¹And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:

¹In GOSPOD je govoril Mojzesu: Vstani, potuj gori odtod, ti in ljudstvo, ki si ga pripeljal iz dežele Egiptovske, v deželo, o kateri sem prisegel Abrahamu, Izaku in Jakobu in govoril: Semenu tvojemu jo hočem dati;

²And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

²In pošljem angela pred teboj in izženem Kanaance, Amorejce in Hetejce in Ferizejce, Hevejce in Jebusejce;

³Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.

³potuj v deželo, v kateri teče med in mleko; zakaj jaz ne pojdem med vami, ker si trdovratno ljudstvo, da te ne pokončam kje na potu.

⁴And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.

⁴In ko je ljudstvo slišalo to hudo poročilo, so žalovali, in nihče ni oblekel lepotine svoje.

⁵For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.

⁵Zakaj GOSPOD je bil rekel Mojzesu: Reci sinovom Izraelovim: Ljudstvo trdovratno ste vi; ako bi šel en trenotek med vami, bi te pokončal. In sedaj odloži lepotičje svoje, da bom vedel, kaj naj ti storim.

⁶And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.

⁶In sneli so sinovi Izraelovi lepotičje s sebe pri gori Horebski.

⁷And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.

⁷In Mojzes vzame šator in si ga razpne zunaj tabora, daleč od taborišča, in ga je imenoval: Šator shoda. In bilo je, da je vsakdo, ki je iskal GOSPODA, hodil k šatoru shoda, ki je bil zunaj tabora.

⁸And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.

⁸In kadarkoli je šel Mojzes ven k Šatoru, je vstalo vse ljudstvo, in vsakteri je stal ob vhodu šatora svojega in gledal za Mojzesom, dokler ni stopil v Šator.

⁹And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.

⁹Ko je pa Mojzes stopil v Šator, je prišel doli oblakov steber in stal ob vhodu Šatora, in GOSPOD je govoril z Mojzesom.

¹⁰And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

¹⁰In videlo je vse ljudstvo oblakov steber ob vhodu v Šator; in vse ljudstvo je vstajalo in se poklanjalo, vsak ob vhodu šatora svojega.

¹¹And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

¹¹In GOSPOD je govoril z Mojzesom iz obličja v obličje, kakor govori človek s prijateljem svojim. Potem se je vrnil v tabor; njegov strežnik pa, Jozue, sin Nunov, mladenič, ni šel iz Šatora.

¹²And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

¹²In Mojzes reče GOSPODU: Glej, ti mi velevaš: Vodi to ljudstvo gori, a nisi mi ga dal spoznati, koga pošlješ z menoj, čeprav si rekel: Poznam te po imenu, in našel si milost v mojih očeh.

¹³Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

¹³Zdaj torej, če sem našel milost v tvojih očeh, mi pokaži pot svojo, da te spoznam in vem, čemu najdem milost v tvojih očeh; in glej, ta narod je tvoje ljudstvo.

¹⁴And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

¹⁴On pa reče: Obličje moje te bo spremljalo, in dam ti pokoj.

¹⁵And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

¹⁵In Mojzes mu reče: Ako nas ne bo spremljalo obličje tvoje, ne pelji nas iz tega kraja.

¹⁶For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

¹⁶In po čem naj bo vendar očitno, da sem našel milost v tvojih očeh, jaz in ljudstvo tvoje? Ne li po tem, da hodiš z nami in smo odlikovani, jaz in ljudstvo tvoje, izmed vseh ljudstev, kar jih je na površju zemlje?

¹⁷And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

¹⁷In GOSPOD reče Mojzesu: Tudi to reč, ki si jo govoril, hočem storiti, kajti našel si milost v mojih očeh in poznam te po imenu.

¹⁸And he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory.

¹⁸On pa reče: Pokaži mi, prosim, slavo svojo!

¹⁹And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

¹⁹In odgovori: Storim, da pojde mimo tebe vsa dobrota moja, in klical bom ime GOSPODOVO pred teboj; in milostiv bodem, komur hočem biti milostiv, in usmilim se, kogar se hočem usmiliti.

²⁰And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

²⁰In reče: Ne moreš videti obličja mojega, zakaj človek me ne more videti in ostati živ.

²¹And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

²¹In GOSPOD reče: Glej, prostor je pri meni, tu se postavi na skalo.

²²And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

²²In zgodi se, ko pojde mimo slava moja, da te postavim v skalno razpoko in te pokrijem z roko svojo, dokler ne preidem mimo.Potem odmaknem roko svojo, in videl me boš odzadaj, a obličja mojega ne bode videti.

²³And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
