¹And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

¹A Balám povedal Balákovi: Postav mi tu sedem oltárov a prihotov mi tu sedem juncov a sedem baranov.

²And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.

²A Balák urobil tak, ako hovoril Balám. Potom obetoval Balák a Balám junca a barana na každom oltári.

³And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he showeth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.

³Potom povedal Balám Balákovi: Stoj tu pri svojej zápalnej obeti, a ja pojdem, snáď mi prijde Hospodin vústrety, a to, čo mi ukáže, oznámim ti. A odišiel na vysoké miesto holé.

⁴And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.

⁴A Bôh sa stretol s Balámom, a riekol mu: Pripravil som tých sedem oltárov a obetoval som junca a barana na každom oltári.

⁵And the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

⁵Tu vložil Hospodin slovo do úst Balámových a riekol: Navráť sa k Balákovi a takto budeš hovoriť.

⁶And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.

⁶A navrátil sa k nemu, a hľa, stál pri svojej zápalnej obeti, on i všetky kniežatá Moábove.

⁷And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

⁷Začal slávnostne svoju prorockú reč a riekol: Hen od Arama doviedol ma Balák, kráľ Moába, od vrchov Východu. Poď vraj, prekľaj mi Jakoba a nože poď, zabúr hnevom na Izraela!

⁸How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?

⁸Čože by som zlorečil tomu, komu nezlorečí silný Bôh?! A čo by som vylieval hnev na toho, na koho sa nehnevá Hospodin!?

⁹For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

⁹Lebo ho vidím s vrchu skál a s vŕškov ho pozorujem. Hľa, je to ľud, ktorý bude bývať osobitne a nebude počítaný medzi iné národy.

¹⁰Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!

¹⁰Kto spočíta prach Jakobov? A kto počet štvrtého dielu Izraelovho?! Nech zomrie moja duša smrťou spravedlivých, a môj koniec nech je ako jeho!

¹¹And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.

¹¹Na to povedal Balák Balámovi: Čo si mi to urobil?! Pojal som ťa, aby si zlorečil mojim nepriateľom, a hľa, ty len žehnáš a žehnáš!

¹²And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?

¹²Odpovedal a riekol: Či azda nemám zachovať to, čo Hospodin vloží do mojich úst, aby som to hovoril?

¹³And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.

¹³A Balák mu povedal: Poď, prosím, so mnou na iné miesto, odkiaľ ho tiež uvidíš. Avšak uvidíš iba jeho koniec a neuvidíš ho celého a preklň mi ho odtiaľ!

¹⁴And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

¹⁴A tak ho pojal na pole Cofim, na temeno vrchu Pizga a postaviac sedem oltárov obetoval junca a barana zápalnou obeťou na každom oltári.

¹⁵And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the LORD yonder.

¹⁵Potom povedal Balákovi: Stoj tu pri svojej zápalnej obeti, kým ja pojdem tamto v ústrety Hospodinovi.

¹⁶And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.

¹⁶A Hospodin sa stretol s Balámom a vložil slovo do jeho úst a riekol: Navráť sa k Balákovi a takto budeš hovoriť.

¹⁷And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?

¹⁷Keď potom prišiel k nemu, hľa, stál pri svojej zápalnej obeti a kniežatá Moábove s ním. A Balák mu povedal: Čo hovoril Hospodin?

¹⁸And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:

¹⁸Tu začal slávnostne svoju prorockú reč a riekol: Povstaň, Baláku, a počuj! Pozoruj na mňa ušima, synu Cipporov!

¹⁹God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

¹⁹Silný Bôh nie je človek, aby klamal, ani syn človeka, aby ľutoval. Či azda on povie a nevykoná? A keď hovoril, či neučiní tak, aby to stálo?

²⁰Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

²⁰Hľa, prijal som rozkaz dobrorečiť, a keď on dobrorečil, ja toho neodvrátim.

²¹He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

²¹Nebude hľadieť na neprávosť v Jakobovi ani neuvidí trápenia v Izraelovi, Hospodin, jeho Bôh, je s ním a radostné pokrikovanie kráľa v ňom.

²²God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.

²²Silný Bôh ich vyviedol z Egypta; vládu má, jako je vláda jednorožca.

²³Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!

²³Lebo nie je kúzla proti Jakobovi ani čarov proti Izraelovi. V svojom čase bude sa hovoriť o Jakobovi a o Izraelovi: Čo všetko učinil silný Bôh!

²⁴Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.

²⁴Hľa, ľud, povstane jako ľvica a vzchopí sa jako mladý lev: neľahne, dokiaľ nebude žrať koristi a nenapije sa krvi pobitých.

²⁵And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.

²⁵A Balák povedal Balámovi: Už mu viacej ani nezloreč ani mu viacej nedobroreč!

²⁶But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?

²⁶Na to odpovedal Balám a riekol Balákovi: Či som ti nehovoril, že všetko, čo bude hovoriť Hospodin, to učiním?

²⁷And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.

²⁷A Balák povedal Balámovi: Nože poď prosím, zavediem ťa na iné miesto; snáď sa bude ľúbiť Bohu, aby si mi mu odtiaľ zlorečil.

²⁸And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Jeshimon.

²⁸A tak pojal Balák Baláma na temeno vrchu Peor, ktorý hľadí na šírinu púšte.

²⁹And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

²⁹A Balám povedal Balákovi: Postav mi tu sedem oltárov a priprav mi tu sedem juncov a sedem baranov.

³⁰And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

³⁰A Balák urobil tak, ako povedal Balám, a zase obetoval junca a barana na každom oltári.
