¹Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

¹A Agrippa povedal Pavlovi: Dovoľuje sa ti hovoriť za seba. Vtedy vystrel Pavel ruku a bránil sa:

²I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

²Za šťastného sa považujem, kráľu Agrippa, že sa mám dnes brániť pred tebou ohľadom všetkého, čo na mňa žalujú Židia,

³Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

³a zvlášte preto, že si ty znalcom všetkých obyčají a sporných otázok u Židov. Preto ťa prosím, žeby si ma trpezlive vypočul.

⁴My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;

⁴Teda jaký bol môj život od mladosti, od počiatku v mojom národe a v Jeruzaleme, to vedia všetci Židia,

⁵Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

⁵ktorí ma znajú od prvopočiatku, keby chceli dosvedčiť, že podľa najakurátnejšej sekty našeho náboženstva som žil ako farizeus.

⁶And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:

⁶A tiež aj teraz pre nádej na zasľúbenie, ktoré dal Bôh našim otcom, stojím pred súdom,

⁷Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

⁷ku ktorému zasľúbeniu nadeje sa dojsť našich dvanásť pokolení slúžiac v napätí dňom i nocou Bohu. Pre túto nádej žalujú na mňa Židia, kráľu Agrippa.

⁸Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

⁸Čo, vy súdite, že je to neuveriteľné, ak Bôh kriesi mŕtvych?

⁹I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

⁹Nuž ja som myslel v sebe, že musím urobiť menu Ježiša Nazarejského mnoho na priekor,

¹⁰Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

¹⁰čo som aj urobil v Jeruzaleme a mnoho zo svätých som ja pozatváral do žalárov dostanúc splnomocnenie od najvyšších kňazov, a keď ich zabíjali, dával som proti nim hlas

¹¹And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

¹¹a po všetkých synagógach som ich často trestal a nútil som rúhať sa a náramne zúriac proti nim prenasledoval som až i do vonkajších miest cudzích.

¹²Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

¹²V takej veci som tiež išiel aj do Damašku so splnomocenstvom a s dovolením od najvyšších kňazov.

¹³At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

¹³A tu na poludnie, na ceste som videl, ó, kráľu, z neba nad jasnosť slnca jasnejšie svetlo, ktoré razom obkľúčilo mňa i tých, ktorí išli so mnou.

¹⁴And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

¹⁴A keď sme všetci padli na zem, počul som hlas, ktorý mi vravel hebrejským nárečím: Saule, Saule, prečo ma prenasleduješ? Tvrdo ti bude proti ostňu sa vzpečovať.

¹⁵And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.

¹⁵A ja som povedal: Kto si, Pane? A Pán povedal: Ja som Ježiš, ktorého ty prenasleduješ.

¹⁶But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

¹⁶Ale vstaň a postav sa na svoje nohy, lebo nato som sa ti ukázal, aby som si ťa zvolil za služobníka a za svedka i toho, čo si videl, i toho, pre čo sa ti ešte ukážem

¹⁷Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

¹⁷vytrhujúc ťa z rúk izraelského ľudu a z moci pohanov, ku ktorým ťa ja teraz posielam,

¹⁸To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

¹⁸aby si otvoril ich oči, aby sa obrátili od tmy k svetlu a od moci satana k Bohu, aby dostali odpustenie hriechov a podiel medzi posvätenými vierou, vierou vo mňa.

¹⁹Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

¹⁹A preto, kráľu Agrippa, nebol som neposlušný nebeskému videniu;

²⁰But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

²⁰ale tým v Damašku najprv i Jeruzalemu jako aj celej zemi Judskej i pohanom som zvestoval, aby činili pokánie a obrátili sa k Bohu a činili skutky, hodné pokánia.

²¹For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

²¹Preto ma Židia sobrali v chráme a pokúšali sa o to, aby ma zabili.

²²Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

²²Ale dostanúc pomoc od Boha stojím až do dnešného dňa a svedčím i malému i veľkému nehovoriac ničoho iného, iba to, čo vraveli proroci, že sa bude diať, i Mojžiš,

²³That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

²³totiž že či je to možné, aby Kristus mohol trpieť a či prvý zo zmŕtvychvstania mŕtvych bude zvestovať izraelskému ľudu i pohanom svetlo.

²⁴And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

²⁴A keď sa týmto bránil, povedal Festus velikým hlasom: Blázniš, Pavle. Tá tvoja veľká učenosť ťa ženie do bláznovstva.

²⁵But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

²⁵Ale Pavel povedal: Nebláznim, výborný Feste, ale hovorím slová pravdy a zdravého rozumu.

²⁶For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

²⁶Lebo veď kráľ vie o týchto veciach, ktorému i smelo hovorím, lebo som presvedčený, že nieto ničoho z toho, o čom by nevedel, lebo veď sa to nepodialo voľakde v kúte.

²⁷King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

²⁷Či veríš, kráľu Agrippa, prorokom? Viem, že veríš.

²⁸Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

²⁸A Agrippa povedal Pavlovi: Bez mála by si ma nahovoril stať sa kresťanom.

²⁹And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

²⁹Ale Pavel riekol: Žiadal by som si od Boha, i bez mála i bez mnoha, aby si sa nie len ty, ale aby sa i všetci, ktorí ma dnes čujú stali takými, jako so i ja, krome týchto pút.

³⁰And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:

³⁰A keď to povedal, povstal kráľ i vladár i Bernika aj tí, ktorí sedeli s nimi,

³¹And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

³¹a keď sa vzdialili, hovorili medzi sebou a vraveli: Tento človek nerobí ničoho, čo by bolo hodno smrti alebo pút.

³²Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.

³²A Agrippa povedal Festovi: Tento človek mohol byť prepustený, keby sa nebol odvolal na cisára.
