¹And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.

¹A Chíram, kráľ Týru, poslal svojich služobníkov k Šalamúnovi, pretože počul, že jeho pomazali za kráľa namiesto jeho otca, lebo Chíram miloval Dávida po všetky dni.

²And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

²A Šalamún tiež poslal svojich služobníkov k Chíramovi povediac:

³Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

³Ty si znal Dávida, môjho otca, a vieš, že nemohol vystaviť dom menu Hospodina, svojho Boha, pre vojny, ktoré ho obkľučovaly, dokiaľ ich nedal Hospodin pod jeho nohy.

⁴But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

⁴Ale teraz dal Hospodin, môj Bôh, mne odpočinutia zo všetkých strán; niet protivníka, ktorý by útočil, ani niet nijakej zlej príhody.

⁵And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.

⁵A preto hľa, zamýšľam vystaviť dom menu Hospodina, svojho Boha, tak ako hovoril Hospodin Dávidovi, môjmu otcovi, povediac: Tvoj syn, ktorého dám namiesto teba, aby sedel na tvojom tróne, ten vystaví môjmu menu dom.

⁶Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.

⁶Preto teraz rozkáž, aby mi narúbali cedier a dopravili s Libanona. A moji služobníci budú s tvojimi služobníkmi, a mzdu tvojich služobníkov dám tebe, všetko tak, ako povieš: lebo ty vieš, že nie je medzi nami nikoho, kto by tak vedel rúbať alebo obrábať drevo jako Sidonci.

⁷And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.

⁷A stalo sa, keď počul Chíram slová Šalamúnove, že sa veľmi radoval a riekol: Nech je požehnaný Hospodin dnes, ktorý dal Dávidovi múdreho syna nad tým tak mnohým ľudom!

⁸And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.

⁸A Chíram poslal k Šalamúnovi posolstvo a riekol: Počul som, o čo si poslal ku mne. Ja vykonám každú tvoju vôľu čo do cedrového dreva i čo do jedľového dreva.

⁹My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.

⁹Moji služobníci dopravia drevo s Libanona k moru, a ja ich dám poskladať do vorov a odplaviť po mori až na miesto, o ktorom mi pošleš slovo, a tam ich dám rozhodiť, a ty poberieš. A zase ty vyplníš moju žiadosť dodávajúc potravu môjmu domu.

¹⁰So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.

¹⁰A tak dával Chíram Šalamúnovi cedrové drevo i jedľové drevo, koľko a jaké len si žiadal.

¹¹And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

¹¹A zase Šalamún dal Chíramovi dvadsať tisíc korov pšenice na potravu pre jeho dom a dvadsať korov najlepšieho oleja tlčeného. Tak dával Šalamún Chíramovi rok po roku.

¹²And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.

¹²A tedy Hospodin dal Šalamúnovi múdrosť, ako mu hovoril, a bol pokoj medzi Chíramom a medzi Šalamúnom, a učinili spolu smluvu.

¹³And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

¹³A kráľ Šalamún dal vybrať dávku z celého Izraela, a tej dávky bolo tridsať tisíc mužov.

¹⁴And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.

¹⁴A posielal ich na Libanon po desať tisíc každý mesiac na zámenu; mesiac boli na Libanone a dva mesiace každý doma. A Adonirám bol ustanovený nad tou dávkou.

¹⁵And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;

¹⁵A Šalamún mal sedemdesiat tisíc takých, ktorí nosili bremená, a osemdesiat tisíc, ktorí kresali kamene na vrchu.

¹⁶Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

¹⁶Krome kniežatských úradníkov Šalamúnových, ktorí boli nad dielom, bolo tri tisíce tristo takých, ktorí vládli nad ľudom, nad tými, ktorí konali dielo.

¹⁷And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.

¹⁷A kráľ rozkázal, aby nalámali veľkých kameňov, drahocenných kameňov, založiť dom, tesaných kameňov.

¹⁸And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.

¹⁸A tak tesali stavitelia Šalamúnovi i stavitelia Chíramovi i Gibeľania a pripravovali drevo i kamenie pre stavbu domu.
