¹And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

¹In pride mi beseda GOSPODOVA, govoreč:

²Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;

²Sin človečji, prorokuj zoper proroke Izraelove, ki prorokujejo, in reci njim, ki prorokujejo iz lastnega srca svojega: Čujte besedo GOSPODOVO!

³Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

³Tako pravi Gospod Jehova: Gorje brezpametnim prorokom, ki gredo za lastnim duhom svojim in za tistim, česar niso videli!

⁴O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.

⁴Kakor lisice v razvalinah so bili tvoji proroki, o Izrael!

⁵Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.

⁵Niste stopali pred razpoke zidov in niste gradili obzidja pri hiši Izraelovi, da bi trdno stala v boju na dan GOSPODOV.

⁶They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.

⁶Ničevost in lažnivo vedeževanje so videli, kateri pravijo: „GOSPOD govori!“ dasi jih ni poslal GOSPOD; in tolažijo jih z nado, da se njih beseda potrdi.

⁷Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?

⁷Niste li videli ničeve prikazni in niste li govorili lažnivega vedeževanja, ko ste pravili: „GOSPOD govori!“ in vendar jaz nisem govoril?

⁸Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.

⁸Zato pravi tako Gospod Jehova: Ker ste govorili ničemurnost in videli laž, zato, glejte, sem jaz zoper vas, govori Gospod Jehova;

⁹And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

⁹in roka moja bode zoper proroke, ki vidijo ničemurnost in ki pripovedujejo laž. Ne bodo v svetovalstvu ljudstva mojega in v popisu družine Izraelove ne bodo zapisani, tudi v zemljo Izraelovo ne pridejo. In spoznate, da sem jaz Gospod Jehova.

¹⁰Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:

¹⁰Zato, prav zato, ker zapeljujejo ljudstvo moje, govoreč: Mir! In ga ni miru; in če kdo gradi steno, jo mažejo z belilom –

¹¹Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

¹¹reci tistim mazačem z belilom, da bo padla; ploha se ulije nanjo in toča bo padala in vihar jo razdere.

¹²Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it?

¹²Glejte, ko pade stena, ali vam ne bodo pravili: Kje je belilo, s katerim ste jo mazali?

¹³Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

¹³Zato pravi tako Gospod Jehova: V togoti svoji naredim, da jo razdere hrumeč vihar, in vsled srda mojega se ulije nanjo ploha in usuje toča od jeze moje v pogubo.

¹⁴So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

¹⁴Tako razvalim steno, ki ste jo mazali z belilom, in porušim jo do tal, da se odkrije njena podlaga; in padla bo in vi poginete sredi nje. In spoznate, da sem jaz GOSPOD.

¹⁵Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it;

¹⁵In tako dopolnim togoto svojo nad steno in nad njimi, ko so jo mazali z belilom, in vam porečem: Stene ni več, tudi tistih ni, ki so jo mazali,

¹⁶To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord GOD.

¹⁶prorokov Izraelovih, ki prorokujejo o Jeruzalemu in vidijo zanj prikazni miru, dasi ni miru, govori Gospod Jehova.

¹⁷Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them,

¹⁷Ti pa, sin človečji, obrni obličje proti hčeram ljudstva svojega, ki prorokujejo iz lastnega srca svojega, in prorokuj zoper nje

¹⁸And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you?

¹⁸in reci: Tako pravi Gospod Jehova: Gorje jim, ki šivajo obveze za vse členke rok in obglavne zavoje, prilične vsaki postavi, da bi lovile duše! Hočete li uloviti duše pri ljudstvu mojem, a svoje duše ohraniti v življenju?

¹⁹And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?

¹⁹In mene ste onečastile med ljudstvom mojim za peščico ječmena in za nekoliko grižljajev kruha, da se v smrt pripravijo duše, ki bi ne imele umreti, in pri življenju ohranijo duše, ki bi ne imele živeti, s tem, da lažete ljudstvu mojemu, ki posluša laži.

²⁰Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.

²⁰Zato pravi tako Gospod Jehova: Glejte, jaz sem zoper obveze vaše, s katerimi lovite duše kakor ptice, in jih vam iztrgam iz rok, duše pa pustim v prostost, duše, ki jih lovite kakor ptice.

²¹Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

²¹Tudi obglavne zavoje vaše raztrgam in otmem ljudstvo svoje iz vaše roke, da vam ne bodo več za plen v pesti vaši. In zvedele boste, da sem jaz GOSPOD.

²²Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:

²²Ker ste z lažmi užalostile srce pravičnega, ki mu jaz nisem žalosti prizadel, in krepčale ste roke brezbožnega, da se ne bi vrnil s hudobne poti svoje, da se ohrani v življenju:zato ne boste več videle ničemurnosti in se več ne pečale z vedeževanjem; in otmem ljudstvo svoje iz roke vaše. In spoznate, da sem jaz GOSPOD.

²³Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

²³zato ne boste več videle ničemurnosti in se več ne pečale z vedeževanjem; in otmem ljudstvo svoje iz roke vaše. In spoznate, da sem jaz GOSPOD.
