre fetele lui Canaan.

²Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.

²Scoală-te, du-te la Padan-Aram, în casa lui Betuel, tatăl mamei tale, şi ia-ţi de acolo o nevastă, dintre fetele lui Laban, fratele mamei tale.

³And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

³Dumnezeul cel atotputernic să te binecuvinteze, să te facă să creşti şi să te înmulţeşti, ca să ajungi o ceată de noroade!

⁴And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

⁴Să-ţi dea binecuvîntarea lui Avraam, ţie şi seminţei tale cu tine, ca să stăpîneşti ţara în care locuieşti ca străin, şi pe care a dat -o lui Avraam.``

⁵And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.

⁵Şi Isaac a trimes pe Iacov, care s'a dus la Padan-Aram, la Laban, fiul lui Betuel, Arameul, fratele Rebecii, mama lui Iacov şi a lui Esau.

⁶When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

⁶Esau a văzut că Isaac binecuvîntase pe Iacov, şi -l trimesese la Padan-Aram, ca să-şi ia nevastă de acolo, şi că, binecuvîntîndu -l, îi dăduse porunca aceasta: ,,Să nu-ţi iei nevastă dintre fetele lui Canaan.``

⁷And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;

⁷A văzut că Iacov ascultase de tatăl său şi de mama sa, şi plecase la Padan-Aram.

⁸And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

⁸Esau a înţeles astfel că fetele lui Canaan nu -i plăceau tatălui său Isaac.

⁹Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

⁹Şi Esau s'a dus la Ismael. El a mai luat de nevastă, pe lîngă nevestele pe cari le avea, pe Mahalat, fata lui Ismael, fiul lui Avraam, şi sora lui Nebaiot.

¹⁰And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

¹⁰Iacov a plecat din Beer-Şeba, şi şi -a luat drumul spre Haran.

¹¹And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

¹¹A ajuns într'un loc unde a rămas peste noapte, căci asfinţise soarele. A luat o piatră de acolo, a pus -o căpătîi, şi s'a culcat în locul acela.

¹²And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

¹²Şi a visat o scară rezemată de pămînt, al cărei vîrf ajungea pînă la cer. Îngerii lui Dumnezeu se suiau şi se pogorau pe scara aceea.

¹³And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

¹³Şi Domnul stătea deasupra ei, şi zicea: ,,Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul tatălui tău Avraam, şi Dumnezeul lui Isaac.`` Pămîntul pe care eşti culcat, ţi -l voi da ţie şi seminţei tale.

¹⁴And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

¹⁴Sămînţa ta va fi ca pulberea pămîntului; te vei întinde la apus şi la răsărit, la mează-noapte şi la mează-zi; şi toate familiile pămîntului vor fi binecuvîntate în tine şi în sămînţa ta.

¹⁵And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

¹⁵Iată, Eu sînt cu tine; te voi păzi pretutindeni pe unde vei merge, şi te voi aduce înapoi în ţara aceasta; căci nu te voi părăsi, pînă nu voi împlini ce-ţi spun.``

¹⁶And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.

¹⁶Iacov s'a trezit din somn, şi a zis: ,,Cu adevărat, Domnul este în locul acesta, şi eu n'am ştiut.``

¹⁷And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

¹⁷I -a fost frică, şi a zis: ,,Cît de înfricoşat este locul acesta! Aici este casa lui Dumnezeu, aici este poarta cerurilor!``

¹⁸And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

¹⁸Şi Iacov s'a sculat dis de dimineaţă, a luat piatra pe care o pusese căpătîi, a pus -o ca stîlp de aducere aminte, şi a turnat untdelemn pe vîrful ei.

¹⁹And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

¹⁹A dat locului acestuia numele Betel; dar mai înainte cetatea se chema Luz.

²⁰And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

²⁰Iacov a făcut o juruinţă, şi a zis: ,,Dacă va fi Dumnezeu cu mine şi mă va păzi în timpul călătoriei pe care o fac, dacă-mi va da pîne să mănînc şi haine să mă îmbrac,

²¹So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

²¹şi dacă mă voi întoarce în pace în casa tatălui meu, atunci Domnul va fi Dumnezeul meu;

²²And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

²²piatra aceasta, pe care am pus -o ca stîlp de aducere aminte, va fi casa lui Dumnezeu, şi Îţi voi da a zecea parte din tot ce-mi vei da.``
