¹And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

²And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

²in izprosi od njega pisem v Damask do shodnic, če najde kake pristaše tega pota, bodisi može ali žene, da jih zvezane pripelje v Jeruzalem.

³And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

³Na poti pa, ko se je že bližal Damasku, se zgodi, da ga nagloma obsije svetloba z neba.

⁴And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

⁴In pade na zemljo in zasliši glas, da mu pravi: Savel, Savel, kaj me preganjaš?

⁵And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

⁵On pa reče: Kdo si, Gospod? A Gospod reče: Jaz sem Jezus, ki ga ti preganjaš.

⁶And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

⁶Ali vstani in pojdi v mesto, in tam se ti pove, kaj ti je treba storiti.

⁷And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

⁷Možje pa, ki so ž njim šli, se ustavijo in strmé, ko glas sicer slišijo, pa nikogar ne vidijo.

⁸And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

⁸In Savel vstane s tal; ko pa odpre oči, ne vidi ničesar. Tedaj ga primejo za roko in pripeljejo v Damask.

⁹And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

⁹In tri dni ni videl, in ni jedel, ne pil.

¹⁰And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

¹⁰Bil je pa neki učenec v Damasku, po imenu Ananija; in Gospod mu veli v prikazni: Ananija! On pa reče: Tu sem, Gospod.

¹¹And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

¹¹A Gospod njemu: Vstani in pojdi v ulico, ki se imenuje Ravna, in vprašaj v hiši Judovi po nekem Taršanu, ki se imenuje Savel. Kajti glej, moli,

¹²And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

¹²in je videl v prikazni moža, po imenu Ananija, da vstopi in položi nanj roke, da bi izpregledal.

¹³Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

¹³Ananija pa odgovori: Gospod, slišal sem od mnogih o tem možu, koliko hudega je storil svetim tvojim v Jeruzalemu.

¹⁴And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

¹⁴In tu ima oblast od velikih duhovnikov zvezati vse, ki kličejo ime tvoje.

¹⁵But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

¹⁵Gospod pa mu veli: Pojdi; zakaj posoda izvoljena mi je on, da ponese ime moje pred pogane in kralje in sinove Izraelove.

¹⁶For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

¹⁶Jaz namreč mu pokažem, koliko mora trpeti za moje ime.

¹⁷And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

¹⁷In Ananija odide in pride v hišo, ter položivši nanj roke, reče: Savel, brat! Gospod me je poslal, Jezus, ki se ti je prikazal na poti, po kateri si šel, da izpregledaš in se napolniš svetega Duha.

¹⁸And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

¹⁸In precej padejo z oči njegovih kakor luskine, in takoj izpregleda. In vstane ter se da krstiti.

¹⁹And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

¹⁹In vzame jedi in se pokrepča. In bil je nekaj dni z učenci, ki so bili v Damasku.

²⁰And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

²⁰In precej je po shodnicah oznanjeval Jezusa, da je on Sin Božji.

²¹But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

²¹In zavzemali so se vsi, ki so ga slišali, in so govorili: Ni li ta tisti, ki je zatiral v Jeruzalemu te, ki so klicali to ime? in sem je bil prišel zato, da jih zvezane popelje k višjim duhovnikom!

²²But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

²²Savel pa je čimdalje prihajal močnejši in begal Jude, ki so bili v Damasku, trdno dokazujoč, da je ta Kristus.

²³And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:

²³Ko je pa minilo dosti dni, se posvetujejo Judje, kako ga bodo umorili;

²⁴But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

²⁴ali Savel zve za njih zalezovanje. Stražijo pa tudi pri vratih noč in dan, da bi ga umorili;

²⁵Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

²⁵toda učenci njegovi ga vzemo po noči in ga spuste čez zid po vrvi v košu.

²⁶And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

²⁶Ko pa pride v Jeruzalem, se je poskušal pridružiti učencem; ali vsi so se ga bali, ker niso verjeli, da je učenec.

²⁷But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

²⁷Barnaba pa ga vzame in pripelje k apostolom in jim razloži, kako je bil na poti videl Gospoda in da je v Damasku srčno govoril v imenu Jezusovem.

²⁸And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

²⁸In bival je ž njimi, hodeč v Jeruzalemu ven in noter in srčno govoreč v imenu Gospodovem.

²⁹And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

²⁹Govoril je pa tudi in se prepiral z grškimi Judi; a oni so ga nameravali umoriti.

³⁰Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

³⁰Ko pa zvedo to bratje, ga odpeljejo doli v Cezarejo in ga pošljejo v Tars.

³¹Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

³¹Tako je zdaj cerkev po vsej Judeji in Galileji in Samariji imela mir in je napredovala; in ker je hodila v strahu Gospodovem in v tolažbi svetega Duha, se je razmnoževala.

³²And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

³²Zgodi se pa, ko je Peter obiskoval vse, da pride tudi k svetim, ki so prebivali v Lidi.

³³And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

³³In tu najde nekega človeka, po imenu Eneja, ki je že osem let ležal v postelji, ker je bil mrtvouden.

³⁴And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

³⁴In Peter mu veli: Eneja, Jezus Kristus te ozdravlja; vstani in postelji si sam! In precej vstane.

³⁵And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

³⁵In videli so ga vsi, ki so prebivali v Lidi in Saronu, in so se izpreobrnili h Gospodu.

³⁶Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

³⁶A v Jopi je bila neka učenka, po imenu Tabita (ki se imenuje, če raztolmačiš: Srna); ta je bila polna dobrih del in miloščin, ki jih je delila.

³⁷And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

³⁷Zgodi se pa tiste dni, da zboli in umrje; in omivši jo, jo polože v gornjo izbo.

³⁸And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

³⁸Ker je pa Lida blizu Jope in so učenci slišali, da je Peter tam, pošljejo k njemu dva moža, proseč, naj ne odlaša priti k njim.

³⁹Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

³⁹Peter pa vstane in gre ž njima. In ko pride, ga peljejo v gornjo izbo; in vse vdove ga obstopijo, jokajoč in kažoč suknje in oblačila, ki jim jih je delala Srna, dokler je bila ž njimi.

⁴⁰But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

⁴⁰Peter pa izžene vse ven ter poklekne in moli; nato se obrne k truplu in reče: Tabita, vstani! In ona odpre oči, in ko ugleda Petra, sede.

⁴¹And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

⁴¹In podavši ji roko, jo vzdigne; in pokliče svete in vdove ter jim jo pokaže živo.

⁴²And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

⁴²In to se razglasi po vsej Jopi, in veliko jih je sprejelo vero v Gospoda.Zgodi se pa, da je dosti dni prebil v Jopi pri nekem Simonu strojarju.

⁴³And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.
