¹And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

¹A Šalamún, syn Dávidov, sa posilnil nad svojím kráľovstvom, a Hospodin, jeho Bôh, bol s ním a zveličil ho vysoko.

²Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.

²A vtedy riekol Šalamún celému Izraelovi, veliteľom tisícov a stov a sudcom a všetkým kniežatám celého Izraela, hlavám otcov, aby išli do Gibeona.

³So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.

³A tak išli, Šalamún i celé shromaždenie s ním, na výšinu, ktorá bola v Gibeone; lebo tam bol stán shromaždenia Božieho, ktorý bol učinil Mojžiš, služobník Hospodinov, na púšti.

⁴But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

⁴Ale truhlu Božiu bol dopravil Dávid z Kirjat-jearima hore na miesto, ktoré jej bol pripravil, on Dávid, lebo jej bol roztiahol stán v Jeruzaleme.

⁵Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.

⁵Avšak medený oltár, ktorý bol urobil Becaleel, syn Úriho, syna Húrovho, bol tam pred príbytkom Hospodinovým. A Šalamún ho vyhľadával i shromaždenie.

⁶And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

⁶A Šalamún tam obetoval pred Hospodinom na medenom oltári, ktorý patril stánu shromaždenia, a obetoval na ňom tisíc zápalných obetí.

⁷In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

⁷Tej noci sa ukázal Bôh Šalamúnovi a riekol mu: Žiadaj si, čo ti mám dať!

⁸And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

⁸Na to povedal Šalamún Bohu: Ty si učinil Dávidovi, môjmu otcovi, veľkú milosť a tiež i mňa si učinil kráľom namiesto neho.

⁹Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

⁹Teraz tedy, Hospodine, Bože, nech stojí verne tvoje slovo u Dávida, môjho otca, lebo ty si ma učinil kráľom nad ľudom, ktorého je tak mnoho, jako je prachu na zemi.

¹⁰Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

¹⁰Preto teraz mi daj múdrosť a vedomosť, aby som vedel vychádzať pred týmto ľudom a vchádzať, lebo ktože by mohol súdiť tento tvoj ľud, tak veliký?!

¹¹And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

¹¹Vtedy riekol Bôh Šalamúnovi: Preto, že to bolo v tvojom srdci, a že si nežiadal bohatstva pokladov ani slávy ani duše tých, ktorí ťa nenávidia, ani si nežiadal dlhého veku, ale že si si žiadal múdrosť a vedomosť, aby si mohol súdiť môj ľud, nad ktorým som ťa učinil kráľom,

¹²Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

¹²nuž daná ti je múdrosť a vedomosť, k čomu ti dám ešte i bohatstvo i poklady i slávu, jako toho nemali kráľovia, ktorí boli pred tebou, ani nebude mať niktorý tak mnoho po tebe.

¹³Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

¹³Potom prišiel Šalamún zo svojej cesty na výšinu, ktorá bola v Gibeone, zpred stánu shromaždenia do Jeruzalema a kraľoval nad Izraelom.

¹⁴And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

¹⁴A Šalamún nashromaždil vozov a jazdcov, takže mal tisíc štyristo vozov a dvanásť tisíc jazdcov, a umiestil ich v mestách vozov a u kráľa v Jeruzaleme.

¹⁵And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

¹⁵A kráľ nahromadil striebra a zlata v Jeruzaleme jako kamenia a cedrového dreva nahromadil ako sykomôr, ktorých rastie na rovine množstvo.

¹⁶And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

¹⁶Kone dovádzali Šalamúnovi z Egypta, a hromada kupcov kráľových brala odtiaľ hromadu koní za peniaze.

¹⁷And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

¹⁷A tak privážali hore a vyvážali z Egypta voz za šesťsto šeklov striebra a koňa za stopäťdesiat a tak vodili odtiaľ svojou rukou, jako sprostredkovatelia, pre všetkých kráľov Hetejov a pre kráľov Sýrie.
