¹I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

¹Napomínam tedy, aby sa predovšetkým konaly prosby, modlitby, prímluvy a poďakovania za všetkých ľudí,

²For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

²za kráľov a za všetkých, ktorí sú vo vysokom postavení, aby sme žili pokojný a tichý život vo všetkej pobožnosti a počestnosti.

³For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

³Lebo to je dobré a príjemné pred naším Spasiteľom Bohom,

⁴Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

⁴ktorý chce, aby všetci ľudia boli spasení a prišli k poznaniu pravdy.

⁵For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

⁵Lebo je jeden Bôh, jeden aj prostredník Boha a ľudí, človek Kristus Ježiš,

⁶Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

⁶ktorý dal sám seba jako výmenné za všetkých, svedoctvo to vo svojich časoch,

⁷Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

⁷na čo som ja postavený za hlásateľa a apoštola, hovorím pravdu v Kristovi, neklamem, za učiteľa pohanov vo viere a v pravde.

⁸I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

⁸Chcem tedy, aby sa mužovia modlili na každom mieste a pozdvihovali sväté ruky bez hnevu a bez pochybovania.

⁹In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

⁹Tak iste aj ženy, v rúchu zdobnom a slušnom, ozdobovať sa so stydlivosťou a rozumnosťou, nie zápletami a zlatom alebo perlami alebo drahým rúchom,

¹⁰But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

¹⁰ale to, čo sluší ženám, ktoré priznávajúc sa k Bohu sľubujú bohabojnosť, dobrými skutkami.

¹¹Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

¹¹Žena nech sa v tichosti učí s celou poddanosťou.

¹²But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

¹²A žene nedovoľujem učiť ani vládnuť nad mužom, ale nech je ticho.

¹³For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

¹³Lebo Adam bol stvorený prvý, až potom Eva.

¹⁴And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

¹⁴Ani Adam nebol zvedený, ale žena súc zvedená dopustila sa prestúpenia.

¹⁵Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

¹⁵No, bude spasená rodením detí, ak zostanú, ony ženy, vo viere a láske a v posvätení s rozumnosťou.
