¹Now it came to pass, when Adonizedec king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

¹A stalo sa, keď počul Adonicédek, kráľ Jeruzalema, že Jozua zaujal Haj a že zarieknuc ho na záhubu zahubil ho docela, a že jako učinil Jerichu a jeho kráľovi, tak učinil i mestu Haj a jeho kráľovi, a že obyvatelia Gibeona učinili pokoj s Izraelom a sú v ich strede,

²That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

²všetci sa báli veľmi, lebo Gibeon bolo veľké mesto jako jedno z miest kráľovstva, a že bolo väčšie ako Haj, a k tomu ešte i všetci jeho mužovia boli udatní.

³Wherefore Adonizedec king of Jerusalem, sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

³A Adonicédek, kráľ Jeruzalema, poslal poslov k Hohámovi, kráľovi Hebrona, k Pirámovi, kráľovi Jarmúta, k Jafiovi, kráľovi Lachiša, a k Debírovi, kráľovi Eglona, povediac:

⁴Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

⁴Poďte hore ku mne a pomôžte mi, zbijeme Gibeon, pretože učinil pokoj s Jozuom a so synmi Izraelovými.

⁵Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

⁵A shromaždili sa a išli hore piati kráľovia Amoreja, kráľ Jeruzalema, kráľ Hebrona, kráľ Jarmúta, kráľ Lachiša, kráľ Eglona, oni i všetky ich vojská, a rozložili sa táborom proti Gibeonu a bojovali proti nemu.

⁶And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

⁶A mužovia Gibeona poslali posolstvo k Jozuovi do tábora do Gilgala s odkazom: Neuťahuj svojej ruky od svojich služobníkov! Prijdi rýchle hore k nám a zachráň nás a pomôž nám, lebo sa sobrali proti nám všetci kráľovia Amoreja, ktorí bývajú na vrchoch.

⁷So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.

⁷Vtedy vyšiel Jozua z Gilgala hore, on i všetok ľud, súci do boja, s ním i všetci udatní mužovia silní.

⁸And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

⁸A Hospodin riekol Jozuovi: Neboj sa ich! Lebo som ich dal do tvojej ruky; nikto z nich neobstojí pred tebou.

⁹Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

⁹A tedy prišiel Jozua náhle proti ním; celú noc išiel hore z Gilgala.

¹⁰And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

¹⁰A Hospodin ich predesil pred Izraelom, a porazil ich veľkou porážkou v Gibeone a honil ich cestou, ktorá ide hore do Bét-chórona, a bil ich až po Azéku a po Makkédu.

¹¹And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

¹¹A stalo sa, keď utekali pred Izraelom a keď boli na svahu Bét-chórona, že Hospodin metal na nich veľké kamene s neba až po Azéku a mreli. Viacej bolo tých, ktorí zomreli od kameňov toho krupobitia, ako bolo tých, ktorých pobili synovia Izraelovi mečom.

¹²Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

¹²Vtedy hovoril Jozua Hospodinovi, v deň, v ktorý vydal Hospodin Amoreja pred synmi Izraelovými, a riekol pred očami Izraela: Slnce v Gibeone, stoj ticho, a mesiac v údolí Ajalon!

¹³And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

¹³A slnce stálo ticho, a mesiac stál, dokiaľ sa nepomstil národ na svojich nepriateľoch. Či nie je to napísané v knihe Spravedlivého? A slnce stálo prostred neba a neponáhľalo sa zapadnúť tak asi celý deň.

¹⁴And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

¹⁴A nebolo takého dňa pred tým ani potom, aby bol Hospodin takto počul na hlas človeka, lebo Hospodin bojoval za Izraela.

¹⁵And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

¹⁵Potom sa vrátil Jozua i celý Izrael s ním do tábora, do Gilgala.

¹⁶But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.

¹⁶A tí piati kráľovia utiekli a skryli sa v jaskyni v Makkéde.

¹⁷And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.

¹⁷A Jozuovi bolo oznámené, vraj našli sa piati kráľovia skrytí v jaskyni v Makkéde.

¹⁸And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:

¹⁸A Jozua riekol: Privaľte veľké kamene k otvoru jaskyne a postavte ku nej mužov, aby ich strážili.

¹⁹And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand.

¹⁹Ale vy sa nezastavujte; hoňte svojich nepriateľov a bite ich zadné voje; nedajte im, aby vošli do svojich miest, lebo Hospodin, váš Bôh, ich dal do vašej ruky.

²⁰And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.

²⁰A stalo sa, keď ich už bol Jozua pobil i synovia Izraelovi poraziac ich porážkou, veľmi velikou, takže im urobil koniec, a ubehlíci, ktorí pozostali z nich, vošli do opevnených miest,

²¹And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

²¹že sa všetok ľud vrátil do tábora k Jozuovi do Makkédy v pokoji. Nikto ani len svojím jazykom nehnul proti nikomu zo synov Izraelových.

²²Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.

²²Potom povedal Jozua: Otvorte ústie jaskyne a vyveďte tých piatich kráľov z jaskyne ku mne.

²³And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

²³A učinili a vyviedli tých piatich kráľov z jaskyne k nemu, kráľa Jeruzalema, kráľa Hebrona, kráľa Jarmúta, kráľa Lachiša a kráľa Eglona.

²⁴And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

²⁴A stalo sa, keď vyviedli tých kráľov k Jozuovi, že Jozua povolal všetkých mužov Izraelových a riekol vojvodom bojovníkov, ktorí išli s ním: Pristúpte, položte svoje nohy na krky týchto kráľov! A pristúpiac položili svoje nohy na ich krky.

²⁵And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

²⁵A Jozua im riekol: Nebojte sa ani sa nestrachujte! Buďte silní a pevní, lebo takto učiní Hospodin všetkým vašim nepriateľom, proti ktorým bojujete.

²⁶And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.

²⁶Potom ich Jozua zbil a zabil ich a obesil ich na päť stromov, a viseli na stromoch až do večera.

²⁷And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.

²⁷A stalo sa o čase, keď zapádalo slnko, že Jozua rozkázal, a sňali ich so stromov a pohádzali ich do jaskyne, v ktorej sa boli ukryli, a nakládli veľkých kameňov na otvor jaskyne, kde sú až do dnešného dňa.

²⁸And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.

²⁸I Makkédu zaujal Jozua toho istého dňa a zbil ju ostrím meča i jej kráľa zabil; úplne ich zahladil, i všetky duše, ktoré boly v nej; neponechal nikoho živého, a učinil kráľovi Makkédy, jako učinil kráľovi Jericha.

²⁹Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:

²⁹Potom Jozua prešiel i celý Izrael s ním z Makkédy do Libny a bojoval proti Libne.

³⁰And the LORD delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.

³⁰A Hospodin dal i ju do ruky Izraela i jej kráľa, a pobil ju ostrím meča i všetky duše, ktoré boly v nej; neponechal v nej nikoho živého a učinil jej kráľovi tak, ako učinil kráľovi Jericha.

³¹And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:

³¹A Jozua prešiel i celý Izrael s ním z Libny do Lachiša a rozložil sa pri ňom táborom a bojoval proti nemu.

³²And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.

³²A Hospodin vydal Lachiš do ruky Izraela, a zaujal ho druhého dňa a pobil ho ostrím meča i všetky duše, ktoré boly v ňom, všetko tak, ako učinil Libne.

³³Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.

³³Vtedy vyšiel hore Horam, kráľ Gézera, pomôcť Lachišu. Ale Jozua ho porazil i jeho ľud tak, že mu neponechal nikoho živého.

³⁴And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:

³⁴A Jozua prešiel i všetok Izrael s ním z Lachiša do Eglona, a rozložili sa pri ňom táborom a bojovali proti nemu.

³⁵And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

³⁵A zaujali ho toho dňa a pobili ho ostrím meča, i všetky duše, ktoré boly v ňom, zahladil celkom toho dňa, zarieknuté na záhubu, všetko tak, ako učinil Lachišu.

³⁶And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:

³⁶Potom odišiel Jozua i celý Izrael s ním z Eglona hore do Hebrona, a bojovali proti nemu.

³⁷And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.

³⁷A zaujali ho a pobili ho ostrím meča i jeho kráľa i všetky jeho mestá i všetky duše, ktoré boly v ňom; neponechal nikoho živého, všetko tak, ako učinil Eglonu, a zahladil ho, zarieknuc ho na záhubu, i všetky duše, ktoré boly v ňom.

³⁸And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:

³⁸Potom sa vrátil Jozua i celý Izrael s ním do Debíra, a bojovali proti nemu.

³⁹And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.

³⁹A zaujal ho i jeho kráľa i všetky jeho mestá, a pobili ich ostrím meča a zahladili, zarieknuté na záhubu, všetky duše, ktoré boly v ňom; neponechal nikoho živého. Jako učinil Hebronu, tak učinil aj Debíru i jeho kráľovi, a jako učinil Libne i jej kráľovi.

⁴⁰So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.

⁴⁰A Jozua zbil celú tú zem, vrch i juh, nížinu aj úbočia i všetkých ich kráľov. Neponechal nikoho živého a zahladil i všetky duše, zarieknuté na záhubu, tak ako prikázal Hospodin, Bôh Izraelov.

⁴¹And Joshua smote them from Kadeshbarnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.

⁴¹A tak ich pobil Jozua, všetkých od Kádeš-barnee až po Gazu i celú zem Góšen a až po Gibeon.

⁴²And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.

⁴²A všetkých tých kráľov aj ich zem zaujal Jozua na jeden raz, lebo Hospodin, Bôh Izraelov, bojoval za Izraela.

⁴³And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

⁴³A tak sa navrátil Jozua i celý Izrael s ním do tábora do Gilgala.
