¹The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

¹Proorocia lui Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, despre Iuda şi Ierusalim, pe vremea lui Ozia, Iotam, Ahaz şi Ezechia, împăraţii lui Iuda.

²Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

²Ascultaţi, ceruri, şi ia aminte, pămîntule, căci Domnul vorbeşte: ,,Am hrănit şi am crescut nişte copii, dar ei s'au răsculat împotriva Mea.

³The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

³Boul îşi cunoaşte stăpînul, şi măgarul cunoaşte ieslea stăpînului său: dar Israel nu Mă cunoaşte, poporul Meu nu ia aminte la Mine.``

⁴Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

⁴Vai, neam păcătos, popor încărcat de fărădelegi, sămînţă de nelegiuiţi, copii stricaţi! Au părăsit pe Domnul, au dispreţuit pe Sfîntul lui Israel. I-au întors spatele...

⁵Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

⁵Ce pedepse noi să vă mai dea, cînd voi vă răzvrătiţi din ce în ce mai rău? Tot capul este bolnav, şi toată inima sufere de moarte!

⁶From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

⁶Din tălpi pînă'n creştet, nimic nu -i sănătos: ci numai răni, vînătăi şi carne vie, ne stoarse, ne legate, şi ne alinate cu untdelemn:

⁷Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

⁷ţara vă este pustiită, cetăţile vă sînt arse de foc, străinii vă mănîncă ogoarele supt ochii voştri, pustiesc şi nimicesc, ca nişte sălbatici.

⁸And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

⁸Şi fiica Sionului a rămas ca o colibă în vie, ca o covercă într'un cîmp de castraveţi, ca o cetate împresurată.

⁹Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

⁹De nu ne-ar fi lăsat Domnul oştirilor o mică rămăşiţă, am fi ajuns ca Sodoma, şi ne-am fi asemănat cu Gomora.

¹⁰Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

¹⁰Ascultaţi cuvîntul Domnului, căpetenii ale Sodomei! Ia aminte la Legea Dumnezeului nostru, popor al Gomorei!

¹¹To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

¹¹,,Ce-Mi trebuie Mie mulţimea jertfelor voastre, zice Domnul. Sînt sătul de arderile de tot ale berbecilor, şi de grăsimea viţeilor; nu-Mi place sîngele taurilor, oilor şi ţapilor.

¹²When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

¹²Cînd veniţi să vă înfăţişaţi înaintea Mea, cine vă cere astfel de lucruri, ca să-Mi spurcaţi curţile?

¹³Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

¹³Nu mai aduceţi daruri de mîncare nefolositoare, căci Mi -e scîrbă de tămîie! Nu vreau luni noi, Sabate şi adunări de sărbătoare, nu pot să văd nelegiuirea unită cu sărbătoarea!

¹⁴Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

¹⁴Urăsc lunile voastre cele noi şi praznicele voastre; Mi-au ajuns o povară, nu le mai pot suferi.

¹⁵And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

¹⁵Cînd vă întindeţi mînile, Îmi întorc ochii dela voi; şi ori cît de mult v'aţi ruga, n'ascult: căci mînile vă sînt pline de sînge!``

¹⁶Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

¹⁶,,Spălaţi-vă deci şi curăţiţi-vă! Luaţi dinaintea ochilor Mei faptele rele pe cari le-aţi făcut! Încetaţi să mai faceţi răul!

¹⁷Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

¹⁷Învăţaţi-vă să faceţi binele, căutaţi dreptatea, ocrotiţi pe cel asuprit, faceţi dreptate orfanului, apăraţi pe văduvă!`` -

¹⁸Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

¹⁸,,Veniţi totuş să ne judecăm, zice Domnul. De vor fi păcatele voastre cum e cîrmîzul, se vor face albe ca zăpada; de vor fi roşii ca purpura, se vor face ca lîna.

¹⁹If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

¹⁹De veţi voi şi veţi asculta, veţi mînca cele mai bune roade ale ţării;

²⁰But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

²⁰dar de nu veţi voi şi nu veţi asculta, de sabie veţi fi înghiţiţi, căci gura Domnului a vorbit.``

²¹How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

²¹Vai, cetatea aceea credincioasă, cum a ajuns o curvă! Era plină de judecată, dreptatea locuia în ea, şi acum e plină de ucigaşi!

²²Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

²²Argintul tău s'a prefăcut în zgură, şi vinul tău cel ales a fost amestecat cu apă.

²³Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

²³Mai marii tăi sînt răzvrătiţi şi părtaşi cu hoţii, toţi iubesc mita şi aleargă după plată; orfanului nu -i fac dreptate, şi pricina văduvei n'ajunge pînă la ei.

²⁴Therefore saith the LORD, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

²⁴De aceea, iată ce zice Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, Puternicul lui Israel: ,,Ah! Voi cere socoteala protivnicilor Mei, şi Mă voi răzbuna pe vrăjmaşii Mei.

²⁵And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

²⁵Îmi voi întinde mîna împotriva ta, îţi voi topi sgura, cum o topeşte leşia, toate părticelele de plumb le voi depărta din tine.

²⁶And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

²⁶Voi face iarăş pe judecătorii tăi ca odinioară, şi pe sfetnicii tăi ca la început. După aceea, vei fi numită cetatea neprihănită, cetatea credincioasă.``

²⁷Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

²⁷Sionul va fi mîntuit prin judecată, şi ceice se vor întoarce la Dumnezeu în el, vor fi mîntuiţi prin dreptate.

²⁸And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

²⁸Dar pieirea va atinge pe toţi cei răzvrătiţi şi păcătoşi, şi ceice părăsesc pe Domnul vor pieri.

²⁹For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

²⁹Vă va fi ruşine de terebinţii în cari găseaţi plăcere, şi veţi roşi din pricina grădinilor în cari vă desfătaţi;

³⁰For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

³⁰căci veţi fi ca un terebint cu frunzele ofilite, ca o grădină care n'are apă.

³¹And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

³¹Omul tare va fi ca un cîlţ, şi lucrarea lui ca o scînteie; amîndoi vor arde împreună, şi nimeni nu -i va stinge.
