¹And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

¹Vtedy svolajúc sa krikom shromaždili sa mužovia Efraimovi a prejdúc na sever povedali Jeftovi: Prečo si prešiel bojovať proti synom Ammonovým a nás si nepovolal, aby sme išli s tebou? Spálime tvoj dom i s tebou ohňom.

²And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.

²A Jefta im riekol: Ja som mal veľký spor i môj ľud so synmi Ammonovými a volal som vás, ale ste mi nepomohli vyslobodiť sa z ich ruky.

³And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

³Preto keď som videl, že mi nepomôžete, položil som svoju dušu do svojej ruky a prešiel som k synom Ammonovým, a Hospodin ich dal do mojej ruky. A tak prečo ste prišli dnes hore ku mne, aby ste bojovali proti mne?

⁴Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

⁴Vtedy sobral Jefta všetkých mužov Gileáda a bojoval s Efraimom, a mužovia Gileáda porazili Efraima, lebo vraveli: Ubehlíci Efraimovi ste vy, Gileáďania, medzi Efraimom a medzi Manassesom.

⁵And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

⁵A Gileáďania zaujali Efraimovi brody Jordána. A stalo sa, keď povedali ubehlíci Efraimovi: Nech prejdem! riekli mu mužovia Gileáda: Či si ty Efraťan? A keď povedal: Nie som,

⁶Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

⁶riekli mu: Nože povedz: Šibbolet! A on povedal: Sibbolet, lebo nevládal tak vysloviť. Vtedy ho pochytili a zabili ho pri brodoch Jordána. A tak padlo toho času z Efraima štyridsaťdva tisíc mužov.

⁷And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

⁷A Jefta súdil Izraela šesť rokov. A tak zomrel Jefta Gileádsky a je pochovaný v ktoromsi meste Gileáda.

⁸And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.

⁸Po ňom súdil Izraela Ibcán z Betlehema.

⁹And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

⁹A mal tridsať synov a tridsať dcér, ktoré povydával von z domu, a tridsať dcér doviedol odinakiaľ svojim synom a súdil Izraela sedem rokov.

¹⁰Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Bethlehem.

¹⁰A keď zomrel Ibcán, pochovali ho v Betleheme.

¹¹And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

¹¹A po ňom súdil Izraela Élon Zabulonský a súdil Izraela desať rokov.

¹²And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.

¹²A keď zomrel Élon Zabulonský, pochovali ho v Ajjalone, v zemi Zabulonovej.

¹³And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.

¹³A po ňom súdil Izraela Abdón, syn Hillelov, Piratonský.

¹⁴And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

¹⁴A mal štyridsiatich synov a tridsať vnukov, ktorí jazdili na sedemdesiatich mladých osloch. A súdil Izraela osem rokov.

¹⁵And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.

¹⁵A keď zomrel Abdón, syn Hillelov, Piratonský, pochovali ho v Piratone, v zemi Efraimovej, na Amalechitskom vrchu.
