¹After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

¹Po týchto udalostiach zveličil kráľ Ahasver Hámana, syna Hammedátu Agagského, a vyvýšil ho, takže postavil jeho stolicu nado všetky kniežatá, ktoré boly s ním.

²And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

²A všetci služobníci kráľovi, ktorí boli v bráne kráľovej, kľakali a klaňali sa Hámanovi, lebo tak bol rozkázal o ňom kráľ; ale Mardocheus nekľakol ani sa nepoklonil.

³Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?

³Vtedy povedali služobníci kráľovi, ktorí boli v bráne kráľovej, Mardocheovi: Prečo ty prestupuješ prikázanie kráľovo?

⁴Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

⁴A stalo sa, keď mu len hovorili o tom deň ako deň, a neposlúchol ich, že to oznámili Hámanovi, aby videli, či budú stáť slová Mardocheove, lebo im oznámil, že je on Žid.

⁵And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

⁵A keď videl Háman, že Mardocheus nekľaká ani sa mu neklania, vtedy bol Háman naplnený veľkým hnevom.

⁶And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

⁶A pohŕdal ním vo svojich očiach natoľko, že nepovažoval toho za hodné vystrieť ruku len na samého Mardochea; lebo mu boli oznámili národ Mardocheov, a tak hľadal Háman vyhladiť všetkých Židov, kde ktorí boli v celom kráľovstve Ahasverovom, celý národ Mardocheov.

⁷In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

⁷A tedy prvého mesiaca, ktorý to mesiac je mesiac nísan, dvanásteho roku kráľa Ahasvera, hodili púr, to jest los, pred Hámanom, a tak hádzali zo dňa na deň a z mesiaca na mesiac, až do dvanásteho, ktorý to mesiac je adar.

⁸And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

⁸A Háman riekol kráľovi Ahasverovi: Je nejaký národ, rozptýlený a oddelený od iných medzi národami po všetkých krajinách tvojho kráľovstva, a ich, toho národa zákony sú rozdielne od zákonov všetkých národov, a kráľových zákonov nezachovávajú. Preto nie je to na prospech kráľovi nechať ich na pokoji.

⁹If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

⁹Jestli sa to vidí kráľovi za dobré, nech sa napíše, aby ich vyhubili, a odvážim desať tisíc hrivien striebra do rúk tým, ktorí konajú kráľovu prácu, aby ich vniesli medzi poklady kráľove.

¹⁰And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

¹⁰A kráľ snímuc svoj prsteň so svojej ruky dal ho Hámanovi, synovi Hammedatovmu, Agagskému, protivníkovi Židov.

¹¹And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

¹¹A kráľ povedal Hámanovi: To striebro je dané tebe i ten ľud, aby si s ním spravil to, čo sa ti ľúbi.

¹²Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.

¹²Vtedy boli povolaní pisári kráľovi, prvého mesiaca, trinásteho dňa. Toho dňa bolo napísané všetko tak, ako to rozkázal Háman vladárom kráľovým a vojvodom, ktorí boli nad každou krajinou, a kniežatám každého národa, každej krajine podľa jej písma a každému národu podľa jeho jazyka; v mene kráľa Ahasvera to bolo napísané a zapečatené prsteňom kráľovým.

¹³And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

¹³A listy boly poslané po behúňoch do všetkých krajín kráľových, aby plienili, vraždili a zahubili všetkých Židov od mladého do starého, deti i ženy jedného dňa, trinásteho dňa dvanásteho mesiaca, ktorý to mesiac je mesiac adar, a ich ulúpený majetok aby pobrali za korisť.

¹⁴The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.

¹⁴Odpis toho písma, aby bol vydaný taký zákon po všetkých jednotlivých krajinách, bol poslaný otvorený, verejný všetkým národom, aby boli hotoví na ten deň.

¹⁵The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

¹⁵Vtedy vyšli behúni, hnaní slovom kráľovým, aby sa ponáhľali. A zákon bol vydaný na hrade Súsane. A kráľ a Háman si sadli, aby pili, kým mesto Súsan bolo celé zdesené a zmätené.
