1My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
1 Amma araŋ ra boro boobo ma si ciya dondonandikoyaŋ, ay nya-izey, zama araŋ ga bay kaŋ iri kaŋ ga dondonandi ga du ciiti kaŋ ga jaase boro cindey wano.
2For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
2 Zama hari boobo ra iri boro kulu goono ga harta. Da boro siino ga harta sanni ra, bora din ya toonante no. A ga hin ka alzam daŋ ka nga gaahamo kulu gaay mo.
3Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
3 D'iri ga alzamyaŋ daŋ bariyey meyey ra zama i m'iri gana se, iri g'i gaahamey kulu bare mo.
4Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
4 Guna hiyey mo. Baa kaŋ i ga beeri gumo, haw gaabikooni mo g'i tuti, kulu nda yaadin i g'i bare nda kaay kayna nangu kulu kaŋ hi funkwa ga ba nga ma koy.
5Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
5 Yaadin mo no deene ga hima. Baa kaŋ a ga kayna, a ga hari bambata yaŋ fooma. Guna mo mate kaŋ cine danji kayna ga saaji lunku-lunku ton.
6And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
6 Deene mo danji no. Ndunnya no kaŋ to da laala. Iri gaahamo jare fo no kaŋ ga gaahamo kulu ziibandi. Danji* bangu danjo ga deene diyandi, a ga naŋ iri fundey me-a-me ma ton mo.
7For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
7 Woodin banda, boro ga hin ka ganji hamey kulu gooji, da curey da gande fanakey da hamey kaŋ go teeko ra, i goro mo Adam-izey goojiyaŋ cire.
8But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
8 Amma boro kulu sinda dabari ka deene gooji. Ilaalo no kaŋ si fulanzam, a to mo da naaji kaŋ ga boro wi.
9Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
9 Deene no iri goono ga Rabbi nda Baabo saabu nd'a. Deene mo no iri goono ga borey laali nd'a, kaŋ Irikoy te nga himando boŋ.
10Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
10 Saabuyaŋ da laaliyaŋ mo goono ga fun me folloŋ ra. Ay nya-izey, a si hima yaadin ma te.
11Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
11 Mansaare go no kaŋ ga hari kaano da hari fotto kaa taray hari mo follonku ra no?.
12Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
12 Ay nya-izey, jeejay nya ga hin ka zeytun* ize hay no? Wala reyzin* nya ga hin ka jeejay ize hay no? Mansaare kaŋ gonda ciiri mo si hin ka hari kaŋ ga kaan kaa taray.
13Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
13 Araŋ ra may no ga ti laakalkooni nda fahamante? Bora ma nga goray hanna cabe nga goyey do kaŋ a ga te da lalabu kaŋ ga fun laakal ra.
14But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
14 Amma d'araŋ gonda canse fotto da kakaw araŋ biney ra, araŋ ma si fooma ka tangari te cimi boŋ.
15This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
15 Laakal wo manti laakal kaŋ fun beene no, amma ndunnya wane no, Adam-ize daa laala wane no, Iblisi* wane mo no.
16For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
16 Zama nango kaŋ canse nda kakaw go, noodin ga bara nda yanje nda goy laalo dumi kulu mo.
17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
17 Amma laakal kaŋ ga fun beene, sintina day a ga hanan, laakal kanay wane no, baani wane no, boŋ-dogonay wane mo no. Toonante no da suuji nda goy hannoyaŋ. A si sanni ci ka tun a boŋ, a sinda munaficitaray mo.
18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
18 Borey kaŋ ga laakal kanay ceeci, kaŋ ga duma laakal kanay ra ga adilitaray albarka wi.
