¹Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

¹A Hospodin nastrojil veľkú rybu, aby pohltila Jonáša, a tak bol Jonáš vo vnútornostiach ryby tri dni a tri noci.

²And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

²A Jonáš sa modlil Hospodinovi, svojmu Bohu, z vnútorností ryby

³For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

³a riekol: Volal som zo svojho súženia Hospodinovi, a vyslyšal ma; z lona pekla som pokorne volal o pomoc, a počul si môj hlas.

⁴Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

⁴Hodil si ma do hlbiny, do srdca morí, a obkľúčil ma prúd; všetko tvoje vlnobitie a tvoje vlny valily sa cezo mňa.

⁵The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

⁵A ja som povedal: Zahnaný som zpred tvojich očí, ale zase len budem hľadieť smerom ku chrámu tvojej svätosti.

⁶I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

⁶Obňaly ma vody až po dušu, priepasť ma obkľúčila, morská tráva bola ovinutá okolo mojej hlavy.

⁷When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

⁷Sostúpil som k najspodnejším základom vrchov, zem bola svojimi závorami zavrela za mnou na veky. Ale si vytiahol môj život z jamy, Hospodine, môj Bože.

⁸They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

⁸Keď práhnuc svíjala sa vo mne moja duša, rozpomínal som sa na Hospodina, a moja modlitba prišla k tebe do chrámu tvojej svätosti.

⁹But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

⁹Tí, ktorí pozorujú na klamné márnosti, opúšťajú svoju milosť.

¹⁰And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

¹⁰Ale ja ti budem obetovať hlasom vďaky: to, čo som sľúbil, splním. Spasenie je Hospodinovo.

¹¹A Hospodin riekol rybe, a vyvrátila Jonáša na sušinu.
