¹Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

¹Toto sú slová listu, ktorý poslal prorok Jeremiáš z Jeruzalema k ostatku starších prestehovaných a ku kňazom a prorokom a ku všetkému ľudu, ktorých prestehoval Nabuchodonozor z Jeruzalema do Babylona,

²(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)

²keď bol vyšiel kráľ Jekoniáš i kráľovná i komorníci, kniežatá Júdu a Jeruzalema jako aj tesári a kováči z Jeruzalema,

³By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,

³po Eleasovi, synovi Šafánovom, a po Gemariášovi, synovi Chilkiášovom, ktorých poslal Cedekiáš, judský kráľ, k Nabuchodonozorovi, babylonskému kráľovi, do Babylona, povediac:

⁴Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;

⁴Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov, všetkým prestehovaným, ktorých som prestehoval z Jeruzalema do Babylona:

⁵Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;

⁵Staväjte domy a bývajte v nich, saďte zahrady a jedzte ich ovocie.

⁶Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.

⁶Berte si ženy a ploďte synov a dcéry a berte i pre svojich synov ženy a svoje dcéry dávajte za mužov, aby rodily synov a dcéry, a množte sa tam, a nech vás neubúda!

⁷And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

⁷A hľadajte pokoj mesta, do ktorého som vás prestehoval, a modlite sa zaň Hospodinovi, lebo v jeho pokoji budete mať pokoj.

⁸For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

⁸Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov: Nech vás neklamú vaši proroci, ktorí sú medzi vami, ani vaši veštci, a nepočúvajte na svoje sny, ktoré sa vám snívajú vaším pričinením,

⁹For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.

⁹pretože vám lživo prorokujú v mojom mene; neposlal som ich, hovorí Hospodin.

¹⁰For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

¹⁰Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin: Lebo keď sa vyplní Babylonu sedemdesiat rokov, navštívim vás a splním pri vás svoje dobré slovo, totiž že vás navrátim na toto miesto.

¹¹For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

¹¹Lebo ja znám myšlienky, ktoré myslím o vás, hovorí Hospodin, myšlienky pokoja a nie zlého, aby som vám dal šťastnú budúcnosť a vaše očakávanie.

¹²Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

¹²Budete ma vzývať a pojdete a budete sa mi modliť, a vyslyším vás.

¹³And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

¹³A budete ma hľadať a najdete, keď sa po mne budete dopytovať celým svojím srdcom.

¹⁴And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

¹⁴A dám sa vám nájsť, hovorí Hospodin, a dovediem nazpät vašich zajatých a shromaždím vás zo všetkých národov a zo všetkých miest, kam som vás zahnal, hovorí Hospodin, a navrátim vás na miesto, odkiaľ som vás odstehoval.

¹⁵Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;

¹⁵Lebo hovoríte: Hospodin nám vzbudil prorokov do Babylona.-

¹⁶Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;

¹⁶Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin o kráľovi, ktorý sedí na stolici Dávidovej a o všetkom ľude, ktorý býva v tomto meste, o vašich bratoch, ktorí nevyšli s vami medzi prestehovanými,

¹⁷Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

¹⁷takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Hľa, pošlem na nich meč, hlad a mor a dám, aby boli jako tie odporné fíky, ktoré sa nejedia, pretože sú také zlé.

¹⁸And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:

¹⁸A budem ich stíhať mečom, hladom a morom a vydám ich za postrk všetkým kráľovstvám zeme, na kliatbu, na des a úžas a na potupu medzi všetkými národami, kam ich zaženiem,

¹⁹Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.

¹⁹pretože nepočúvali na moje slová, hovorí Hospodin, keď som posielal k nim svojich služobníkov prorokov vstávajúc skoro za rána a posielajúc ich znova a znova, a neposlúchali ste, hovorí Hospodin.

²⁰Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:

²⁰A vy počujte slovo Hospodinovo, všetci prestehovaní, ktorých som poslal preč z Jeruzalema do Babylona!

²¹Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;

²¹Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov, o Achabovi, synovi Kolaiášovom, a o Cedekiášovi, synovi Maaseiášovom, ktorí vám prorokujú v mojom mene lož: Hľa, vydám ich do ruky Nabuchodonozora, babylonského kráľa, a zabije ich pred vašimi očami.

²²And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

²²A vezme sa od nich kliatba pre všetkých prestehovaných Júdových, ktorí sú v Babylone, a bude sa hovoriť: Nech ti učiní Hospodin ako Cedekiášovi a jako Achabovi, ktorých upiekol babylonský kráľ na ohni,

²³Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.

²³pretože páchali bláznovstvo v Izraelovi a cudzoložili so ženami svojich blížnych a hovorili slovo v mojom mene, lož, to, čoho som im neprikázal, a ja viem o tom a som toho svedkom, hovorí Hospodin.

²⁴Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,

²⁴A Šemaiášovi Nechelamskému povieš toto:

²⁵Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

²⁵Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov: Pretože si ty poslal listy vo svojom mene na všetok ľud, ktorý je v Jeruzaleme, i na Cefaniáša, syna Maaseiášovho, kňaza, jako i na všetkých kňazov povediac:

²⁶The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.

²⁶Hospodin ťa dal za kňaza namiesto kňaza Jehojadu, aby ste dozerali v dome Hospodinovom na každého šialeného človeka a vydávajúceho sa za proroka, a dáš ho do klady a dáš mu železný nákrčník na krk.

²⁷Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?

²⁷A tak teraz prečo si nezakríkol Jeremiáša Anatótskeho, ktorý sa vám vydáva za proroka?

²⁸For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

²⁸Lebo preto poslal k nám do Babylona posolstvo povediac: Pretiahne sa to, staväjte domy a bývajte v nich, saďte zahrady a jedzte ich ovocie.

²⁹And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

²⁹A kňaz Cefaniáš čítal tento list pred prorokom Jeremiášom.

³⁰Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,

³⁰A stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo k Jeremiášovi povediac:

³¹Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:

³¹Pošli ku všetkým prestehovaným a povedz: Takto hovorí Hospodin o Šemaiášovi Nechelamskom: Pretože vám prorokuje Šemaiáš, kým som ho ja neposlal, a pôsobí to, aby ste sa nadejali na lož,

³²Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.

³²preto takto hovorí Hospodin: Hľa, navštívim hriech na Šemaiášovi Nechelamskom i na jeho semene: nebude mať nikoho, kto by býval medzi týmto ľudom, ani neuvidí dobrého, ktoré učiním svojmu ľudu, hovorí Hospodin, pretože hovoril to, čím by odvrátil ľud od Hospodina.
