1And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
1และข้าพเจ้าได้ยืนอยู่ที่หาดทรายชายทะเล และเห็นสัตว์ร้ายตัวหนึ่งขึ้นมาจากทะเล มันมีเจ็ดหัวและสิบเขา ที่เขาทั้งสิบนั้นมีมงกุฎสิบอัน และมีชื่อที่เป็นคำหมิ่นประมาทจารึกไว้ที่หัวทั้งหลายของมัน
2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
2สัตว์ร้ายที่ข้าพเจ้าได้เห็นนั้น เหมือนเสือดาว และเท้าเหมือนเท้าหมี และปากเหมือนปากสิงโต และพญานาคได้ให้ฤทธิ์ของมัน และที่นั่งของมัน และสิทธิอำนาจอันใหญ่ยิ่งแก่สัตว์ร้ายนั้น
3And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
3ข้าพเจ้าได้เห็นว่าหัวๆหนึ่งของสัตว์ร้ายดูเหมือนถูกฟันปางตาย แต่แผลที่ถูกฟันนั้นรักษาหายแล้ว คนทั้งโลกติดตามสัตว์ร้ายนั้นไปด้วยความอัศจรรย์ใจ
4And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
4เขาทั้งหลายได้บูชาพญานาคที่ได้ให้อำนาจแก่สัตว์ร้ายนั้น เขาได้บูชาสัตว์ร้ายนั้น กล่าวว่า "ใครจะเปรียบปานสัตว์นี้ได้ และใครสามารถจะทำสงครามกับสัตว์นี้ได้"
5And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
5และยอมให้สัตว์ร้ายนั้นมีปากที่พูดคำกล่าวร้ายและหมิ่นประมาท และยอมให้มันใช้อำนาจกระทำอย่างนั้นตลอดสี่สิบสองเดือน
6And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
6มันกล่าวคำหมิ่นประมาทต่อพระเจ้า เพื่อหมิ่นประมาทต่อพระนามของพระองค์ ต่อพลับพลาของพระองค์ และต่อผู้ที่อยู่ในสวรรค์
7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
7และยอมให้มันทำสงครามกับพวกวิสุทธิชน และชนะเขา และให้มันมีอำนาจเหนือชนทุกตระกูล ทุกภาษา และทุกประชาชาติ
8And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
8และบรรดาคนที่อยู่ในแผ่นดินโลกจะบูชาสัตว์ร้ายนั้น คือคนทั้งปวงที่ไม่มีชื่อจดไว้ในหนังสือแห่งชีวิตของพระเมษโปดก ผู้ทรงถูกปลงพระชนม์ตั้งแต่แรกทรงสร้างโลก
9If any man have an ear, let him hear.
9ใครมีหูก็ให้ฟังเอาเถิด
10He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
10ผู้ใดที่กำหนดไว้ให้ไปเป็นเชลยผู้นั้นก็จะต้องไปเป็นเชลย ผู้ใดฆ่าเขาด้วยดาบผู้นั้นก็ต้องถูกฆ่าด้วยดาบ นี่แหละคือความอดทนและความเชื่อของพวกวิสุทธิชน
11And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
11และข้าพเจ้าเห็นสัตว์ร้ายอีกตัวหนึ่งขึ้นมาจากแผ่นดิน มีสองเขาเหมือนลูกแกะ และพูดเหมือนพญานาค
12And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
12มันใช้อำนาจของสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้นอย่างครบถ้วนต่อหน้าสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้น มันทำให้โลกและคนที่อยู่ในโลกบูชาสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้น ที่มีแผลปางตายแต่รักษาหายแล้ว
13And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
13สัตว์ร้ายนี้แสดงการมหัศจรรย์ใหญ่ จนกระทำให้ไฟตกลงมาจากฟ้าสู่แผ่นดินโลกประจักษ์แก่ตามนุษย์ทั้งหลาย
14And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
14มันล่อลวงคนทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในโลกด้วยการอัศจรรย์นั้น ซึ่งมันมีอำนาจกระทำท่ามกลางสายตาของสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้น และมันสั่งให้คนทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในโลกสร้างรูปจำลองให้แก่สัตว์ร้าย ที่ถูกฟันด้วยดาบแต่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่นั้น
15And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
15และมันมีอำนาจที่จะให้ลมหายใจแก่รูปสัตว์นั้น เพื่อให้รูปสัตว์ร้ายนั้นทั้งพูดได้ และกระทำให้บรรดาคนที่ไม่ยอมบูชารูปสัตว์ร้ายนั้นถึงแก่ความตายได้
16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
16และมันยังได้บังคับคนทั้งปวง ทั้งผู้น้อยผู้ใหญ่ คนมั่งมีและคนจน ไทยและทาส ให้รับเครื่องหมายไว้ที่มือขวาหรือที่หน้าผากของเขา
17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
17เพื่อไม่ให้ผู้ใดทำการซื้อขายได้ นอกจากผู้ที่มีเครื่องหมายนั้น หรือชื่อของสัตว์ร้ายนั้น หรือเลขชื่อของมัน
18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
18ในเรื่องนี้จงใช้สติปัญญา ถ้าผู้ใดมีความเข้าใจก็ให้คิดตรึกตรองเลขของสัตว์ร้ายนั้น เพราะว่าเป็นเลขของบุคคลผู้หนึ่ง เลขของมันคือหกร้อยหกสิบหก
