¹And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

¹S'a întîmplat, pe vremea lui Ahaz, fiul lui Iotam, fiul lui Ozia, împăratul lui Iuda, că Reţin, împăratul Siriei, s'a suit cu Pecah, fiul lui Remalia, împăratul lui Israel, împotriva Ierusalimului, ca să -l bată; dar n'a putut să -l bată.

²And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

²Cînd au venit şi au spus casei lui David: ,,Sirienii au tăbărît în Efraim!`` a tremurat inima lui Ahaz şi inima poporului său, cum se clatină copacii din pădure cînd bate vîntul.

³Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;

³Atunci Domnul a zis lui Isaia: ,,Ieşi înaintea lui Ahaz, tu şi fiul tău Şear-Iaşub, la capătul canalului de apă al iazului de sus, pe drumul care duce la ogorul nălbitorului,

⁴And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

⁴şi spune -i: ,Ia seama şi fii liniştit; nu te teme de nimic, şi să nu ţi se moaie inima, din pricina acestor două cozi de tăciuni cari fumegă: din pricina mîniei lui Reţin şi a Siriei, şi din pricina fiului lui Remalia!

⁵Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

⁵Nu te teme că Siria gîndeşte rău împotriva ta, şi că Efraim şi fiul lui Remalia zic:

⁶Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:

⁶,Să ne suim împotriva lui Iuda, să batem cetatea, s'o spargem, şi să punem împărat în ea pe fiul lui Tabeel.``

⁷Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

⁷Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Aşa ceva nu se va întîmpla şi nu va avea loc.

⁸For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.

⁸Căci Damascul va fi capitala Siriei, şi Reţin va fi capitala Damascului. Şi peste şase zeci şi cinci de ani, Efraim va fi nimicit şi nu va mai fi un popor.

⁹And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

⁹Samaria va fi capitala lui Efraim, şi fiul lui Remalia va fi capul Samariei. Dacă nu credeţi, nu veţi sta în picioare.``

¹⁰Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

¹⁰Domnul a vorbit din nou lui Ahaz, şi i -a zis:

¹¹Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

¹¹,,Cere un semn dela Domnul, Dumnezeul tău; cere -l, fie în locurile de jos, fie în locurile de sus.``

¹²But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

¹²Ahaz a răspuns. ,,Nu vreau să cer nimic, ca să nu ispitesc pe Domnul.``

¹³And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

¹³Isaia a zis atunci: ,,Ascultaţi totuş, casa lui David! Nu vă ajunge oare să obosiţi răbdarea oamenilor, de mai obosiţi şi pe a Dumnezeului meu?

¹⁴Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

¹⁴De aceea Domnul însuş vă va da un semn: Iată, fecioara va rămînea însărcinată, va naşte un fiu, şi -i va pune numele Emanuel (Dumnezeu este cu noi).

¹⁵Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

¹⁵El va mînca smîntînă şi miere, pînă va şti să lepede răul şi să aleagă binele.

¹⁶For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

¹⁶Dar înainte ca să ştie copilul să lepede răul, şi să aleagă binele, ţara de ai cărei doi împăraţi te temi tu, va fi pustiită.``

¹⁷The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

¹⁷,,Domnul va aduce peste tine, peste poporul tău şi peste casa tatălui tău, zile cum n'au mai fost niciodată, din ziua cînd s'a despărţit Efraim de Iuda (adică pe împăratul Asiriei).

¹⁸And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

¹⁸În ziua aceea, Domnul va şuiera muştelor, dela capătul rîurilor Egiptului, şi albinelor din ţara Asiriei;

¹⁹And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.

¹⁹ele vor veni, şi se vor aşeza toate în vîlcelele pustii, şi în crăpăturile stîncilor, pe toate stufişurile, şi pe toate imaşurile.

²⁰In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

²⁰În ziua aceea, Domnul va rade, cu un brici luat cu chirie de dincolo de Rîu, şi anume cu împăratul Asiriei, capul şi părul de pe picioare; ba va rade chiar şi barba.

²¹And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;

²¹În ziua aceea, fiecare va hrăni numai o juncă şi două oi,

²²And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

²²şi vor da un aşa belşug de lapte în cît vor mînca smîntînă; căci cu smîntînă şi cu miere se vor hrăni toţi ceice vor rămînea în ţară.

²³And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.

²³În ziua aceea, orice loc care va avea o mie de butuci de viţă, preţuind o mie de sicli de argint, va fi lăsat pradă mărăcinilor şi spinilor:

²⁴With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

²⁴vor intra acolo cu săgeţi şi cu arcul, căci toată ţara nu va fi decît mărăcini şi spini.

²⁵And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.

²⁵Şi toţi munţii lucraţi cu cazmaua acum, nu vor mai fi cutreieraţi, de frica mărăcinilor şi a spinilor; vor da drumul boilor în ei, şi le vor bătături oile.
