¹But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites:

¹A kralj Salomon je ljubil mnogo inostranskih žen poleg hčere Faraonove: Moabke, Amonke, Edomke, Sidonke in Hetejke;

²Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

²iz narodov, o katerih je GOSPOD rekel sinovom Izraelovim: Ne hodite mednje, tudi oni naj ne hodijo med vas, kajti gotovo vam naklonijo srce, da pojdete za njih bogovi. Na te se je navezal Salomon v ljubezni.

³And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

³In imel je sedemsto žen kneginj in tristo priležnic; in žene so odvrnile srce njegovo.

⁴For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

⁴In ko je bil Salomon star, so mu njegove žene naklonile srce, da je šel za drugimi bogovi; in ni bilo srce njegovo popolnoma vdano GOSPODU, Bogu njegovemu, kakor je bilo srce njegovega očeta Davida.

⁵For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

⁵In Salomon je hodil za Astoreto, boginjo Sidoncev, in za Milkomom, gnusobo Amoncev.

⁶And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

⁶In Salomon je počenjal, kar je bilo hudo v očeh GOSPODOVIH, ter ni hodil popolnoma za GOSPODOM kakor njegov oče David.

⁷Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

⁷Takrat je sezidal Salomon višavo Kamosu, gnusobi Moabcev, na gori, ki je pred Jeruzalemom, in Molohu, gnusobi sinov Amonovih.

⁸And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

⁸In tako je storil za vse svoje žene tujke, ki so žgale kadilo in darovale svojim bogovom.

⁹And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

⁹In GOSPOD se je razsrdil nad Salomonom, ker je odvrnil srce svoje od GOSPODA, Boga Izraelovega, ki se mu je bil prikazal dvakrat

¹⁰And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

¹⁰in mu je prav o tem zapovedal, naj ne hodi za drugimi bogovi; a on ni izpolnil, kar mu je bil GOSPOD zapovedal.

¹¹Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

¹¹Zato je dejal GOSPOD Salomonu: Ker je bilo to pri tebi ter nisi ohranil zaveze moje in postav mojih, ki sem ti jih zapovedal, gotovo ti odtrgam kraljestvo in ga dam hlapcu tvojemu.

¹²Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

¹²Ali v tvojih dneh ne storim tega zaradi Davida, očeta tvojega; sinu tvojemu ga odtrgam iz roke.

¹³Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

¹³Vendar pa nočem vsega kraljestva odtrgati, ali en rod dam tvojemu sinu, zaradi Davida, služabnika svojega, in zaradi Jeruzalema, ki sem ga izvolil.

¹⁴And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

¹⁴Obudil pa je GOSPOD nasprotnika Salomonu, Hadada Edomca; on je bil iz kraljevega rodu v Edomu:

¹⁵For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

¹⁵Takrat namreč, ko je bil David v Edomu in je Joab, poveljnik vojske, šel gori pokopat pobite, in ko je bil pomoril vse moštvo v Edomu

¹⁶(For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

¹⁶(kajti Joab in ves Izrael je ostal šest mesecev ondi, dokler ni pokončal vsakega moškega v Edomu),

¹⁷That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.

¹⁷je zbežal Hadad, on in nekateri Edomci iz hlapcev očeta njegovega ž njim, da pojdejo v Egipt. Hadad pa je bil še majhen deček.

¹⁸And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

¹⁸In vstali so iz Madianske in prišli v Paran, in vzeli so s seboj može iz Parana in so prišli v Egipt k Faraonu, kralju egiptovskemu. Ta je dal Hadadu hišo in mu določil živež ter mu odkazal zemljo.

¹⁹And Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

¹⁹In Hadad je našel veliko milost v očeh Faraonovih, tako da mu je dal za ženo sestro žene svoje, kraljice Tahpenese sestro.

²⁰And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.

²⁰In sestra Tahpenesina mu je rodila sina Genubata, in Tahpenes ga je vzgajala v hiši Faraonovi; Genubat je torej bil v Faraonovi hiši med sinovi Faraonovimi.

²¹And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.

²¹In ko je slišal Hadad v Egiptu, da je David zaspal z očeti svojimi ter da je Joab, poveljnik vojske, mrtev, reče Faraonu: Odpusti me, da grem v svojo deželo.

²²Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

²²Tedaj ga vpraša Faraon: Česa ti manjka pri meni, da hočeš iti v deželo svojo? Odgovori: Ničesar, pa me vsekakor pusti!

²³And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

²³In Bog mu je obudil drugega nasprotnika, Rezona, sina Eljadovega, ki je bil pobegnil gospodarju svojemu Hadadezerju, kralju v Zobi.

²⁴And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

²⁴In zbral je k sebi mož in je postal načelnik trume, ko je David udaril Zobljane; in šli so v Damask in v njem prebivali in je zakraljeval v Damasku.

²⁵And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

²⁵In bil je nasprotnik Izraelu vse dni Salomonove; in to je bilo nad zlo, ki mu ga je napravljal Hadad; in gnusilo se mu je do Izraela, in zakraljeval je v Siriji.

²⁶And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.

²⁶Tudi Jeroboam, sin Nebatov, Efraimec iz Zerede, hlapec Salomonov, (čigar mati se je imenovala Zerua, in bila je vdova), je vzdignil roko zoper kralja.

²⁷And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

²⁷In to je vzrok, zakaj je vzdignil roko zoper kralja: Salomon je zidal Milo in je zadelal razpoklino mesta Davida, očeta svojega.

²⁸And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

²⁸Tisti mož pa, Jeroboam, je bil vrl junak, in ko je Salomon videl mladeniča, da je marljiv, ga je postavil nad vso tlako Jožefove hiše.

²⁹And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

²⁹Zgodi se pa v tistem času, ko je Jeroboam šel iz Jeruzalema, da ga zaloti na potu prorok Ahija Silonski; ogrnil se je pa bil z novim oblačilom, in bila sta sama na polju.

³⁰And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

³⁰In prime Ahija novo oblačilo, ki ga je imel na sebi, ter ga raztrga na dvanajst kosov

³¹And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

³¹in veli Jeroboamu: Vzemi si deset kosov! kajti tako pravi GOSPOD, Bog Izraelov: Glej, hočem odtrgati kraljestvo iz roke Salomonove in tebi dati deset rodov:

³²(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

³²(en rod pa naj mu ostane zaradi hlapca mojega Davida in zaradi Jeruzalema, mesta, ki sem ga izvolil izmed vseh rodov Izraelovih)

³³Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

³³zato, ker so me zapustili ter se priklanjali Astoreti, boginji Sidoncev, Kamosu, bogu Moabcev, in Milkomu, bogu sinov Amonovih, in niso hodili po mojih potih, da se ravnajo po tem, kar je prav v mojih očeh, in po mojih postavah in sodbah kakor David, oče njegov.

³⁴Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:

³⁴Nočem mu pa vzeti vsega kraljestva iz roke, ampak postavim ga za kneza vse dni življenja njegovega zaradi Davida, hlapca svojega, ki sem ga izvolil, ki se je ravnal po zapovedih in postavah mojih.

³⁵But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

³⁵Vzamem pa kraljestvo iz roke sinu njegovega ter ga dam tebi, namreč desetero rodov.

³⁶And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

³⁶A sinu njegovemu dam en rod, da bo imel David, hlapec moj, svetilo vselej pred obličjem mojim v Jeruzalemu, v mestu, ki sem si ga izvolil, da ondi postavim ime svoje.

³⁷And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.

³⁷Tebe torej vzamem, in gospodoval boš vsemu, kakor želi duša tvoja, in bodeš kralj nad Izraelom.

³⁸And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

³⁸In ako boš poslušal vse, kar ti zapovedujem, in hodil po mojih potih in delal, kar je prav v mojih očeh, izpolnjujoč moje postave in zapovedi, kakor je delal hlapec moj David: hočem biti s teboj in ti postaviti hišo stanovitno, kakor sem jo postavil Davidu, in ti dati Izraela.

³⁹And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.

³⁹In zaradi tega bom poniževal seme Davidovo, a ne vse dni.

⁴⁰Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

⁴⁰Salomon pa je gledal, kako bi usmrtil Jeroboama, ali Jeroboam vstane in zbeži v Egipt k Sisaku, kralju egiptovskemu, in bil je v Egiptu do smrti Salomonove.

⁴¹And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

⁴¹O drugih pa rečeh Salomonovih in o vsem, kar je storil, in o modrosti njegovi, ni li zapisano v knjigi dejanj Salomonovih?

⁴²And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

⁴²Časa pa, ki je v njem Salomon kraljeval v Jeruzalemu vsemu Izraelu, je bilo štirideset let.In legel je Salomon k očetom svojim in bil je pokopan v mestu Davida, očeta svojega; in Roboam, sin njegov, je zakraljeval na mestu njegovem.

⁴³And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
