¹When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

¹Cînd era tînăr Israel, îl iubeam, şi am chemat pe fiul Meu din Egipt.

²As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

²Dar cu cît proorocii îi chemau, cu atît ei se depărtau: au adus jertfe Baalilor, şi tămîie chipurilor idoleşti.

³I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

³Şi totuş Eu am învăţat pe Efraim să meargă, şi l-am ridicat în braţe; dar n'au văzut că Eu îi vindecam.

⁴I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

⁴I-am tras cu legături omeneşti, cu funii de dragoste, am fost pentru ei ca cel ce le ridică jugul de lîngă gură. M'am plecat spre ei şi le-am dat de mîncare.

⁵He shall not return into the land of Egypt, and the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.

⁵Nu se vor mai întoarce în ţara Egiptului; dar Asirianul va fi împăratul lor, pentrucă n'au voit să se întoarcă la Mine.

⁶And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.

⁶Sabia va năvăli peste cetăţile lor, va nimici, va mînca pe sprijinitorii lor, din pricina planurilor pe cari le-au făcut.

⁷And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

⁷Poporul Meu este pornit să se depărteze de Mine; şi dacă sînt chemaţi înapoi la Cel Prea Înalt, niciunul din ei nu caută să se ridice.

⁸How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

⁸,,Cum să te dau Efraime? Cum să te predau Israele? Cum să-ţi fac ca Admei? Cum să te fac ca Ţeboimul? Mi se sbate inima în Mine, şi tot lăuntrul Mi se mişcă de milă!

⁹I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

⁹Nu voi lucra după mînia Mea aprinsă, nu voi mai nimici pe Efraim; căci Eu sînt Dumnezeu, nu un om. Eu sînt Sfîntul în mijlocul tău, şi nu voi veni să prăpădesc.

¹⁰They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

¹⁰Ei vor urma pe Domnul, ca pe un leu care va răcni; căci El însuş va răcni, şi copiii vor alerga tremurînd dela apus.

¹¹They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.

¹¹Vor alerga tremurînd din Egipt, ca o pasăre, şi din ţara Asiriei, ca o porumbiţă. Şi -i voi face să locuiască în casele lor, zice Domnul.``

¹²Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

¹²Efraim mă înconjoară cu minciuni, şi casa lui Israel cu înşelătorii. Iuda este tot hoinar faţă de Dumnezeu, faţă de Cel Sfînt şi credincios.
