¹Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

¹Tedaj pristopijo hčere Zelofada, sinu Heferja, sinu Gileada, sinu Mahirja, sinu Manasejevega, izmed rodovin Manaseja, sinu Jožefovega; in ta so imena hčera njegovih: Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka in Tirza.

²And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

²Te torej se postavijo pred Mojzesa in Eleazarja duhovnika in pred kneze in vso občino ob vratih shodnega šatora ter reko:

³Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

³Naš oče je umrl v puščavi, pa ni bil v družbi tistih, ki so se zbrali zoper GOSPODA, v družbi Korahovi, ampak umrl je vsled svojega greha; sinov pa ni imel.

⁴Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

⁴Zakaj naj bi izginilo ime očeta našega med rodovino njegovo, ker ni imel sina? Dajte nam posestvo med brati očeta našega!

⁵And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

⁵Tedaj prinese Mojzes njih pravdo pred GOSPODA.

⁶And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

⁶In GOSPOD mu odgovori, rekoč:

⁷The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

⁷Prav so govorile hčere Zelofadove: moraš jim dati dedno posest med brati njih očeta; naredi torej, da preide dediščina njih očeta nanje.

⁸And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

⁸Sinovom Izraelovim pa govóri, rekoč: Če kdo umrje brez sina, prenesite njegovo dediščino na hčer njegovo;

⁹And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

⁹ako pa nima hčere, dajte dediščino njegovo bratom njegovim;

¹⁰And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.

¹⁰ako pa nima bratov, dajte njegovo dediščino bratom očeta njegovega;

¹¹And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹¹ako pa ni bratov očeta njegovega, dajte dediščino njegovo najbližjemu sorodniku iz rodovine njegove, da mu bodi v last. In to bodi sinovom Izraelovim sodna postava, kakor je GOSPOD zapovedal Mojzesu.

¹²And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

¹²In GOSPOD veli Mojzesu: Pojdi na to goro Abarim, in oglej ž nje deželo, ki sem jo dal sinovom Izraelovim.

¹³And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

¹³In ko si jo ogledaš, boš zbran tudi ti k ljudstvu svojemu, kakor je bil zbran Aron, brat tvoj,

¹⁴For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

¹⁴ker sta se upirala povelju mojemu v puščavi Zinski ob prepiru občine, ko bi me bila morala svetega izkazati pri vodah vpričo njih. (To je tista Voda prepira v Kadesu v Zinski puščavi.)

¹⁵And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,

¹⁵Mojzes pa ogovori GOSPODA takole:

¹⁶Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

¹⁶Postavi naj GOSPOD, Bog duhov vsega mesa, nad občino moža,

¹⁷Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

¹⁷ki naj bi hodil pred njimi ven in noter ter jih vodil ven in noter, da ne bo GOSPODOVA občina kakor ovce brez pastirja.

¹⁸And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

¹⁸Nato reče GOSPOD Mojzesu: Vzemi si Jozueta, sina Nunovega, moža, v katerem je Duh, in položi roko nanj,

¹⁹And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

¹⁹ter ga postavi pred Eleazarja duhovnika in pred vso občino in mu zapovej vpričo njih,

²⁰And thou shalt put some of thine honor upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

²⁰in deni nanj časti svoje, da bi mu bila poslušna vsa občina Izraelovih otrok.

²¹And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

²¹In naj stopi pred Eleazarja duhovnika, in ta naj vpraša zanj po sodbi Urima pred GOSPODOM: na njegovo povelje pridejo ven in na njegovo povelje pojdejo noter, on in vsi Izraelovi sinovi ž njim, vsa občina.

²²And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

²²Tedaj je storil Mojzes, kakor mu je bil zapovedal GOSPOD; in vzame Jozueta ter ga postavi pred Eleazarja duhovnika in pred vso občino,in položi nanj roke in mu da zapoved, kakor je bil govoril GOSPOD po Mojzesu.

²³And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
