¹Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

¹Gorje jim, ki izmišljajo krivičnost in pripravljajo hudobnost na ležiščih svojih! Ko zasveti jutro, jo izvršujejo, ker je v moči njih roke.

²And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

²Želja jih je po njivah, pa jih ugrabijo, in po hišah, pa jih vzemo, in silo delajo možu in hiši njegovi, človeku in dediščini njegovi.

³Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.

³Zatorej pravi tako GOSPOD: Glej, namerjam nesrečo zoper to rodovino, ki ji ne odtegnete svojih vratov in pod katero ne boste več ošabno hodili, ker čas je hud.

⁴In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

⁴Tisti dan začno zabavljico o vas in zapojo žalostinko: „Zgodilo se je!“ bodo pravili, „docela smo opustošeni. Delež ljudstva mojega zamenja lastnika; kako ga odjemlje meni! Odpadniku razdeljuje naše njive.“

⁵Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD.

⁵Zato ne boš imel nikogar, ki bi zate vrgel mersko vrvico ob žrebanju v zboru GOSPODOVEM.

⁶Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

⁶„Ne oznanjajte!“ oznanjajo lažiproroki. Ako se ne oznanja onim, ne mine sramota.

⁷O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

⁷Se li bo reklo, hiša Jakobova, da je nagle jeze GOSPOD? So li takšna dejanja njegova? Niso li besede moje prijazne njemu, ki živi pošteno?

⁸Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.

⁸Še ondan se je uprlo ljudstvo moje kakor sovražnik: iznad suknje jemljete plašč njim, ki gredo brezskrbno mimo, ki so nasprotni vojski.

⁹The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.

⁹Žene ljudstva mojega podite iz hiš njih veselja, njih otročičem kradete moj kras za vselej.

¹⁰Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

¹⁰Vstanite in pojdite! ker ta dežela ni vam počivališče zavoljo nečednosti, ki uničuje, in to s strašno pogubo.

¹¹If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

¹¹Ko bi bil človek, ki se žene za vetrom in sleparsko laže: „Prorokoval ti bom o vinu in močni pijači“, ta bi bil prorok temu ljudstvu!

¹²I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

¹²Gotovo te zberem, o Jakob, tebe vsega; gotovo skupim ostanek Izraelov; skupaj jih denem kakor ovce v Bozri, kakor čredo na njenem pašniku, da bode velik hrup od množice ljudi.Prodiralec pojde gori pred njimi; proderejo in pojdejo skozi vrata in bodo skozi nje hodili ven; in njih kralj pojde pred njimi in GOSPOD na njih čelu.

¹³The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.

¹³Prodiralec pojde gori pred njimi; proderejo in pojdejo skozi vrata in bodo skozi nje hodili ven; in njih kralj pojde pred njimi in GOSPOD na njih čelu.
