¹And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

¹ЧӮН Исо насиҳатгӯиро ба дувоздаҳ шогирди Худ ба анҷом расонд, аз он ҷо равона шуд, то ки дар шаҳрҳои онҳо таълим диҳад ва мавъиза кунад.

²Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

²Вақте ки Яҳьё дар зиндон аъмоли Масеҳро шунид, ду нафар аз шогирдони худ фиристод,

³And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

³То ки ба Ӯ бигӯянд: Юё Ту Ҳамон хастӣ, ки бояд биёяд, ё мунтазири дигаре бошем?»

⁴Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

⁴Исо дар ҷавоби онҳо гуфт: «Биравед ва он чи шунидед ва дидед, ба Яҳьё бигӯед:

⁵The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

⁵«Кӯрҳо мебинанд ва шалҳо роҳ мераванд, махавиён пок мешаванд ва карҳо мешунаванд, мурдагон эҳьё мешаванд, ва ба мискинон башорат дода мешавад;

⁶And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

⁶«Ва хушо касе ки дар ҳаққи Ман ба васваса наафтад».

⁷And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

⁷Ва ҳангоме ки онҳо рафтанд, Исо ба мардум дар бораи Яҳьё ба сухан оғоз кард: «Барои дидани чӣ чиз ба биёбон рафта будед? Оё барои дидани нае ки аз бод меларзад?

⁸But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

⁸«Пас барои дидани чӣ чиз рафта будед? Оё барои дидани марде ки сару либоси нарм дар бар дорад? Онҳое ки сару либоси нарм дар бар доранд, дар қасрҳои подшоҳонанд.

⁹But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

⁹«Пас барои дидани чӣ чиз рафта будед?Оё барои дидани як набй? Оре, ба шумо мегӯям, ки вай аз набӣ ҳам бузургтар аст.

¹⁰For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

¹⁰«Зеро вай ҳамон аст, ки дар бораи вай навишта шудааст: "Инак, Ман қосиди Худро пешопеши Ту мефиристам, то роҳи Туро пеши Ту муҳайё кунад".

¹¹Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

¹¹«Ба ростӣ ба шумо мегӯям: аз миёни онҳое ки аз зан таваллуд ёфтаанд, бузургтар аз Яҳьёи Таъмиддиҳанда барнахост; лекин он ки дар Малакути Осмон хурдтарин аст, аз вай бузургтар аст.

¹²And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

¹²«Ва аз айёлш Яҳьёи Таъмиддиҳанда то алҳол Малакути Осмон бо зӯрӣ ба даст оварда мешавад, ва зӯроварон онро мерабоянд;

¹³For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

¹³«Зеро ки тамоми анбиё ва Таврот то вақти зуҳури Яҳьё пешгӯӣ кардаанд.

¹⁴And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

¹⁴«Ва агар қабул кардан хоҳед, вай Ильёс аст, ки бояд биёяд.

¹⁵He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁵«Ҳар кӣ гӯши шунаво дорад, бишнавад!

¹⁶But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

¹⁶«Лекин ин наслро ба кӣ монанд кунам? Вай ба кӯдаконе монанд аст, ки дар кӯчаҳо нишаста ва ба рафиқони худ муроҷиат карда,

¹⁷And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

¹⁷«Мегӯянд: "Барои шумо най навохтем, рақс накардед; барои шумо навҳагарӣ кардем, нагиристед".

¹⁸For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

¹⁸«Зеро ки Яҳьё омад, намехӯрад ва наменӯшад; мегӯянд: "Дев дорад".

¹⁹The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

¹⁹«Писари Одам омад, мехӯрад ва менушад; мегуянд: "Инак марди пурхӯр ва майгусор, ки дӯсти боҷгирон ва гуноҳкорон аст". Ва ҳикмат аз тарафи фарзандонаш тасдиқ карда мешавад».

²⁰Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

²⁰Он гоҳ Ӯ ба мазаммат кардани шаҳрҳое шурӯъ намуд, ки аксари мӯъҷизоти Ӯ дар он ҷо зоҳир шуда буд, чунки тавба накарда буданд.

²¹Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

²¹«Вой бар ҳоли ту, эй Кӯрозин! Вой бар ҳоли ту, эй Байт-Сайдо! Зеро агар мӯъҷизоте ки дар шумо зоҳир шуд, дар Сӯр ва Сидӯн зоҳир мешуд, кайҳо палоспӯш ва хокистарнишин шуда, тавба мекарданд;

²²But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

²²«Лекин ба шумо мегӯям: дар рӯзи доварӣ ҳолати Сӯр ва Сидӯн аз шумо сабуктар хоҳад буд.

²³And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

²³«Ва ту, эй Кафарнаҳум, ки сар ба осмон афрохтаӣ, ба дӯзах сарнагун хоҳӣ шуд; зеро агар мӯъчизоте ки дар ту зоҳир шуд, дар Садӯм зоҳир мешуд, вай то имрӯз боқӣ мемонд;

²⁴But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

²⁴«Лекин ба шумо мегӯям, ки дар рӯзи доварӣ ҳолати сарзамини Садӯм аз ту сабуктар хоҳад 'буд».

²⁵At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

²⁵Дар он вақт Исо суханашро давом дода, гуфт: «Туро, эй Падар, эй Худованди осмон ва замин, ситоиш мекунам, ки ин чизҳоро аз хирадмандон ва оқилон гашҳон доштӣ ва ба кӯдакон ошкор кардй.

²⁶Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

²⁶«Оре, эй Падар! Зеро ки ҳусни таваҷҷӯҳи Ту чунин буд.

²⁷All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

²⁷«Ҳама чизро Падарам ба Ман супурдааст, ва ҳеҷ кас Писарро, ҷуз Падар, намешиносад; ва ҳеҷ кас Падарро намешиносад, ҷуз Писар ва касе ки Писар бихоҳад ба вай ошкор кунад.

²⁸Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

²⁸«Назди Ман оед, эй ҳамаи заҳматкашон ва гаронборон, ва Ман ба шумо оромӣ хоҳам бахшид;

²⁹Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

²⁹«Юғи Маро ба гардани худ гиред ва аз Ман таълим ёбед, зеро ки Ман ҳалим ва фурӯтан ҳастам, ва ҷонҳои шумо оромӣ хоҳад ёфт;

³⁰For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

³⁰«Зеро юғи Ман ҳуш ва бори Ман сабук аст».
