¹The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

¹Starší vyvolenej panej i jej deťom, ktorých ja milujem v pravde a nie len ja sám, ale aj všetci, ktorí poznali pravdu,

²For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

²pre pravdu, ktorá zostáva v nás, a bude s nami na veky.

³Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

³Nech je s vami milosť, milosrdenstvo a pokoj od Boha Otca a od Pána Ježiša Krista, Syna Otcovho, v pravde a láske.

⁴I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

⁴Veľmi som sa zaradoval, že som našiel z tvojich detí takých, ktorí chodia v pravde, tak ako sme dostali prikázanie od Otca.

⁵And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

⁵A teraz ťa prosím, pani, nie ako čo by som ti písal nové prikázanie, ale to, ktoré sme mali od počiatku: aby sme milovali jedni druhých.

⁶And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

⁶A toto je tá láska, aby sme chodili podľa jeho prikázaní. To je to prikázanie, ako ste počuli od počiatku, aby ste v nej chodili.

⁷For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

⁷Lebo mnohí bludári vyšli do sveta, ktorí nevyznávajú Ježiša Krista, prišlého v tele. To je ten bludár a antikrist.

⁸Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

⁸Majte na seba pozor, aby sme neztratili toho, čoho sme sa doteraz dopracovali, ale aby sme dostali plnú mzdu.

⁹Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

⁹Každý, kto ide ďalej a nezostáva v učení Kristovom, nemá Boha. Kto zostáva v učení Kristovom, ten má Otca i Syna.

¹⁰If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

¹⁰Ak ide niekto k vám a nenesie toho učenia, neprijímajte ho do domu ani ho nepozdravujte.

¹¹For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

¹¹Lebo ten, kto ho pozdravuje, účastní sa jeho zlých skutkov.

¹²Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

¹²Hoci vám mám mnoho čo písať, nechcel som papierom a černidlom, ale sa nadejem, že prijdem k vám a budem hovoriť ústa k ústam, aby bola naša radosť naplnená.

¹³The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

¹³Pozdravujú ťa deti tvojej vyvolenej sestry. Ameň.
