¹Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

¹In zgodi se po smrti Mojzesa, hlapca GOSPODOVEGA, da je govoril GOSPOD Jozuetu, sinu Nunovemu, Mojzesovemu strežniku, rekoč:

²Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

²Mojzes, hlapec moj je umrl; sedaj torej vstani, pojdi čez ta Jordan, ti in vse to ljudstvo, v deželo, ki jo jaz dajem njim, Izraelovim sinovom.

³Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

³Vsak kraj, ki stopi nanj vaše noge podplat, sem vam dal, kakor sem govoril Mojzesu.

⁴From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

⁴Od puščave in tega Libanona tja do velike reke, reke Evfrata, vsa dežela Hetejcev, in do velikega morja proti solnčnemu zahodu, bodi vaša meja.

⁵There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

⁵Nihče se ti ne bo mogel ustavljati vse dni tvojega življenja; kakor sem bil z Mojzesom, tako bodem s teboj: ne odtegnem se ti in te ne zapustim.

⁶Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

⁶Bodi močan in srčen, zakaj ti izročiš temu ljudstvu v dediščino deželo, za katero sem prisegel njih očetom, da jim jo dam.

⁷Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

⁷Samo močan bodi in silno srčen, da si prizadevaš delati po vsej postavi, ki ti jo je zapovedal Mojzes, hlapec moj; ne odstopi od nje ne na desno, ne na levo, da bi uspešno ravnal, kamorkoli pojdeš.

⁸This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

⁸Ta knjiga postave naj ne gre od tvojih ust, temuč jo premišljaj dan in noč, da bi si prizadeval delati po vsem, kar je pisano v njej; zakaj tedaj storiš uspešno svojo pot, tedaj ti pojde po sreči.

⁹Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

⁹Nisem li ti zapovedal: Bodi močan in srčen? Ne straši se in ne boj se, kajti GOSPOD, tvoj Bog, je s teboj, kamorkoli greš.

¹⁰Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

¹⁰Tedaj zapove Jozue oblastnikom ljudstva, rekoč:

¹¹Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

¹¹Prehodite tabor in zapovejte ljudstvu ter recite: Pripravite si živeža, zakaj po treh dneh pojdete čez ta Jordan, da stopite v deželo in jo posedete, ki vam jo daje v posest GOSPOD, vaš Bog.

¹²And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,

¹²Rubenskim pa in Gadskim in polovici Manasejevega rodu veli Jozue, rekoč:

¹³Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

¹³Pomnite besede, ki vam jih je zapovedal Mojzes, služabnik GOSPODOV, rekši: GOSPOD, vaš Bog, vas je pripravil v pokoj in vam je dal to pokrajino.

¹⁴Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valor, and help them;

¹⁴Žene vaše, otročiči vaši in živina vaša naj ostane v pokrajini, ki vam jo je dal Mojzes, na tej strani Jordana; sami pa pojdite oboroženi pred svojimi brati, vsi junaški možje, in jim pomagajte,

¹⁵Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD's servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

¹⁵dokler GOSPOD ne pripravi pokoj vaših bratov, kakor je vas, in posedejo tudi oni deželo, katero jim daje GOSPOD, Bog vaš. Potem se zopet vrnete v lastno deželo in jo posedete, kakor vam jo je dal Mojzes, služabnik GOSPODOV, na tej strani Jordana, proti solnčnemu vzhodu.

¹⁶And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

¹⁶In odgovore Jozuetu in reko: Vse, kar si nam zapovedal, storimo, in kamorkoli nas pošlješ, pojdemo.

¹⁷According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

¹⁷Kakor smo bili Mojzesu pokorni, bodemo tudi tebi; samo da bodi GOSPOD, tvoj Bog, s teboj, kakor je bil z Mojzesom.Kdor se bo ustavljal povelju tvojemu in ne poslušal tvojih besed v vsem, kar nam zapoveduješ, naj umrje; samo močan bodi in srčen!

¹⁸Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

¹⁸Kdor se bo ustavljal povelju tvojemu in ne poslušal tvojih besed v vsem, kar nam zapoveduješ, naj umrje; samo močan bodi in srčen!
