¹Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

¹Abraham pa vzame drugo ženo, čije ime Ketura.

²And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

²Ona mu porodi Zimrana in Joksana in Medana in Madiana ter Išbaka in Šuaha.

³And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

³Joksan pa rodi Šeba in Dedana; sinovi pa Dedanovi so bili Asurim in Letusim in Leumim.

⁴And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

⁴Sinovi pa Madianovi: Efa in Efer in Hanok in Abida in Eldaa. Vsi ti so bili Keture sinovi.

⁵And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

⁵In dal je Abraham, karkoli je imel, Izaku.

⁶But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

⁶Sinovom žen priležnic pa, katere je imel, je dal Abraham darov; in loči jih od Izaka, sina svojega, dokler je še živel, in pošlje jih proti vzhodu, v jutrovo deželo.

⁷And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

⁷Ta pa je doba let življenja Abrahamovega, kolikor jih je živel: sto petinsedemdeset let.

⁸Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

⁸Potem izdahne in umre Abraham v lepi starosti, star in dni svojih sit; in je bil zbran k ljudstvu svojemu.

⁹And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

⁹In pokopala sta ga Izak in Izmael, sina njegova, v jamo Makpelo na njivi Efrona, sina Zoharja Hetejca, ki je Mamri nasproti,

¹⁰The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

¹⁰na njivi tisti, ki jo je bil kupil Abraham od Hetovih sinov: tam je bil Abraham pokopan in Sara, žena njegova.

¹¹And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.

¹¹In bilo je po smrti Abrahamovi, da je Bog blagoslovil Izaka, sina njegovega. Bival pa je Izak blizu vodnjaka Lahajroja.

¹²Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

¹²Ti pa so rodovi Izmaela, Abrahamovega sina, ki ga je porodila Agara, Sarina dekla egiptovska, Abrahamu;

¹³And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

¹³in ta so imena sinov Izmaelovih, po njih priimkih, po njih rodovih: prvenec Izmaelov Nebajot, potem Kedar in Adbeel in Mibsam,

¹⁴And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

¹⁴in Misma in Duma in Masa,

¹⁵Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

¹⁵Hadad in Tema, Jetur, Nafis in Kedma.

¹⁶These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

¹⁶Ti so sinovi Izmaelovi in ta so njih imena v njih seliščih in šatoriščih: dvanajst prvakov pri rodovih svojih.

¹⁷And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.

¹⁷Ta pa so leta življenja Izmaelovega: sto in sedemintrideset let. Nato izdahne in umre, in je bil zbran k ljudstvu svojemu.

¹⁸And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

¹⁸Prebivali so pa od Havile do Sura, ki je Egiptu nasproti, in v smeri proti Asuru. Vsem bratom svojim nasproti se je naselil.

¹⁹And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:

¹⁹Ti pa so rodovi Izaka, sina Abrahamovega: Abraham je rodil Izaka;

²⁰And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

²⁰in Izak je imel štirideset let, ko si je vzel Rebeko, hčer Betuela Aramejca iz Padan-arama, sestro Labana Aramejca, za ženo.

²¹And Isaac entreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

²¹In prosil je Izak srčno GOSPODA za ženo svojo, zato ker je bila nerodovitna, in izprositi se mu je dal GOSPOD, in spočela je Rebeka, žena njegova.

²²And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD.

²²In ko sta se med seboj pehala otročiča v njej, reče: Če je tako, čemu sem tukaj? In šla je posvetovat se z GOSPODOM.

²³And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

²³GOSPOD pa ji veli: Dva naroda sta v telesu tvojem, in dve ljudstvi se bosta ločili že iz osrčja tvojega; izmed njiju narod eden bode močnejši od drugega, in večji bo služil manjšemu.

²⁴And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

²⁴Ko so se torej izpolnili dnevi njeni za porod, glej, dvojčka v telesu njenem.

²⁵And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

²⁵Izide pa prvi, rjav, ves kakor kosmat plašč: zato so ga imenovali Ezava.

²⁶And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

²⁶Potem pa izide brat njegov, čigar roka je držala Ezava za peto: zato so ga imenovali Jakoba [T. j. ki drži peto, ali izpodrinilec.]. Imel pa je Izak šestdeset let, ko ju je rodila.

²⁷And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

²⁷In dečka sta odrasla, in Ezav je bil dober lovec, mož poljski, Jakob pa krotak mož, bival je v šatorih.

²⁸And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

²⁸Ljubil je pa Izak Ezava, ker je rad jedel od njegovega lova; a Rebeka je ljubila Jakoba.

²⁹And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

²⁹In Jakob je kuhal jed; in Ezav pride s polja, in bil je truden.

³⁰And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

³⁰In Ezav reče Jakobu: Daj mi, prosim, zajeti od te rjave jedi, ker jako sem truden. Zato so ga imenovali Edoma [T. j. rjavec.].

³¹And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

³¹Jakob pa reče: Prodaj mi danes svoje prvorojenstvo.

³²And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

³²Ezav pa reče: Glej, proti smrti hitim, čemu mi tisto prvorojenstvo?

³³And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

³³In Jakob reče: Prisezi mi danes. In mu priseže in proda prvorojenstvo svoje Jakobu.In Jakob dá Ezavu kruha in lečne jedi; ta pojé in se napije, potem vstane ter odide. Tako je Ezav zaničeval prvorojenstvo.

³⁴Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

³⁴In Jakob dá Ezavu kruha in lečne jedi; ta pojé in se napije, potem vstane ter odide. Tako je Ezav zaničeval prvorojenstvo.
