¹On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.

¹V tú noc utekal spánok od kráľa, takže nemohol zaspať, a preto rozkázal doniesť knihu pamätí, letopisy, ktoré boly potom čítané pred kráľom.

²And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.

²A našlo sa tam napísané, že Mardocheus bol oznámil o Bigtánovi a Térešovi, o dvoch komorníkoch kráľových zpomedzi strážcov prahu, že hľadali príležitosť vystrieť ruku na kráľa Ahasvera.

³And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.

³Vtedy povedal kráľ: Aká česť a hodnosť sa dostala za to Mardocheovi? A mládenci kráľovi, jeho služobníci, riekli: Nedostal nijakej odmeny.

⁴And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

⁴A kráľ povedal: Kto je to na dvore? A to bol prišiel Háman, do vonkajšieho dvora domu kráľovho povedať kráľovi, aby obesili Mardochea na šibenici, ktorú mu pripravil.

⁵And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.

⁵A mládenci kráľovi mu riekli: Hľa, Háman stojí na dvore. A kráľ povedal: Nech vojde!

⁶So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?

⁶A keď vošiel Háman, riekol mu kráľ: Čo sa má urobiť mužovi, ktorého chce kráľ ctiť? A Háman si povedal vo svojom srdci: Komu inému by chcel kráľ preukázať česť krome mne?

⁷And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,

⁷A tak povedal Háman kráľovi: Čo do muža, ktorého chce kráľ ctiť:

⁸Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:

⁸Nech donesú kráľovské rúcho, ktoré nosí kráľ, a dovedú koňa, na ktorom jazdí kráľ, a na ktorého hlavu sa dáva kráľovská koruna,

⁹And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

⁹a nech dajú rúcho i koňa do ruky niektorého z najprednejších kniežat kráľových a oblečú muža, ktorého chce kráľ ctiť, a nech ho vodia nesúceho sa na koni po ulici mesta a volajú pred ním: Tak nech sa učiní mužovi, ktorého chce kráľ ctiť!

¹⁰Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.

¹⁰Vtedy riekol kráľ Hámanovi: Ponáhľaj sa, vezmi rúcho a koňa, ako si hovoril, a učiň tak Židovi Mardocheovi, ktorý sedí v bráne kráľovej. Nevynechaj ničoho zo všetkého toho, čo si hovoril.

¹¹Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

¹¹A tak vzal Háman rúcho a koňa a obliekol Mardochea a vodil ho nesúceho sa na koni po ulici mesta a volal pred ním: Tak nech sa činí mužovi, ktorého chce kráľ ctiť!

¹²And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

¹²Potom sa navrátil Mardocheus ku bráne kráľovej, a Háman sa ponáhľal do svojho domu smutný a so zakrytou hlavou.

¹³And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

¹³A Háman rozprával Zéreši, svojej žene, a všetkým svojim priateľom všetko, čo sa mu prihodilo. A jeho mudrci mu riekli i Zéreš, jeho žena: Ak je Mardocheus zo semena Židov, pred ktorým si začal padať, nezdoláš ničoho proti nemu, ale istotne padneš pred ním.

¹⁴And while they were yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.

¹⁴A kým ešte hovorili s ním, prišli komorníci kráľovi ponáhľajúc sa, aby čím skôr doviedli Hámana na hostinu, ktorú pripravila Ester.
