¹And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

¹ЯК рӯзи шанбе Ӯ ба хонаи яке аз сардорони фарисиён барои хӯрок хӯрдан омад, ва онҳо Ӯро мушоҳида мекарданд:

²And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

²Ва инак, марде пеши Ӯ омад, ки гирифтори бемории истисқо буд.

³And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

³Исо ба шариатдонон ва фарисиён рӯ оварда, гуфт: Юё дар рӯзи шанбе ншфо додан ҷоиз аст ё не?»

⁴And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

⁴Онҳо хомӯш монданд. Ва Ӯ он мардро ламс намуда, шифо бахшид ва фиристод.

⁵And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

⁵Ва ба онҳо гуфт: «Кист аз шумо, ки хараш ё говаш ба даруни чоҳе афтода бошад, дарҳол онро дар рӯзи шанбе берун наоварад?»

⁶And they could not answer him again to these things.

⁶Ба ин гап эроде гирифта натавонистанд.

⁷And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.

⁷Чун Ӯ пайхас намуд, ки даъватшудагон барои нишастани худ пешгоҳро интихоб мекунанд, ба онҳо масале гуфт:

⁸When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

⁸«Вақте ки касе туро ба тӯи арӯсӣ даъват менамояд, дар пешгоҳ нанишин: мабодо дар миёни даъватшудагон шахси аз ту мӯҳтарамтаре бошад,

⁹And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

⁹«Ва он касе ки туро ва ӯро даъват намудааст, назди ту биёяду гӯяд: "Ҷои худро ба ӯ бидеҳ"; ва он гоҳ бо хиҷолат дар тюини хона ҷой гирифтанат лозим мешавад.

¹⁰But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

¹⁰«Балки, агар туро даъват карда бошанд, омада, дар поини хона бинишин, то он касе ки туро даъват намудааст, назди ту биёяду гуяд: "Эй дӯст! Болотар бинишин"; он гоҳ туро пеши ҳамнишинонат эҳтироме хоҳад буд,

¹¹For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹¹«Зеро ҳар кӣ худро баланд кунад, паст гардад, ва ҳар кӣ худро фурӯтан созад, сарафроз гардад».

¹²Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

¹²Ва ба он касе ки Ӯро даъват намуда буд, гуфт: «Вакте ки хӯроки пешинӣ ё хӯроки бегоҳй ташкил мекунӣ, дӯстон ё бародарон ё хешон ё ҳамсоягони сарватдори худро даъват накун: мабодо онҳо низ туро даъват намоянд, ва мукофоти ту дода шавад.

¹³But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

¹³«Балки, чун зиёфат медиҳй, мискинон, маъюбон, шалон ва кӯронро даъват намо,

¹⁴And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

¹⁴«Ва ту хушбахт хоҳӣ буд, ки онҳо имконият надоранд мукофоте ба ту бидиҳанд; зеро ки дар рӯзи эҳьёи одилон мукофоте ба ту ато хоҳад шуд».

¹⁵And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

¹⁵Яке аз онҳое ки бо Ӯ назди суфра нишаста буданд, ин сухаконро шунида, ба Ӯ гуфт: «Хушо касе ки дар Малакути Худо хӯрок хӯрад!»

¹⁶Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

¹⁶Ва Ӯ ба вай гуфт: «Шахсезиёфати калоне ташкил карда, бисьёр касонро даънат намуд;

¹⁷And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

¹⁷«Чун вақти зиёфат расид, ғуломи худро фиристод, то ки ба даъватшудагон гӯяд: "Биёед, зеро ки ҳама чиз тайёр аст".

¹⁸And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

¹⁸«Ва ҳама, гӯё ки забон як карда бошанд, ба узрхоҳӣ сар карданд. Аввалин ба вай гуфт: "Ман замин харидаам, ва рафта онро диданам лозим аст; аз ту хоҳишмандам, ки маро маъзур дорӣ".

¹⁹And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

¹⁹«Дигаре гуфт: "Ман панҷ ҷуфт барзагов харидаам ва меравам, ки онҳоро имтиҳон намоям; аз ту хоҳишмандам, ки маро маъзур дорӣ".

²⁰And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

²⁰«Сеюмин гуфт: "Ман зан гирифтаам ва ба ин сабаб наметавонам биёям".

²¹So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

²¹«Ва он ғулом омада, инро ба оғои худ хабар дод. Он гоҳ соҳиби хона дарғазаб шуда, ба ғуломи худ гуфт: "Зуд ба кӯчаву паскӯчаҳои шаҳр баро, ва мискинон, маъюбон, шалон ва кӯронро ба ин ҷо биёр".

²²And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

²²«Ва ғулом гуфт: "Эй оғо! Он чи гуфтӣ, иҷро шуд, ва боз ҷой ҳаст".

²³And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

²³«Ва оғо ба ғулом гуфт: „Ба сари роҳҳо ва кӯчабоғҳо баромада, мардумро ба омадан ризо кун, то ки хонаи ман пур шавад;

²⁴For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

²⁴"Зеро ба шумо мегӯям, ки ҳеҷ яке аз он шахсони даъватшуда хӯроки маро нахоҳад чашид: зеро ки даъватшудагон бисьёранд, аммо баргузидагон - кам"».

²⁵And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,

²⁵Бо Ӯ мардуми бисьёре равона буданд; ва Ӯ ба онҳо рӯ оварда, гуфт:

²⁶If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

²⁶«Агар касе назди Ман ояд ва аз падару модар, зану фарзандон, бародарону хоҳарон ва ҳамчунин аз ҷони худ нафрат накунад, вай наметавонад шогирди Ман бошад;

²⁷And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

²⁷«Ва ҳар кӣ салиби худро бардошта, Маро пайравӣ намекунад, наметавонад шогирди Ман бошад;

²⁸For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

²⁸«Зеро кист аз шумо, ки бурҷе сохтанй шуда, аввал нишаста харҷи онро ҳисоб накунад, ки оё ӯ имконияти ба анҷом расондани онро дорад,

²⁹Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

²⁹«Ки мабодо, баъд аз ниҳодани таҳкурсии он, ба тамом карданаш қуввати ӯ нарасад, ва ҳамаи касоне ки инро мебинанд, ӯро тамасхур кунанд.

³⁰Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

³⁰«Ва гӯянд: "Ин шахс ба сохтан шурӯь намуд ва ба тамом кардан қувваташ нарасид?"

³¹Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

³¹«Ё кадом подшоҳ аст, ки ба муқобили подшоҳи дигар ба ҷанг даромаданӣ шуда, аввал нишаста маслиҳат накунад, ки оё бо даҳ ҳазор аскар қодир аст ба касе муқовимат намояд, ки бо бист ҳазор аскар бар зидди ӯ меояд?

³²Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

³²«Вагар на, ҳанӯз ки вай дур аст, назди вай элчӣ фиристода, сулҳ металабад.

³³So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

³³«Ҳамчунин ҳар яке аз шумо, агар аз тамоми дороии худ даст накашад, наметавонад шогирди Ман бошад.

³⁴Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

³⁴«Намак хуб аст; лекин агар намак қувваташро гум кунад, ба кадом чиз боз намакин шавад?

³⁵It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

³⁵«На барои замин кор меояд, на барои нурӣ; онро бароварда мепартоянд. Ҳар кӣ гӯши шунаво дорад, бишнавад!»
