¹To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

¹Všetko má svoj čas a svoju hodinu každá vec pod nebom.

²A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

²Je čas rodeniu sa a čas umieraniu, čas sadeniu a čas vytrhávaniu toho, čo bolo zasadené,

³A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

³čas zabíjaniu a čas hojeniu, čas boreniu a čas staväniu,

⁴A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

⁴čas plakaniu a čas smiatiu, čas smúteniu a čas poskakovaniu,

⁵A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

⁵čas hádzaniu kameňov a čas shromažďovaniu kameňov, čas objímaniu a čas vzdialeniu sa od objímania,

⁶A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

⁶čas hľadaniu a čas trateniu, čas chráneniu a čas odhadzovaniu,

⁷A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

⁷čas trhaniu a čas sošívaniu, čas mlčaniu a čas hovoreniu,

⁸A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

⁸čas milovaniu a čas nenávideniu, čas vojne a čas pokoju.

⁹What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

⁹Jaký užitok má ten, kto voľačo robí, z toho, čím sa trudí?

¹⁰I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

¹⁰Videl som zamestnanie, ktoré dal Bôh synom človeka, aby sa ním trápili.

¹¹He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

¹¹Učinil všetko krásne v svoj čas, i večnosť dal do ich srdca, iba že človek nevystihne diela, ktoré koná Bôh, a to tak od počiatku až po koniec.

¹²I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

¹²Viem, že nemajú ničoho lepšieho, než aby sa každý radoval a robil dobré vo svojom živote.

¹³And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

¹³Ale aj to, keď ktorýkoľvek človek jedol a pil a videl dobré z ktorejkoľvek svojej práce, je dar Boží.

¹⁴I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

¹⁴Viem, že všetko, čokoľvek činí Bôh, bude trvať na veky: nedá sa nič k tomu pridať, ani sa nedá nič od toho odňať, a Bôh to tak učinil preto, aby sa báli pred ním.

¹⁵That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

¹⁵To, čo je, bolo už dávno, a to, čo bude, tiež už bolo dávno, a Bôh vyhľadáva to, čo bolo zahnané.

¹⁶And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

¹⁶A ďalej som videl pod slnkom: miesto súdu, a tam bezbožnosť, a miesto spravedlivosti, a tam tiež bezbožnosť.

¹⁷I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

¹⁷Povedal som vo svojom srdci: Bôh bude súdiť i spravedlivého i bezbožného, lebo každá vec má svoj čas, a tam sa prijde na každý skutok.

¹⁸I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

¹⁸Povedal som vo svojom srdci: Deje sa to pre synov človeka, aby ich Bôh cúdil, a aby videli, že sú si podobní hovädám.

¹⁹For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

¹⁹Lebo to, čo prichádza na synov človeka, prichádza i na hovädá; jedno a to isté prichádza na nich. Jako zomiera toto, tak zomiera i tamto, a všetko to má jedného a toho istého ducha, ani nemá človek nič viacej ako hovädo, lebo je všetko márnosť.

²⁰All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

²⁰Všetko ide na jedno a na to isté miesto; všetko povstalo z prachu a všetko sa navráti do prachu.

²¹Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

²¹Kto vie, či duch synov človeka vystupuje hore, alebo či duch hoviad sostupuje dolu do zeme?

²²Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

²²A tak som videl, že nie je ničoho lepšieho nad to, než aby sa človek radoval vo svojich dielach, lebo to je jeho podiel. Lebo kto ho dovedie zpät, aby videl to, čo bude po ňom?
