²How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

²Kako je prisegel GOSPODU, obljubil Mogočnemu Jakobovemu:

³Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

³Ne pojdem v hiše svoje šator, ne stopim na posteljo ležišča svojega,

⁴I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

⁴spanja ne dam očem svojim, dremanja trepalnicam svojim,

⁵Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

⁵dokler ne najdem mesta za GOSPODA, bivališča za Mogočnega Jakobovega!

⁶Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.

⁶Glej, skrinja zaveze je bila, kakor smo slišali, v Efrati, našli smo jo na poljanah Jaarskih.

⁷We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

⁷Pojdimo v šatore njegove, priklanjajmo se pred nog njegovih podnožjem!

⁸Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

⁸Vstani, GOSPOD, stopi v počivališče svoje, ti in skrinja moči tvoje!

⁹Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

⁹Duhovniki tvoji naj se oblečejo s pravičnostjo in sveti tvoji naj pojó veselo.

¹⁰For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

¹⁰Zavoljo Davida, hlapca svojega, ne zavrni maziljenca svojega obličja!

¹¹The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

¹¹Prisegel je GOSPOD Davidu resnico, od katere ne bo odstopil: „Od sadú telesa tvojega posadim na prestol tvoj.

¹²If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

¹²Ako se bodo držali zaveze moje sinovi tvoji in pričevanj mojih, katerih jih bom učil, bodo tudi njih sinovi vekomaj sedeli na prestolu mojem.“

¹³For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

¹³Zakaj GOSPOD je izvolil Sion, želel si ga je za prebivališče svoje:

¹⁴This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

¹⁴To je počivališče moje vekomaj, tu bom prebival, ker njega sem si želel.

¹⁵I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

¹⁵Hrano njegovo bom bogato blagoslovil, potrebne njegove nasitim s kruhom;

¹⁶I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

¹⁶in duhovnike njegove oblečem z zveličanjem, in sveti njegovi bodo veselo peli.

¹⁷There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

¹⁷Storim, da tam požene rog Davidu, kjer sem pripravil svetilo maziljencu svojemu.Sovražnike njegove ogrnem s sramoto, nad njim pa bo cvetel venec njegov.

¹⁸His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
