¹Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

¹A stalo sa po smrti Jozuovej, že sa pýtali synovia Izraelovi Hospodina a riekli: Kto pojde napočiatku za nás hore ku Kananejovi, aby bojoval proti nemu?

²And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

²A Hospodin riekol: Júda pojde hore. Hľa, vydal som zem do jeho ruky.

³And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

³A Júda riekol Simeonovi, svojmu bratovi: Poď so mnou ta hore do môjho losu, aby sme bojovali proti Kananejovi, a potom pojdem i ja s tebou do tvojho losu. A Simeon išiel s ním.

⁴And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

⁴A tak odišiel Júda hore, a Hospodin vydal Kananeja a Ferezeja do ich ruky, a porazili ich v Bezeku, desať tisíc mužov.

⁵And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

⁵A našli Adoni-bezeka v Bezeku a bojovali proti nemu a porazili Kananeja i Ferezeja.

⁶But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

⁶A keď utekal Adoni-bezek, honili ho a dochytiac ho poutínali mu palce na jeho rukách i na jeho nohách.

⁷And Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

⁷Vtedy povedal Adoni-bezek: Sedemdesiati kráľovia s uťatými palci na svojich rukách i na svojich nohách sbierali odrobiny pod mojím stolom. Ako som robil, tak mi odplatil Bôh. Potom ho doviedli do Jeruzalema, a tam zomrel.

⁸Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

⁸A synovia Júdovi bojovali proti Jeruzalemu a zaujali ho a zbili ho ostrím meča a mesto podpálili.

⁹And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.

⁹Potom sišli synovia Júdovi bojovať proti Kananejovi, ktorý býval na vrchoch a na juhu i na nížine.

¹⁰And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

¹⁰A Júda odišiel ku Kananejovi, ktorý býval v Hebrone. A meno Hebrona bolo predtým Kirjat-arbe, a zabili Šešaja, Achimána a Talmaja.

¹¹And from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:

¹¹Odtiaľ odišiel k obyvateľom Debíra. A meno Debíra bolo predtým Kirjat-sefer.

¹²And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

¹²A Kálef povedal: Tomu, kto zbije Kirjat-sefer, a zaujme ho, dám Achsu, svoju dcéru, za ženu.

¹³And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

¹³A zaujal ho Otniel, syn Kenaza, brata Kálefa, mladšieho od neho a dal mu Achsu, svoju dcéru, za ženu.

¹⁴And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?

¹⁴A stalo sa, keď prišla k nemu, že ho naviedla, aby žiadal od jej otca pole. Preto sosadla rýchle s osla, a Kálef jej povedal: Čo chceš?

¹⁵And she said unto him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.

¹⁵A riekla mu: Daj mi požehnanie, lebo si mi dal zem na juhu; nuž daj mi aj pramene vôd. A tak jej dal Kálef horné pramene i dolné pramene.

¹⁶And the children of the Kenite, Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.

¹⁶A synovia Kéniho, švagra Mojžišovho, odišli hore z mesta paliem so synmi Júdovými na Judskú púšť, ktorá je na juhu Aráda, a odíduc bývali s tým ľudom.

¹⁷And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

¹⁷A Júda odišiel so Simeonom, svojím bratom, a pobili Kananeja, ktorý býval v Cefate, a zarieknuc ho na záhubu docela ho zahladili, mesto Cefat, a nazval meno toho mesta Chorma.

¹⁸Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.

¹⁸A Júda zaujal Gazu a jej územie i Aškalon a jeho územie aj Ekron a jeho územie.

¹⁹And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

¹⁹A Hospodin bol s Júdom, a tak vyhnal obyvateľov pohoria, lebo nemal smelosti vyhnať obyvateľov údolia, pretože mali železné vozy.

²⁰And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.

²⁰A dali Kálefovi Hebron, tak ako hovoril Mojžiš, a vyhnal odtiaľ troch synov Enákových.

²¹And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

²¹Ale Jebuzeja, ktorý býval v Jeruzaleme, nevyhnali synovia Benjaminovi, a tak býval Jebuzej so synmi Benjaminovými v Jeruzaleme až do tohoto dňa.

²²And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD was with them.

²²A odišli aj dom Jozefov hore do Bét-ela, a Hospodin s nimi.

²³And the house of Joseph sent to descry Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)

²³Lebo dom Jozefov dali prešpehovať Bét-el. A meno toho mesta bolo predtým Lúz.

²⁴And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee mercy.

²⁴A keď videli strážcovia muža, ktorý vychádzal z mesta, riekli mu: Ukáž nám, prosíme, kade sa vojde do mesta, a učiníme ti milosť.

²⁵And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.

²⁵A ukázal im, kade sa vojde do mesta, a tak zbili mesto ostrím meča, a človeka i celú jeho čeľaď prepustili.

²⁶And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name thereof Luz: which is the name thereof unto this day.

²⁶A človek odišiel do zeme Hetejov, kde vystavil mesto a nazval jeho meno Lúz. To je jeho meno až do tohoto dňa.

²⁷Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

²⁷A Manasses nevyhnal obyvateľov Bét-šeána a jeho mestečiek ani Tánacha a jeho mestečiek ani obyvateľov mesta Dóra a jeho mestečiek ani obyvateľov Jiblama a jeho mestečiek ani obyvateľov Megidda a jeho mestečiek, a preto volil Kananej bývať v tej zemi.

²⁸And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

²⁹Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

³¹Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:

³¹Aser nevyhnal obyvateľov mesta Akko ani obyvateľov Sidona ani Achlába ani Achzíba ani Chelby ani Afíka ani Rechoba.

³²But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

³²A tak býva Aser v strede Kananeja, obyvateľov to zeme, pretože ho nevyhnal.

³³Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them.

³³Naftali nevyhnal obyvateľov Bét-šemeša ani obyvateľov Bét-anata, a tak býva v strede Kananeja, v strede obyvateľov tej zeme, avšak obyvatelia Bét-šemeša a Bét-anata stali sa im poplatnými.

³⁴And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

³⁵But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.

³⁵A Amoreji volili bývať na vrchu Cherese, v Ajalone a v Šaalbíme. Ale keď nadobudla váhy ruka domu Jozefovho, stali sa poplatnými.

³⁶And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
