¹The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

¹Tedy starších medzi vami prosím spolustarší a svedok utrpení Kristových, ktorým som aj účastníkom slávy, ktorá sa má zjaviť;

²Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

²paste stádo Božie, ktoré je medzi vami, dozerajúc nie z prinútenia, ale dobrovoľne, radi, ani nie pre mrzký zisk, ale ochotne,

³Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

³ani nie ako panujúci nad dedičstvom Pánovým, ale súc príkladom stádu.

⁴And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

⁴A keď sa ukáže Arcipastier, odnesiete si neuvädnuteľnú korunu slávy.

⁵Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

⁵Podobne mladší, podriaďte sa starším, a všetci, podriaďujúc sa jedni druhým, oblečte sa do pokory, pretože Bôh sa pyšným protiví a pokorným dáva milosť.

⁶Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

⁶Pokorte sa tedy pod mocnú ruku Božiu, aby vás povýšil svojím časom.

⁷Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

⁷Každú svoju starosť uhoďte na neho, lebo on sa stará o vás.

⁸Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

⁸Buďte triezvi a bdejte, lebo váš protivník, diabol, obchádza ako revúci lev a hľadá, koho by zožral,

⁹Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

⁹ktorému sa postavte na odpor, pevní vo viere, vediac, že vaše bratstvo inde po svete znáša tie isté utrpenia.

¹⁰But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

¹⁰Ale Bôh každej milosti, ktorý nás povolal do svojej večnej slávy v Kristu Ježišovi, keď ešte málo potrpíte, on sám vás dokoná, upevní, zmocní, položí na pevný základ.

¹¹To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

¹¹Jemu sláva i sila na veky vekov. Ameň.

¹²By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

¹²Po Silvánovi, vám vernom bratovi, jako myslím, som vám krátko napísal napomínajúc a dosvedčujúc, že to je tá pravá milosť Božia, ku ktorej ste prišli a v ktorej stojíte.

¹³The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

¹³Pozdravuje vás spoluvyvolená cirkev v Babylone aj Marek, môj syn.
