¹And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

¹Balaam a văzut că Domnul găseşte cu cale să binecuvinteze pe Israel, şi n'a mai alergat ca în celelalte rînduri la descîntece; ci şi -a întors faţa spre pustie.

²And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

²Balaam a ridicat ochii, şi a văzut pe Israel tăbărît în corturi, după seminţiile lui. Atunci Duhul lui Dumnezeu a venit peste el.

³And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

³Balaam şi -a rostit proorocia, şi a zis: ,,Iată ce zice Balaam, fiul lui Beor, Omul cu ochii deschişi,

⁴He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

⁴Celce aude cuvintele lui Dumnezeu, Celce vede vedenia Celui Atotputernic, Celce cade cu faţa la pămînt, şi ai cărui ochi sînt deschişi:

⁵How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!

⁵,,Ce frumoase sînt corturile tale, Iacove! Locuinţele tale, Israele!

⁶As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

⁶Ele se întind ca nişte văi, Ca nişte grădini lîngă un rîu, Ca nişte copaci de aloe pe cari i -a sădit Domnul, Ca nişte cedri pe lîngă ape.

⁷He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

⁷Apa curge din găleţile lui, Şi sămînţa lui este udată de ape mari. Împăratul lui se înalţă mai pe sus de Agag, Şi împărăţia lui ajunge puternică.

⁸God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

⁸Dumnezeu l -a scos din Egipt, Tăria lui este ca a bivolului pentru el. El nimiceşte neamurile cari se ridică împotriva lui, Le sfarmă oasele, şi le prăpădeşte cu săgeţile lui.

⁹He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

⁹Îndoaie genunchii, se culcă întocmai ca un leu, Ca o leoaică: Cine -l va scula? Binecuvîntat să fie oricine te va binecuvînta, Şi blestemat să fie oricine te va blestema!``

¹⁰And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

¹⁰Balac s'a aprins de mînie împotriva lui Balaam; a bătut din mîni, şi a zis lui Balaam: ,,Eu te-am chemat să-mi blestemi vrăjmaşii, şi iată că de trei ori tu i-ai binecuvîntat!

¹¹Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honor; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honor.

¹¹Fugi acum, şi du-te acasă! Spusesem că-ţi voi da cinste, dar Domnul te -a împedecat s'o primeşti.``

¹²And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,

¹²Balaam a răspuns lui Balac: ,,Eh! n'am spus eu oare solilor pe cari mi i-ai trimes,

¹³If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?

¹³că dacă mi-ar da Balac chiar şi casa lui plină cu argint şi cu aur, tot n'aş putea să fac dela mine însumi nici bine nici rău împotriva poruncii Domnului, ci voi spune întocmai ce va zice Domnul?

¹⁴And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

¹⁴Şi acum iată că mă duc la poporul meu. Vino, şi-ţi voi vesti ce va face poporul acesta poporului tău în vremile cari vor urma.``

¹⁵And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

¹⁵Balaam şi -a rostit proorocia, şi a zis: ,,Aşa zice Balaam, fiul lui Beor, Aşa zice omul care are ochii deschişi,

¹⁶He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

¹⁶Aşa zice cel ce aude cuvintele lui Dumnezeu, Cel ce cunoaşte planurile Celui Prea Înalt, Cel ce vede vedenia Celui Atotputernic, Cel ce cade cu faţa la pămînt şi ai cărui ochi sînt deschişi:

¹⁷I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

¹⁷Îl văd, dar nu acum, Îl privesc, dar nu de aproape. O stea răsare din Iacov, Un toiag de cîrmuire se ridică din Israel. El străpunge laturile Moabului, Şi prăpădeşte pe toţi copiii lui Set.

¹⁸And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.

¹⁸Se face stăpîn pe Edom, Se face stăpîn pe Seir, vrăjmaşii lui. Israel face fapte mari.

¹⁹Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

¹⁹Cel ce se naşte din Iacov domneşte ca stăpînitor, Şi pierde pe cei ce scapă din cetăţi.``

²⁰And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.

²⁰Balaam a văzut pe Amalec, şi a rostit următoarea proorocie: ,,Amalec este cel dintîi dintre neamuri, Dar într'o zi va fi nimicit.``

²¹And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling place, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.

²¹Balaam a văzut pe Cheniţi, şi a rostit următoarea proorocie: ,,Locuinţa ta este tare de tot, Şi cuibul tău este pus pe stîncă.

²²Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.

²²Dar Cain va fi pustiit, Pînă ce te va lua prins Asur.``

²³And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!

²³Balaam a rostit următoarea proorocie: ,,Vai! cine va mai putea trăi cînd va face Dumnezeu acest lucru?

²⁴And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.

²⁴Dar nişte corăbii vor veni din Chitim, Vor smeri pe Asur, vor smeri pe Eber, Şi la urmă vor fi nimicite şi ele.``

²⁵And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.

²⁵Balaam s'a sculat, a plecat, şi s'a întors acasă. Balac a plecat şi el acasă.
