¹And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

¹După Abimelec, s'a sculat Tola, fiul lui Pua, fiul lui Dodo, bărbat din Isahar, ca să izbăvească pe Israel; el locuia la Şamir, în muntele lui Efraim.

²And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.

²Tola a fost judecător în Israel douăzeci şi trei de ani; apoi a murit, şi a fost îngropat la Şamir.

³And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.

³După el, s'a sculat Iair, Galaaditul, care a fost judecător în Israel douăzeci şi doi de ani.

⁴And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havothjair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

⁴El avea treizeci de fii, cari călăreau pe treizeci de mînji de măgari, şi stăpîneau treizeci de cetăţi, numite şi azi cetăţile lui Iair, şi aşezate în ţara Galaadului.

⁵And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.

⁵Şi Iair a murit, şi a fost îngropat la Camon.

⁶And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.

⁶Copiii lui Israel au făcut iarăş ce nu plăcea Domnului; au slujit Baalilor şi Astarteelor, dumnezeilor Siriei, dumnezeilor Sidonului, dumnezeilor Moabului, dumnezeilor fiilor lui Amon, şi dumnezeilor Filistenilor, şi au părăsit pe Domnul, şi nu I-au mai slujit.

⁷And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.

⁷Domnul S'a aprins de mînie împotriva lui Israel, şi i -a vîndut în mînile Filistenilor şi în mînile fiilor lui Amon.

⁸And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

⁸Ei au apăsat şi au asuprit pe copiii lui Israel în vremea aceea optsprezece ani, şi anume: pe toţi copiii lui Israel cari erau de cealaltă parte a Iordanului în ţara Amoriţilor în Galaad.

⁹Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

⁹Fiii lui Amon au trecut Iordanul ca să se bată şi împotriva lui Iuda, împotriva lui Beniamin şi împotriva casei lui Efraim. Şi Israel era într'o mare strîmtorare.

¹⁰And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.

¹⁰Copiii lui Israel au strigat către Domnul, şi au zis: ,,Am păcătuit împotriva Ta, căci am părăsit pe Dumnezeul nostru şi am slujit Baalilor.``

¹¹And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

¹¹Domnul a zis copiilor lui Israel: ,,Nu v'am izbăvit Eu de Egipteni, de Amoriţi, de fiii lui Amon, şi de Filisteni?

¹²The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

¹²Şi cînd v'au apăsat Sidoniţii, Amalec şi Maon, şi aţi strigat către Mine, nu v'am izbăvit Eu din mînile lor?

¹³Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

¹³Dar voi M'aţi părăsit, şi aţi slujit altor dumnezei. De aceea nu vă voi mai izbăvi.

¹⁴Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

¹⁴Duceţi-vă şi chemaţi pe dumnezeii pe cari i-aţi ales; ei să vă izbăvească în vremea strîmtorării voastre!``

¹⁵And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

¹⁵Copiii lui Israel au zis Domnului: ,,Am păcătuit, fă-ne ce-Ţi va plăcea. Numai izbăveşte-ne astăzi!``

¹⁶And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

¹⁶Şi au scos dumnezeii străini din mijlocul lor, şi au slujit Domnului. El S'a îndurat de suferinţele lui Israel.

¹⁷Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.

¹⁷Fiii lui Amon s'au strîns şi au tăbărît în Galaad, şi copiii lui Israel s'au strîns şi au tăbărît la Miţpa.

¹⁸And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

¹⁸Poporul, şi căpeteniile Galaadului şi-au zis unul altuia: ,,Cine este omul care va începe lupta împotriva fiilor lui Amon? El va fi căpetenia tuturor locuitorilor Galaadului.``
