¹Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.

¹Potem smo se obrnili in šli v puščavo po poti proti Rdečemu morju, kakor mi je bil velel GOSPOD, in smo dolgo časa hodili ob Seirskem gorovju.

²And the LORD spake unto me, saying,

²Tedaj me ogovori GOSPOD, rekoč:

³Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

³Dosti ste že hodili ob tem gorovju, krenite proti severu!

⁴And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

⁴Ljudstvu pa zapovej takole: Potovali boste skozi pokrajine svojih bratov, sinov Ezavovih, ki prebivajo v Seiru, in se vas bodo bali. Ali skrbno se varujte,

⁵Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

⁵da ne začnete boja ž njimi; zakaj njih dežele vam ne dam še za stopinjo noge ne, ker Ezavu sem dal Seirsko gorovje v lastnino.

⁶Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

⁶Živeža si od njih kupite za denar, da boste jedli, tudi vode kupite od njih za denar, da boste pili.

⁷For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

⁷Zakaj GOSPOD, Bog tvoj, te je blagoslovil pri vsem delu tvojih rok; vedel je za potovanje tvoje po tej veliki puščavi, teh štirideset let je bil GOSPOD, Bog tvoj, s teboj, ničesar ti ni zmanjkalo.

⁸And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

⁸Tako smo šli mimo svojih bratov, sinov Ezavovih, prebivajočih v Seiru, strani od poti po nižini, od Elata in Ezion-geberja. In obrnili smo se in šli po poti Moabske puščave.

⁹And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

⁹In GOSPOD mi je rekel: Ne vedite se sovražno proti Moabcem in ne spustite se v vojno ž njimi; zakaj od njih dežele ti ne dam posesti, ker sem dal Ar sinom Lotovim v lastnino.

¹⁰The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

¹⁰(Emimi so prebivali ondi v prejšnjih časih, ljudstvo veliko, mnogoštevilno in visoke postave kakor Enakimi.

¹¹Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.

¹¹Tudi nje so šteli za velikane kakor Enakime, in Moabci so jih imenovali Emime.

¹²The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.

¹²Tudi v Seiru so v prejšnjih časih prebivali Horejci, a sinovi Ezavovi so jih pregnali in zatrli pred seboj, in prebivali so na njih mestu; prav kakor so storili Izraelci deželi posestva svojega, ki jim jo je dal GOSPOD.)

¹³Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

¹³Zdaj se torej vzdignite in pojdite čez potok Zered! In šli smo čez potok Zered.

¹⁴And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

¹⁴Časa pa, v katerem smo šli od Kades-barnee, dokler nismo prestopili potoka Zereda, je bilo osemintrideset let; v tem času je izumrl ves rod vojščakov izmed tabora, kakor jim je bil prisegel GOSPOD.

¹⁵For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

¹⁵Da, roka GOSPODOVA je bila proti njim, da bi jih potrebil izmed tabora, dokler niso pomrli.

¹⁶So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

¹⁶In zgodi se, ko so bili vsi ti vojščaki iztrebljeni in so umrli izmed ljudstva,

¹⁷That the LORD spake unto me, saying,

¹⁷da me ogovori GOSPOD, rekoč:

¹⁸Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:

¹⁸Ti greš danes skozi pokrajino Moabcev, mimo Ara,

¹⁹And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

¹⁹in se skoraj približaš kraju Amonovih sinov: ne vedi se sovražno proti njim ter se ne bojuj ž njimi, zakaj od dežele Amonovih sinov ti ne dam posesti, ker sem jo dal sinovom Lotovim v lastnino.

²⁰(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

²⁰(Tudi ta se šteje za deželo velikanov; velikani so ondi prebivali v prejšnjih časih, in Amonci so jih imenovali Zamzumime;

²¹A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

²¹bilo je ljudstvo veliko in mnogoštevilno in visoke postave kakor Enakimi; a GOSPOD jih je pokončal pred njimi, tako da so jih pregnali in se naselili na njih mestu,

²²As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

²²prav kakor je storil za sinove Ezavove, prebivajoče v Seiru, ko je zatrl Horejce pred njimi, in so jih ti pregnali in prebivali v njih kraju do današnjega dne.

²³And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

²³In Avimci so prebivali v vaseh v smeri do Gaze, a Kaftorimci so prišli iz Kaftorja ter jih pokončali, in prebivali so na njih mestu.)

²⁴Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

²⁴Vstanite, odpravite se in pojdite čez potok Arnon! Poglej, dal sem ti v roko Sihona Amorejca, kralja v Hesbonu, in njegovo deželo: začni jo posedati in spusti se v boj ž njim.

²⁵This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

²⁵Danes začnem pošiljati strah in grozo pred teboj nad ljudstva pod vsem nebom, da se bodo, ko začujejo glas o tebi, tresli in trepetali pred teboj.

²⁶And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

²⁶Nato sem poslal poročnike iz Kedemotske puščave k Sihonu, kralju v Hesbonu, z mirovnimi besedami, da mu reko:

²⁷Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

²⁷Dovoli mi, da grem skozi tvojo deželo; naravnost po cesti hočem iti, ne ganem se ne na desno, ne na levo.

²⁸Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;

²⁸Živeža mi prodaš za denar, da jem, in vode mi daš za denar, da pijem, samo mi dovoli iti peš skozi deželo,

²⁹(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.

²⁹kakor so mi storili sinovi Ezavovi, ki prebivajo v Seiru, in Moabci, ki prebivajo v Aru; dokler ne pridem prek Jordana v deželo, ki nam jo daje GOSPOD, Bog naš.

³⁰But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

³⁰Ali Sihon, kralj v Hesbonu, nam ni hotel dovoliti, da gremo po njegovem tja, zakaj GOSPOD, Bog tvoj, je otrdil njegovega duha in zakrknil srce njegovo, da bi ti ga izročil v pest, kakor se danes vidi.

³¹And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

³¹In GOSPOD mi reče: Poglej, začel sem ti izročati Sihona in deželo njegovo; začni jo posedati, da ti pride v last dežela njegova.

³²Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

³²In pride nam nasproti Sihon z vsem ljudstvom svojim, da se z nami vojskuje v Jahazu.

³³And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

³³A GOSPOD, Bog naš, nam ga je izročil, in porazili smo njega, sinove njegove in vse ljudstvo njegovo.

³⁴And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

³⁴In tisti čas smo se polastili vseh njegovih mest in s prokletjem uničili vsako mesto, može, žene in otroke, nihče nam ni ubežal;

³⁵Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

³⁵samo živino smo vzeli zase in plen iz mest, katerih smo se polastili.

³⁶From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:

³⁶Od Aroerja, ki je ob bregu potoka Arnona, in od mesta, ki je pri potoku, tja do Gileada ni bilo mesta, ki bi nam bilo nepremagljivo: vse nam je izročil GOSPOD, Bog naš.Samo k deželi Amonovih sinov se nisi približal, tudi ne k vsej strani potoka Jaboka in k mestom na gorah in k vsemu, kar nam je prepovedal GOSPOD, Bog naš.

³⁷Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbade us.

³⁷Samo k deželi Amonovih sinov se nisi približal, tudi ne k vsej strani potoka Jaboka in k mestom na gorah in k vsemu, kar nam je prepovedal GOSPOD, Bog naš.
