¹Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

²The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

²GOSPOD ga bo zaslanjal in ga ohranil življenju, da ga bodo blagrovali na zemlji; in ne izdajaj ga želji sovražnikov njegovih.

³The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

³GOSPOD ga bo podpiral na postelji slabosti; vse ležišče mu v bolezni njegovi premeniš.

⁴I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

⁴Jaz sem rekel: GOSPOD, usmili se me, ozdravi dušo mojo, ker tebi sem grešil.

⁵Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

⁵Sovražniki moji pa govore hudo o meni: Kdaj bo umrl in izgine ime njegovo?

⁶And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

⁶In če me kdo pride obiskat, govori laž; srce njegovo si zbira krivico, in gre ven in jo raznaša.

⁷All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

⁷Skupaj šepetajo zoper mene vsi sovražilci moji, zoper mene izmišljajo, kar bi mi bilo v zlo, govoreč:

⁸An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

⁸Stvar silno huda se ga je prijela, in ker je obležal, ne vstane več.

⁹Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

⁹Celo prijatelj moj, ki sem mu zaupal, ki je jedel moj kruh, je vzdignil peto proti meni.

¹⁰But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

¹⁰Ti pa, GOSPOD, usmili se me in me vzdigni, da jim povrnem.

¹¹By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

¹¹V tem spoznam, da se me veseliš, ko ne bo sovražnik moj ukal nad menoj.

¹²And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

¹²Mene pa vzdržuješ v brezmadežnosti moji in me staviš pred obličje svoje za večno. —Slava GOSPODU, Bogu Izraelovemu, od vekomaj do vekomaj. Amen in Amen! Knjiga druga.
