¹In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

¹În anul al doilea al împăratului Dariu, în ziua întîi a lunii a şasea, Cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit prin proorocul Hagai către Zorobabel, fiul lui Şealtiel, dregătorul lui Iuda, şi către Iosua, fiul lui Ioţadac, marele preot, astfel:

²Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.

²,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor: ,Poporul acesta zice: ,N'a venit încă vremea pentru zidirea din nou a Casei Domnului!`

³Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

³De aceea Cuvîntul Domnului le -a vorbit prin proorocul Hagai astfel:

⁴Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

⁴,,Dar pentru voi a venit oare vremea să locuiţi în case căptuşite cu tavan, cînd Casa aceasta este dărîmată?``

⁵Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

⁵Aşa vorbeşte acum Domnul oştirilor: ,,Uitaţi-vă cu băgare de seamă la căile voastre!

⁶Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

⁶Sămănaţi mult, şi strîngeţi puţin, mîncaţi, şi tot nu vă săturaţi, beţi, şi tot nu vă potoliţi setea, vă îmbrăcaţi, şi tot nu vă este cald; şi cine cîştigă o simbrie, o pune într'o pungă spartă!

⁷Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

⁷Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor: ,Uitaţi-vă cu băgare de seamă la căile voastre!

⁸Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

⁸Suiţi-vă pe munte, aduceţi lemne, şi zidiţi Casa! Eu Mă voi bucura de lucrul acesta, şi voi fi proslăvit, zice Domnul.``

⁹Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

⁹,,Vă aşteptaţi la mult, şi iată că aţi avut puţin; l-aţi adus acasă, dar Eu l-am suflat. Pentruce? zice Domnul oştirilor. Din pricina Casei Mele, care stă dărîmată, pe cînd fiecare din voi aleargă pentru casa lui.

¹⁰Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

¹⁰De aceea cerurile nu v'au dat roua, şi pămîntul nu şi -a dat roadele.

¹¹And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

¹¹Am chemat seceta peste ţară, peste munţi, peste grîu, peste must, peste untdelemn, peste tot ce poate aduce pămîntul, peste oameni şi peste vite, şi peste tot lucrul mînilor voastre.``

¹²Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

¹²Zorobabel, fiul lui Şealtiel, Iosua, fiul lui Ioţadac, marele preot, şi toată rămăşiţa poporului, au ascultat glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului lor, şi cuvintele proorocului Hagai, fiindcă Domnul, Dumnezeul lor, îl trimesese. Şi poporul s'a temut de Domnul.

¹³Then spake Haggai the LORD's messenger in the LORD's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.

¹³Hagai, trimesul Domnului, a zis poporului, după porunca Domnului: ,,Eu sînt cu voi, zice Domnul.``

¹⁴And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

¹⁴Domnul a trezit duhul lui Zorobabel, fiul lui Şealtiel, dregătorul lui Iuda, şi duhul lui Iosua, fiul lui Ioţadac, marele preot, şi duhul întregei rămăşiţe a poporului. Aşa că ei au venit..., şi s'au pus pe lucru în Casa Domnului oştirilor, Dumnezeul lor,
