¹In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

¹Ôsmeho mesiaca, druhého roku Dária stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo k Zachariášovi, synovi Berechiáša, syna Iddovho, prorokovi, povediac:

²The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

²Hospodin sa bol veľmi rozhneval na vašich otcov.

³Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.

³Ale povieš im: Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Navráťte sa ku mne, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, a navrátim sa k vám, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.

⁴Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.

⁴Nebuďte jako vaši otcovia, na ktorých volávali drievni proroci a vraveli: Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Nože sa navráťte od svojich zlých ciest a od svojich zlých skutkov, ale neposlúchli ani nepozorovali ušami na mňa, hovorí Hospodin.

⁵Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

⁵Vaši otcovia, kde sú? A proroci, či azda budú žiť na veky?

⁶But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

⁶Ale moje slová a moje ustanovenia, ktoré som prikázal svojim služobníkom prorokom, či nestihly vašich otcov? Takže sa obrátili a riekli: Jako nám zamýšľal učiniť Hospodin Zástupov, podľa našich ciest a podľa našich skutkov, tak učinil s nami.

⁷Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

⁷Dvadsiateho a štvrtého dňa, jedenásteho mesiaca (to je mesiac Šebát), druhého roku Dária stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo k Zachariášovi, synovi Berechiáša, syna Iddovho, prorokovi, takto:

⁸I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.

⁸Videl som vnoci a hľa, nejaký muž sedel na červenom koni a stál medzi myrtami, ktoré sú v doline, a za ním červené kone, strakaté a biele.

⁹Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.

⁹A povedal som: Čo a kto sú títo, pane? A anjel, ktorý hovoril so mnou, mi riekol: Ja ti ukážem, čo a kto sú títo.

¹⁰And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.

¹⁰A muž, ktorý stál medzi myrtami, odpovedal a riekol: Toto sú tí, ktorých poslal Hospodin pochodiť zem.

¹¹And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

¹¹A odpovedali anjelovi Hospodinovmu, ktorý stál medzi myrtami, a riekli: Pochodili sme zem, a hľa, celá zem býva a je na pokoji.

¹²Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

¹²Na to odpovedal anjel Hospodinov a riekol: Hospodine Zástupov, až dokedy sa ty nezľutuješ na Jeruzalemom a nad mestami Júdovými, na ktoré si sa hneval toto už sedemdesiat rokov?

¹³And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.

¹³A Hospodin odpovedal anjelovi, ktorý hovoril so mnou, dobré slová, potešiteľné slová.

¹⁴So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

¹⁴Vtedy mi odpovedal anjel, ktorý hovoril so mnou: Volaj a povedz: Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Žiarlim za Jeruzalem a za Sion veľkou žiarlivosťou

¹⁵And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

¹⁵a hnevám sa veľmi na tie národy, ktoré majú taký pokoj, pretože ja som sa hneval len trochu málo, a oni pomáhali k zlému.

¹⁶Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

¹⁶Preto takto hovorí Hospodin: Navrátim sa do Jeruzalema v zľutovaní; môj dom bude vystavený v ňom, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, a merná šnúra bude roztiahnutá na Jeruzalem.

¹⁷Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

¹⁷Volaj ešte a povedz: Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Ešte sa rozpŕchnu moje mestá pre hojnosť dobrého, a ešte poteší Hospodin Sion a ešte si vyvolí Jeruzalem.

¹⁸Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.

¹⁸Vtedy pozdvihnúc svoje oči videl som a hľa, štyri rohy.

¹⁹And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.

¹⁹A povedal som anjelovi, ktorý hovoril so mnou: Čo sú to jaké rohy? A riekol mi: To sú rohy, ktoré rozohnaly Júdu, Izraela a Jeruzalem.

²⁰And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.

²⁰Potom mi ukázal Hospodin štyroch kováčov.

²¹Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

²¹A povedal som: Čo idú títo robiť? A riekol: Toto sú rohy, ktoré rozohnaly Júdu, takže nikto nepozdvihol svojej hlavy, a títo prišli, aby ich prestrašili, aby srazili rohy národov, ktoré pozdvihly roh proti zemi Júdovej, aby ju rozohnaly.
