¹And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

¹In Salomon, Davidov sin, se je okrepil v svojem kraljestvu, in GOSPOD, Bog njegov, je bil ž njim ter ga je jako poveličal.

²Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.

²In Salomon je govoril vsemu Izraelu, poveljnikom čez tisoč in čez sto, sodnikom in vsem knezom po vsem Izraelu, poglavarjem očetovin;

³So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.

⁴But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

⁴Toda skrinjo GOSPODOVO je bil David prenesel iz Kirjat-jearima gori na mesto, ki ga ji je pripravil David; postavil ji je namreč šator v Jeruzalemu.

⁵Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.

⁵A bronasti oltar, ki ga je napravil Bezalel, sin Urija, sina Hurovega, je bil ondi pred šatorom GOSPODOVIM, in Salomon in zbor ga je obiskoval.

⁶And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

⁶In Salomon je daroval ondi pred GOSPODOM na bronastem oltarju, ki je bil pri shodnem šatoru; in daroval je na njem tisoč žgalnih daritev.

⁷In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

⁷Tisto noč se prikaže Bog Salomonu in mu reče: Prosi, kaj naj ti dam.

⁸And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

⁸In Salomon reče Bogu: Ti si izkazal veliko milost Davidu, očetu mojemu, in si me storil za kralja na mestu njegovem.

⁹Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

⁹In sedaj, o GOSPOD Bog, daj, da se uresniči obljuba tvoja Davidu, očetu mojemu; kajti postavil si me za kralja ljudstvu tolikemu, kolikor je prahu na zemlji.

¹⁰Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

¹⁰Daj mi torej modrosti in znanja, da morem hoditi ven in noter pred tem ljudstvom; zakaj kdo more soditi temu velikemu ljudstvu tvojemu?

¹¹And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

¹¹In Bog reče Salomonu: Ker je to bilo v srcu tvojem in nisi prosil zakladov, bogastva in časti, ne smrti sovražnikov svojih, tudi nisi prosil dolgega življenja, temuč si prosil zase modrosti in spoznanja, da bi mogel soditi ljudstvu mojemu, nad katero sem te postavil za kralja:

¹²Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

¹²modrost in spoznanje je dano tebi, in še ti dam zakladov, bogastva in časti, kolikor niso imeli kralji pred teboj, pa tudi za teboj ne bodo imeli.

¹³Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

¹³In prišel je Salomon z višave, ki je bila v Gibeonu, izpred shodnega šatora, v Jeruzalem; in kraljeval je Izraelu.

¹⁴And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

¹⁴In Salomon je nabral voz in konjikov, in imel je tisoč in štiristo voz in dvanajst tisoč konjikov, ki jih je razstavil po voznih mestih in pri kralju v Jeruzalemu.

¹⁵And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

¹⁵In kralj je storil, da je bilo v Jeruzalemu srebra in zlata kakor kamenja, in ceder je pripravil toliko, da jih je bilo obilo kakor smokovega drevja, ki raste v ravnini.

¹⁶And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

¹⁶In konje so vodili Salomonu iz Egipta; družba kraljevih kupcev jih je privedla trumo za kupno ceno.In so hodili gori iz Egipta in pripeljavali odondod vozove po šeststo seklov srebra in konje po sto in petdeset. Tako so jih dobivali vsi kralji Hetejcev in sirski kralji po njih roki.

¹⁷And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

¹⁷In so hodili gori iz Egipta in pripeljavali odondod vozove po šeststo seklov srebra in konje po sto in petdeset. Tako so jih dobivali vsi kralji Hetejcev in sirski kralji po njih roki.
