¹Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

¹A o tom, čo sa zabíja a obetuje modlám, vieme, že máme všetci známosť. - Známosť nadúva, ale láska vzdeláva.

²And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

²Ale ak niekto myslí, že niečo vie, ešte nepoznal ničoho, jako treba poznať.

³But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

³Ale ak niekto miluje Boha, ten je poznaný od neho.

⁴As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.

⁴Teda o jedení obetovaného modlám vieme, že modla nie je ničím na svete, a že nieto niktorého iného Boha krome jedného.

⁵For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

⁵Lebo keď aj sú takzvaní bohovia, už či na nebi či na zemi, tak ako je mnoho bohov a mnoho pánov,

⁶But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

⁶ale my máme jedného Boha, Otca, z ktorého všetko, a my cieľom neho, a jeden Pán Ježiš Kristus, skrze ktorého všetko, aj my skrze neho.

⁷Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

⁷Ale nie vo všetkých je tá známosť, lež niektorí zvykom až doteraz jedia z obeti modly jako ozaj obetované modle, a ich svedomie súc slabé poškvrňuje sa.

⁸But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

⁸Ale pokrm nás neurobí milšími Bohu ani horšími pred Bohom, lebo ani keď budeme jesť, nebudeme viacej, ani keď nebudeme jesť, nebudeme menej.

⁹But take heed lest by any means this liberty of your's become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

⁹Ale hľaďte, aby toto vaše právo nebolo nejako urážkou slabým.

¹⁰For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

¹⁰Lebo keď vidí niekto teba, ktorý máš známosť, sedieť v chráme modly pri stole, či nebude jeho svedomie preto, že je slabý, zbudované, ale tak, aby tiež jedol obetované modlám?

¹¹And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

¹¹A tvojou známosťou hynie slabý, brat, pre ktorého zomrel Kristus!

¹²But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

¹²A takto hrešiac proti bratom a bijúc ich slabé svedomie hrešíte proti Kristovi.

¹³Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

¹³A preto, ak pokrm pohoršuje môjho brata, nebudem jesť mäsa na veky, aby som nepohoršil svojho brata.
